Super Mario Maker 2

My copy of Super Mario Maker 2 arrived today, but I've been too focused on Story Mode to even begin constructing a course.

I've started working on my very first Super Mario Maker 2 course today. It's almost done, but I do need to perform some more tests (and maybe some additional adjustments) before I decide to upload it. For a hint on the course's theme, it involves the Super Bell.

On a side note, I do have the 12-month Nintendo Switch Online code, but I'm waiting until 7/1 to activate it.

Also, a lot of my planned courses have a long length in mind, but I will do whatever I can to keep the difficulty fair.

The game is still a few days old, and yet we already have videos like the one below.

Whenever you see troll courses or cruel courses, they really give the fair courses a bad name, and that's obviously something that Yamamura doesn't tolerate; he does have his own tutorials after all.

Everybody knows that when you're playing an Expert or Super Expert level, you should check for offscreen Thwomps and Kaizo blocks.

My first level is basically a successor to my first SMM1 level Worthless Junk, which lived up to its name. However now that I actually have an idea of how to design levels to avoid softlocks/forced death/etc, I expanded its basic layout with more sections, three boss fights, and pink coins that will get you a true ending. All in the 3D World style!

Slightly More Worthwhile Junk: 7LV-B99-CJF

I've also remade the first two stages from SPM. Currently working on the third. These also have optional pink coins, and 1-2 has comments to emphasize the narrative etc. Planning to add that to 1-1 in the near future as well.

1-1 The Adventure Unfolds: RGX-298-3GF

1-2 Afoot in the Foothills: 11M-4Q6-8SG

I honestly wish there was a tag for Kaizo and Troll levels. There’s a subset of people that enjoy those levels, and it would allow them to find those levels easier, while allowing people who don’t like those levels to avoid them.

It’s called Super Expert for a reason.

Challenging level =/= troll level.

They're right though. There's a big difference between:
1. Having Thwomps stationed right where you start the level to kill and *bleep* with you. (Troll level)
2. Having Thwomps stationed near the start and making you figure out the best strategy to avoid them. (Challenging level)

TL;DR: Trolls aren't the same as challenges, and yeah, there should be tags for "Kaizo" or otherwise.

troll levels are just lazy tbh. like if you can't you can't make something challenging without resorting to "door that just leads into a spike" tactics (which, quite frankly, aren't even hard you just have to know they exist to avoid them) it shows a pretty damning lack of creativity and willingness to put forth like actual effort and understanding of what makes a good hard level a good hard level.

people are already modding this game

i don't quite understand how modding the game isn't creative. you can do all sorts of crazy stuff with mods not possible in the game. like for example, i saw a mod in gamebanana that lets you put every object in a ? block. how can you not be creative with that?

hacking the game and making alterations to it is taking the easy way out?

Well, they are taking the easy way out...
Clearly you don't understand how complicated and difficult modding is. It takes a whole lot of effort and creativity. In no way is modding "taking the easy way out". Especially because this is just an aesthetic mod we're talking about.

Heck, I'm pretty sure that usually even creating a cheat code to make a game easier is harder than the game itself.
