30 questions (a question a day) challenge

Day 1: What was your very first videogame? - Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive.
Day 2: Who is your favorite videogame character? - Golly gee gosh, I wonder who Nano's favorite character could possibly beeeeeee... :new:
Day 3: What is a game that's underrated? - I guess maybe Wario: Master of Disguise, when people discuss the Wario platformers they usually only bring up the Wario Land games or Wario World.

damn that's pretty much my answer lgm

Though here, I'd like to go with Darkspore. I mean, if I could actually PLAY it today, I may have a second opinion on it. The Spore community likes shitting on this game and it didn't score that high with Metacritic but as far as Diablo-likes go, it actually plays extremely well and it has something in it that stands out among other Diablo-likes: its Spore-like customizer. I really want to play it again but....it's literally unplayable now as online-only DRM has outright killed and wiped the game from existence as its servers are no longer up.
theres actually a fan revival apparently! while i never played darkspore this is still nice to see regardless
and yea i was ognna bring up spore too lmao but decided to just focus on one game that id say is more underrated too

Words cannot express how happy I am to see it actually working again!!! It's like seeing a long lost friend visiting!!! Now, I'm so patiently waiting until the game's in a playable state.

My most underrated game is Super Paper Mario. I hate how often i see it grouped with the later games that were the polar opposite of it in terms of story, characters & tone, rather than the earlier games where those aspects (to me) feel like a natural progression of. Other than partners anyway. To me, it's the last game before the series was rebooted. I love how it has a focus on sending Mario and Co. to a weird bizarre new dimension with a story that has the highest stakes in the franchise. And as someone who loves loves loves everything about that story, seeing it lumped with the story-less games physically hurts me. I hope, when the Paper Mario series truly returns to its roots, SPM is still not forgotten. As in, the series still makes references to it, along with the 2 games before it.

The Incredibles on Game Boy Advance (plus Lilo and Stitch: Hamstervial Havoc is VERY underrated too)

Fire Emblem Warriors. It is VERY additive. Trust me, I have over 1,000 hours booked into it.

a recent favourite of mine that i've really been enjoying that most people have likely overlooked is Picross 3D: Round 2 for the 3DS. It's really just a collection of puzzles, taking picross/nonograms and adding another dimension to it, but the design of the game (graphics, sounds and music) really elevate it and make it a very fun and relaxing experience.

4. Is there a videogame that is your guilty pleasure?

TBH it's the Mario franchise. People don't talk openly about Mario the way they do with Pokemon, Zelda, and Animal Crossing.
Everyone will play Mario, but not like PLAY Mario. if that makes any sense.

Guilty pleasure game? Hmm...kinda have to agree with you about Mario in general. None of my friends play Mario--most of them think it's too kiddy. It kinda leaves me out because a lot of my friends play Fortnite, which I wouldn't touch with a forty-nine-and-a-half-foot pole.

The SpongeBob games for the GBA. Supersponge, Revenge of the Flying Dutchman, Battle for Bikini Bottom, and the Movie game. All of which have console versions that are considered the "main" versions, so the GBA versions flew under the radar. They're definitely not perfect, they have a lot of jank in their platforming, but I still love them for the fun they provided to my childhood.

I can't really think of a guilty pleasure game because honestly, it's just a digital toy, and I've shed all feelings of guilt when playing digital toys, as an adult.

I guess the closest thing to that would be replaying and revisiting an edutainment title from my youth like the Magic School Bus edutainment games. It sometimes feels good to re-familiarize yourself with something that was with you when you were extremely young.

honestly mysims . i genuinely enjoy the game a ton, its just nice and chill, but also its an absolute BABY GAME and people generally seem to have negative opinions on it. i dont see anything wrong with it???
but even moreso. крошка енот (for the eng title ive seen both raccoon game and. poofik??) which is an extremely obscure russian 2d paltformer that isnt even that good (it has nice music though) and pony world, another obscure polish 2007 game thats basically sims 1 with ponies but also rather boring (it also has nice music). nostalgia bias comes into play for both of these again cause i played em as a bebey

I've google searched kroshka enot out of curiosity and it seems to be based off something that looks like it's aimed at very young kids. Is it edutainment?

The Fire Emblem series is my guilty pleasure.

Among my friends who are Nintendo fans, none of them but one plays it. Whenever I talk about it, it's always something I'm happy to share and flex on my FE knowledge.

But even on the internet, being an FE fan has its perks. It's Salty Smash fans season after a Smash direct/showcase revealing an FE character. While sometimes it goes out of hand and people just become toxic, there is still something singularly hilarious about these human beings, some of which are supposedly mature adults, being so angry over a video game they "don't like" being repped. That is my guilty pleasure.

FE's also got the best waifus if that counts.

Sometimes I feel like those people who get that salty don't even play and enjoy Smash to begin with. At Blyath's reveal, I was originally like "that was disappointing" and I'd just resume playing the game.

It doesn't matter to me either way, since I'm happy to be playing these games. To me, these people are just missing out, so there's no sense in being upset over people being upset, honestly.

The talk of edutainment, reminds me of some other games I enjoy that many others didn't care for.

In the realm of Mario, there was Mario Is Missing. I had it for SNES and gave it a lot of plays despite it being the same experience each time.. I just really liked having Mario in our world, and sort of learned random facts while at it.

Non-mario related games..
Treasure Cove! for PC. It was a young kids point & click adventure mystery solving game. The goal was to build a rainbow bridge by collecting needed pieces undersea. For some reason I loved the heck out of it.

There was also the Cereal box games! these ones were for young children but not really educating.
Cap'n Crunch Crunchling Adventure, where you raise your own pet Crunchlings from toddler to adult, via minigames.

and

Cocoa Puffs Sonny's Race for Chocolatey Taste. You play as the mascot of the cereal snowboarding to collect cereal pieces.

It is a bit annoying that you want to read up topics on Smash like do you want returning stages or what is a character's worst move in their moveset and how is Blyath and you have to scroll through countless bitchy topics, though.

I know the Treasure games! I've played Gizmos and Gadgets, MathStorm, and Mission THINK! So much fun back in the day!

No arguments against that, true.

mighta given you results based on som cartoon but theyre actually very distinct
i have a descirption of it from like june

oh and edit. i have sorta speedran it a few times. the most boring speed game of all time! my fastest time was ~25 mins i dont have any recordings unfortunately

Guilty pleasure for me would honestly be nostalgic edutainment games and other childhood games. We played Zoo Tycoon again not too long ago, and we actually played that one for real rather than stuff ourselves with cash in sandbox and go nuts.

Precure Tsunagaru Pazurun is my guilty pleasure game.

I mean, it's a mobile game that's a tie-in to an anime franchise literally aimed at 5-12 year old Japanese girls (and 18-35 year old men but let's not talk about that), so it's a pretty basic puzzle game (using the old seven bridges of köningsberg method of gameplay) but I literally play it every day, and not just to complete my daily missions.

Also it has a gacha, which I normally hate, but it's actually a reasonably fair one and I'm not gonna complain about getting cool art of some of my fave characters in it.
