You know the rules, and so do I. (But if you don't here's a brief rundown anyway.)
Mafia:
Mafia is a social deduction game with two teams, the Innocent faction and the Mafia faction. Each player's alignment is privately given to them, and the aim of the game is to vote a mafia player out during each day phase until there are no mafia remaining. As the innocent side does not know the identity of the mafia team (while the mafia team themselves know the identity of their teammates), they must try and deduce who the mafia is by the behaviours of the players around them. The mafia's goal is to eliminate the innocent side, and will win when the innocent player count is equal to or less than the number of mafia players.
Role Madness: Electric Boogaloo
Every player has a role! Some may be more exciting than others, but they should all give you some kind of additional strategy to consider while you hunt for mafia as per normal. This game will also feature much less roleblocking than the previous pokemon mafia lol.
Quick Note Rules:
- Day Phases will last for 48 hours.
- Night Phases will last for 23 hours, with a 1 hour gap before the next day phase to allow time for night action PMs to be sent.
- Players are expected to be able post and submit night actions at least once per phase. Failure to do so will result in replacement, but please don't sign up if you don't think you will be able to commit the time necessary in the first place.
- Voting for no lynchs is allowed, and tied votes will result in no lynchs.
- The mafia will be non-interactive faction kill that cannot be roleblocked or tracked by roles.
- Posting screenshots of role cards is not allowed.
- Communication outside of the thread or host PMs is generally not allowed.
- Just generally be nice and stuff I trust you guys enough to not need to spell it out to you.
FAQ:
Can I roleplay?
Yes! Roleplaying is allowed, however it is not the focus of mafia games. Try not to let it distract too much from the aim of the game, but also feel free to have fun interacting with others.
How many mafia players will there be?
As we aiming for a total of 16 players, the approximate total of mafia members would be 4. This is not conclusive and may change based on role balancing or even third party factions, which will not be revealed before the game starts.
Will there be a spectator chat or ghost chat?
There will be a spectator chat available, however dead players will not join this chat. This is because there may be roles that revive or communicate with dead players. So if you die early, we encourage you to continue paying attention to the game… you never know what might happen!
Can I message other players about the game?
No. As per "post-revival" mafia rules, all discussion is to be kept in the game thread or host-created PM chains. Obviously we can't monitor this completely, but we expect players to use their common sense.
Am I allowed to lie about my role or alignment?
Absolutely! Lying about roles or alliances is completely allowed, and is a major part of the game, as the entire goal of the mafia is to trick others into thinking that they're innocent. Just remember that this is a game of deception, and so sometimes others may not believe you or you may not believe others and end up being wrong. It's a bit of a learning experience, so don't feel too discouraged if you get voted out, you'll have a better idea of what to do next time!
