Your headcanons

i hate how odyssey made mario so fucking small like the ugly realism part of the artstyle wasnt bad enough LMAO
Ooooo I hate it too. I prefer how the Super Show did height, where Mario's reasonable. Or Super Smash Bros.

Hell he's shorter than Captain Toad in Odyssey. Ffs.

Mine Are:

Jumpman is Mario and Luigi's Dad, and Mario just took on his father's nickname Jumpman (The man in the photo on the tin trey is either non-canon or is Mario and Luigi's grandfather i.e. Jumpman's father)

The Koopalings are adopted, Koopa Kid is an artificial child created from Bowser's DNA and Bowser Jr is his only biological child

Dimentio is over 10 thousand years old, created the Dark Prognosticus, is older than the ancients themselves, and was manipulating Bleck's Father to make Bleck become the perfect pawn

Fawful was taught in science and engineering by E.Gadd

E.Gadd and Dr. Crygor are old college friends

Wario and Waluigi share the same father as Mario and Luigi

Yeah, I agree with all of those theories.

Okay, so, you know how The Super Mario Bros Movie is being produced by Illumination? Well, what do you think would have happened if the film was produced by Disney instead but still had much of the same general people working on it?

I mean, I don't really care which company makes the movie and am perfectly fine with Illumination doing it; I am just curious what would happen if Disney did make the movie.

One time Mario ate a spoiled mushroom and fever dreamed the entire 1993 Mario movie. And that's how it fits in the marioverse.
Daisy's dad represented his food poisoning.

King Boo normally works for Bowser until he gets a new gem for his crown that increases his power so he goes off on his own.

Also the way he got out of his portrait the first time was due to Bowser being the one who got him at the yard sale.

This is also when Bowser jr got his paint brush.

Most levels of Super Mario Odyssey are only specific locations within the kingdoms, the actual territory of the kingdoms is much larger and contains many areas where levels could be set.

The same goes with many other Mario-verse Levels and Locations.

People don't eat power-ups to use them, although some can be used as food or ingredients.

Certain characters are aware that the world is a video-game, although at ground level it's more complex to them than simply being mindless programs. It's somewhat similar to the movie Wreck-it-Ralph, or roughly like the theory that the universe is a simulation. (a theory that I don't personally accept based on the current evidence available to me.)

There are more female members of many species than there appears to be, most just don't differentiate their appearance much from their male counterparts.

Species genetically adapt to new environments a lot faster than the real world equivalent process of evolution, which explains the difference in appearance and abilities of enemies from game to game, as well as the abundance of subspecies. Of course, some species are mechanical or constructed in appearance.

Speaking of such species, I believe that inorganic objects are able to acquire a soul when they are made for a specific purpose.

Those are just a few of my ideas, I enjoy reading everyone else's thoughts as well. I also have ideas on what the future of the world would be like if the status quo of the Mario series was allowed to change and progress in time, but at that point it's more of an alternate universe scenario then a head-canon.

pretty sure the first one is outright canon, given you are specifically given the names of the regions you visit within the kingdom, e.g. you specifically visit New Donk City within the Metro Kingdom

After the events of Bowser's inside Story, Fawful repented and joined the Church of the star sprites. He now lives a content life preaching about being good to others and sings hymns on sundays.

A society of ancients inhabited the mushroom world long before the Toads and Yoshis. They created the Koopa and subsequently wiped themselves out when some Koopas rebelled, leaving them behind.

Birdos have dense muscle mass, which is why the Turbo Birdo is the heaviest of the medium karts in Double Dash, Birdos are Power Sidekicks in Strikers Charged, Birdo has a weight stat in MKW, and why Birdo has 8/10 batting power in Super Sluggers.

Really? Why do you say that?

Not OP but I share the headcanon so I can explain at least LOL! I don't like using the term that he is "Autistic Coded" but the hints that he is is layered on very thick. Between his echolalia, different stimming habits, lack of awareness to social cues, and being quick to invade personal bubbles it's very... telling.

There is even an official animation of him happy arm flapping after eating good food.

Examples of Luigi's autistic traits are often seen in Charles' Instagram and Vine videos. His speech pattern for one features quite a lot of echolalia. Luigi often repeats things spoken to him from Mario in the form of agreement or a question. Another is Luigi's heavy use of anti-jokes due to him just stating them at the wrong time and/or removing/modifying the context. His use of anti-jokes continues in the Year of Luigi promotional audio.

I'm probably forgetting some examples but these are the ones off the top of my head :3

Super grateful for this reply. I was trying to think of particular examples to cite because I was getting the "autistic empathy" so to speak where you (as an autistic person) just kind of... feel someone vibes as autistic but can't put your finger on why. To me it's just a no-brainer, he is autistic in how he is. Having someone else clearly detail it out so those who don't have that feeling understand saves me some articulation trouble haha.

Actually, one thing that wasn't mentioned here I just thought of as I was writing this post is that Luigi is known to be very clumsy, which is a common autistic trait because of the fact we have... not the best sense of balance. His slipping and sliding everywhere is pretty reminiscent of me constantly bumping my toe on literally every possible surface I could bump my toe on. I dropped pizza on the floor a few hours ago. :(

Mario and Luigi's dynamic also vibes to me like "older bro looking out for his autistic little brother" dynamic, especially in the movie. I mean that in an entirely positive way, by the way. Mario's a really good brother. Plus:

The whole "dragging your brother down with you" thing and the way that the dad does not seem to give Luigi his own autonomy is pretty reminiscent of the way that autistic individuals often have their family members seen as their caretakers and autistic people are not trusted to articulate their own feelings and needs. Luigi's agency in the fact that he is a grown adult deciding to join his brother's business is not considered in that conversation.

Same film, but Luigi also seems to take time to process things that are said to and about him within the film, and also needs time to process the little spat that Mario and Spike get into. Having a delay in processing what just happened or what was just said to you is a very common autistic experience.

I think it would be fun too if Mario is also autistic himself; it just presents itself differently from Luigi, ranging in severity from some areas to another but not in a way that makes it as apparent; Mario has developed some accommodating habits too for some symptoms.
