You know the rules, and so do I. (But if you don't here's a brief rundown anyway.)

Mafia:
Mafia is a social deduction game with two teams, the Innocent faction and the Mafia faction. Each player's alignment is privately given to them, and the aim of the game is to vote a mafia player out during each day phase until there are no mafia remaining. As the innocent side does not know the identity of the mafia team (while the mafia team themselves know the identity of their teammates), they must try and deduce who the mafia is by the behaviours of the players around them. The mafia's goal is to eliminate the innocent side, and will win when the innocent player count is equal to or less than the number of mafia players.

Role Madness: Electric Boogaloo
Every player has a role! Some may be more exciting than others, but they should all give you some kind of additional strategy to consider while you hunt for mafia as per normal. This game will also feature much less roleblocking than the previous pokemon mafia lol.

Quick Note Rules:
  • Day Phases will last for 48 hours.
  • Night Phases will last for 23 hours, with a 1 hour gap before the next day phase to allow time for night action PMs to be sent.
  • Players are expected to be able post and submit night actions at least once per phase. Failure to do so will result in replacement, but please don't sign up if you don't think you will be able to commit the time necessary in the first place.
  • Voting for no lynchs is allowed, and tied votes will result in no lynchs.
  • The mafia will be non-interactive faction kill that cannot be roleblocked or tracked by roles.
  • Posting screenshots of role cards is not allowed.
  • Communication outside of the thread or host PMs is generally not allowed.
  • Just generally be nice and stuff I trust you guys enough to not need to spell it out to you.

FAQ:

Can I roleplay?
Yes! Roleplaying is allowed, however it is not the focus of mafia games. Try not to let it distract too much from the aim of the game, but also feel free to have fun interacting with others.

How many mafia players will there be?
As we aiming for a total of 16 players, the approximate total of mafia members would be 4. This is not conclusive and may change based on role balancing or even third party factions, which will not be revealed before the game starts.

Will there be a spectator chat or ghost chat?
There will be a spectator chat available, however dead players will not join this chat. This is because there may be roles that revive or communicate with dead players. So if you die early, we encourage you to continue paying attention to the game… you never know what might happen!

Can I message other players about the game?
No. As per "post-revival" mafia rules, all discussion is to be kept in the game thread or host-created PM chains. Obviously we can't monitor this completely, but we expect players to use their common sense.

Am I allowed to lie about my role or alignment?
Absolutely! Lying about roles or alliances is completely allowed, and is a major part of the game, as the entire goal of the mafia is to trick others into thinking that they're innocent. Just remember that this is a game of deception, and so sometimes others may not believe you or you may not believe others and end up being wrong. It's a bit of a learning experience, so don't feel too discouraged if you get voted out, you'll have a better idea of what to do next time!

When was Pokemon Mafia 1?
5 years ago. This probably wasn't going to be a frequently asked question but I just wanted to make you feel old. :imold:

Ok, so there are two reasons why I'm not sure if I'll sign up:

1. Time. I still have Kinocon and some future arcs to write for MCCW this year, as well as Cream and Cinnamoroll stories to work on in my fan creations thread. I also have some drawings planned for the scrapped Sinnoh Pokemon from that Make All DVD that got leaked in July. Plus, I got a pretty busy home life too, so I might not be able to participate on some days.

2. This is a more personal reason, but I don't want Insane Blathers to target me if I do sign up. The last two times I was playing Mafia, he targeted me solely because he thought I was a newcomer who didn't know how to play too well. If I sign up, I want to make sure I act more mature and keep my alignment mysterious so I don't get killed early on in the game.

However, I do have an RP thought up for this game. I plan on using Lovrina from Pokémon XD: Gale Of Darkness if I do sign up. Can anyone convince me to join if they're able?

Since I'm helping out with hosting this game, I want to address your concerns a bit.

First, I'll say you are certainly welcome to join. What I'm going to say isn't meant to discourage you - if you decide to join, we will have you gladly. Instead, I want to help you think over the decision and make sure you're doing what's best for you.

These games are elimination-based and competitive. They're for fun above all else, but there are elements of competition and strategy to every game. A part of that means there will always be players scheming and maneuvering to eliminate each other, and they'll constantly be evaluating each other to try and figure out who will be easiest to eliminate.

Being a "weaker" or "stronger" player isn't a permanent status - depending on the current state of the game, anyone can find themselves in a weaker position. Sometimes it's from a misplay, and sometimes it's just from bad luck.

If being targeted because other players think you're in a weaker position or being pressured with votes is something that will make you upset or angry, it might be better to consider sitting out and watching the game.

We as hosts don't know any individual player's feelings, so we can't tell a player one way or the other whether it's best for them to sign up or not.

What I will say, though, is that being really busy with other projects and not having time to check-in consistently can make it harder to manage emotions in games like these. It happens to everyone - I've even had the experience before.

If you're already handling all of these other projects, and you think that getting labeled an easy target at any point in the game or getting lots of votes will upset you, I'd give a lot of consideration to sitting out and watching.

If you do think hard about it and still decide to sign-up, the best advice I can offer is to talk to the hosts first if you start feeling upset about the game. We can always try to help you sort through your feelings While we can't give advice on the game outright, you can tell us what you're thinking of posting, and we can at least help you avoid doing anything that'll hurt the game experience or get anyone upset. And if it gets to be too much, we can help arrange an exit from the game.

Again, I don't want to discourage you. In saying all of this, I just want to make sure you carefully consider how much time and energy you have to manage any strong emotions arising from the game.

And on a lighter note, Lovrina is a great character. Easily my favorite Cipher Admin. Glad to see another fan of her.
