post any random Mario thought on your mind

So I loaded up Mario Party 6.

I decided to play one game of Seer Terror while I was in the minigame menu.

Bowser promptly called me depressed.

I didn't need to be reminded, thank you.

Looking back after the streams, the "1 song per episode" songs that play during episodes of the DIC Mario cartoons are generally listenable. That also goes for the Donkey Kong Country and Sonic Underground songs as well.

Are the names Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Lanky Kong, Tiny Kong and Chunky Kong short for Duncan Kong III, Didrick Kong, Lance Kong, Tiana Kong and Charles Kong respectively?

Following the pattern of Bullet Bill and Bob-omb, why aren't there more Mario enemies with names like "Firearm Frank" or "Nuclear Norman"?
Nuclear Norman would turn the Mushroom Kingdom into the Mushroomy Kingdom…

Woohoo a rewrite!
Cranky is innocent, but a jerk, an innocent jerk!
When Donkey grows up he has a villain moment of wanting his childhood friend Pauline to himself.
"then why did Cranky say-" Senility, that's why. He was confused and misremembered himself as Donkey.
Also Cranky might be a vampire, he doesn't look a day older than when he did when Donkey was a kid.

Torpedo Ted and Missile Meg:

Although if you really want a good idea for a fanfic, write a Bullet Bill and Torpedo Ted OC, make them both kinda stupid, and send them back in time. I'm sure that would be an excellent story.

If someone does end up making a fanfic out of that, be sure to tell Bullet Bill's stepmom: "Don't be a stranger!"

King Bowser's Caslte (Yoshi's Woolly World) is named after Baby Bowser in all languages except for English and the Nintendo of America localization in Spanish. Baby Bowser is not mentioned across all of the game's marketing material. Assuming Kamek doesn't randomly allude to Baby Bowser at any point in the game prior to this level, and he doesn't in the Nintendo of America localization in English, all but the English and (NOA) Spanish localizations essentially spoil a major plot twist in the name of the level where the plot twist happens!

In the recent dev interview for Bananza, Kenta Motokura (producer) states:

When controlling a character in a 3D world, the player often sees them from behind, so we were also conscious of how Donkey Kong would look from the back while he's moving. The back view of Donkey Kong just looks like a mass of brown fur, which would make for a monotonous visual if we simply rendered him in 3D. That inspired us to make some creative adjustments to his outfit, such as giving him britches and suspenders.

This is was a funny observation on their part, and it's funny because it's often true. For instance, I never found it appealing to play as DK in Mario Kart because not a whole lot of what makes him recognizable is reflected when you control him.

With other characters, you still see core parts of their identity when you view them from behind. The bros. have their caps, the princesses their crowns, Bowser has his spiked shell and red mane, heck, other Kongs have striking pieces of attire. With DK, his main draw is arguably the tie, which is mostly hidden away from the player. What remains is a "mass of brown fur" that is pretty boring to play as in a 3D space.

DK also has a remarkable primitive side to him that is lost in Mario Kart. He is kind of designed to be more animal-like than other characters, even other Kongs, and move around by dragging his knuckles. Bananza even retains that side of him, which I think counterbalances the lack of other immediately identifying features when viewed from behind. Putting him behind a wheel inherently strips him of this trait and just kinda renders him as a generic heavyset, hunched humanoid.

This is why I've always preferred playing as other Kongs in Mario Kart despite being a fan of DK.

So you like Donkey Kong right?

The final attack bonus in boss minigames from MP9 onward is so stupid. It works okayish -- still not great, mind you, since it serves pretty much no purpose -- in the boss games where everyone is attacking as a group (see: Deck Dry Bones, Spike Strike) but if everyone is attacking individually, and especially if it's all at essentially random times, the final attack bonus just feels like the game saying "Here, have some extra points because you pressed the button on the right frame." By far the worst egregious example of this is games where you attack in turns since it's not about going for the most points, it's about figuring out which thing to do that will get you the final attack.

E: This has now happened to me twice in the Mario Party 10 boss minigames, namely with Mega Sledge Bro and Mega Monty Mole. I'm so glad I got second place because I had the audacity to not know I should fire the third cannon instead of the first.

I made a meme like this 10 years ago. Decided to revamp it this week so it's no longer a graphic design eyesore. Enjoy!
Alternatively it can just be a calendar meme.

Two things from a Mario vs. Donkey Kong editing spree:
  • Why is Donkey Kong an employee of Mario Toy Company? Like, all the jokes about Mario allowing Bowser to compete in Mario Kart pale in comparison to Mario allowing a known toy thief who has shown a lack of self control and personally aggrieved Mario to work for him. Worse, given that the game that introduced this bit also introduced Donkey Kong's robots, its possible that Donkey Kong used his experience in the company to build them to oppose the Mini-Marios. Way to go Super Mario, you created your own worst enemy.
  • Why have Mechakoopas, the Super Mario enemy that is already a wind up toy, not appeared in the series yet? Are they just inherently too Bowser aligned to show up unless Bowser is the antagonist? I dunno, make Bowser a supporting character instead, it would be funny.

It's weird how Toadsworth has been forgotten since Mario and Luigi: Dream Team. He hasn't appeared outside of remakes/ports/remasters since then. I hope he either appears again in the next movie or game or at least is referenced somehow so that he is not forgotten from the storyline.

I think the Donkey Kong franchise should be regarded as a spin-off or sub-series of the Mario franchise, that is one with its own identity and aesthetic, if it isn't already. I mean, you have Donkey Kong as a regular Mario character, and the DKC elements regularly appear in Mario spin-off games these days. After all, the same goes for the Yoshi and Wario franchises.

I think Mario Tennis Ultra Smash is an underrated game. It doesn't have a lot to do, but the mega mushrooms are a cool mechanic.

I'm currently stuck in a tiny box with my son, the gap I rolled in through, no ceiling, and the world's tackiest carpet. Can't believe this is what I get for beating that other fight on the first try. I didn't even crash out this time.
