What game did you last play?!?!?!?

M&L Dream Team
Entered the north path of Somnoms Temple Puzzle, and the bros took the elevator to the top and fought Pi'illodium.
Most. Difficult. Opponent. Yet.
The first time playing this game that I almost Game Over'd. But did pull through and beat Pi'illodium on my first try.
Though I still don't understand how to dodge their lazer attack, the blasts seemed to not match the indicators when they charged up, AND, it was A LOT to memorize. That and it took me halfway through the fight to figure out how to counter their hammer attack.
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team
Now with Pi'illodium defeated, the bros have entered Zeekeeper's dream point atop the temple. Leading them to a giant tree to climb in Dreamy Somnom Woods, and meeting Bedsmith there, is it really Bedsmith or Luigi's subconscious? For I do not know. Regardless, the bros have begun their dreamy tree climbing journey.. sort of.
I decided to investigate the dream point entrance because I noticed the fake wall made of leaves on the map. It took the bros underground below the tree, to a puzzle reminiscent of SMB castle puzzles of needing to go forward on the correct platforms. As the sign suggests, if the bros take the platforms with Pellicrumps, they get to the treasure room.. which just had a max nut.., then the coin platforms lead to the secret exit, or should I say entrance - to above ground on the east side of the tree. We hit the ! block and it had a new branch grow out of the tree on the west side as a shortcut so that the bros won't need to go underground again. Dreamy Bedsmith hits on the bros again, and suggested taking a break before climbing more. I took Bedsmiths advice, I forget what pronouns Bedsmith has. Ah well.

Mario & Luigi Dream Team
Using the power of Luiginary Ball and Luiginary Windmill, the bros climb to the top of Dreamy Somnom Woods Giant Tree. Bedsmith hits on Dreambert again and gets rejected again.. ehh ngl I'm kinda tired of that Alphadream's running gag.
It's weird how that's a trope in media, like, IRL it's usually straight ppl harassing people like that, not gay folk.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Got it yesterday on the GameCube. Beat Chapter 1 and 2, and I'm currently progressing through 3. So far it's excellent: the characters are varied and full of charm, the battle mechanics are fun and improved from 64, and the dungeon design is quite good. My main issue is with the backtracking, which is a bit excessive.

Old School RuneScape

Haven't played it in a few days, did the 8th birthday event and that was pretty much it.

M&L Dream Team
The bros cracked the egg and..
GIANT BATTLED THE ZEEKEEPER!
Luigi's experience catching chickens back in Mario Party 3 has paid off.
The Zeekeeper turned out to be a total self absorbed egomaniac wanting 80million coins for the job to help break the castle barrier, everyone tricked him into believing they would pay, and he's up for the job!
Oh my god Mario's face every time he was surprised at Zeekeeper's personality and desires, was priceless!
Defeating the Zeekeeper earned the bros a pair of Energy Pants, I'll have to see what's that about tomorrow.

M&L Dream Team
The bros meet Zeekeeper at the entrance of Somnom, hitch a ride on his back as he blasts the barrier of Neo Bowser Castle, resulting in the castle losing its ability to fly and crashing symmetrically from Bimport on the mysterious question mark shaped land.
The bros. do some shopping at the very brave Shelltop's shellhutch opened at the entrance of Neo Bowser Castle, and plan to attempt remaining sidequests before entering the castle.

Hearthstone
I finally got around to completing the final stage of the tutorial, where it makes me actually think on my own to win. Yayy now i can start building my own deck!

Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition
Having trouble against Chun Li and Juri. They block so much and even deflect throws. I beat Chun Li, Juri was too good. But I learned a trick from her to use next time, and that is there's 2 blocks, neutral & down, I can strike where they're not blocking!

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team

Oh my goodness what a relief to go from SMRPG to this. I truly admire this game, in the very first moments the story had drawn me in and the next 2 hours did not disappoint me in the slightest. This has been the game I've been looking forward to playing the most ever since I beat Paper Mario 64 last summer and it fully lived up to how great I thought it'd be. It feels like it takes everything I've loved about the first three games in the series and puts it together really well.

Story is pretty great so far, possibly my favourite in the series so far (but obviously when you include Paper Mario, SPM and TTYD are still my favourite stories so far.) The graphics are pretty good but I'd not say hugely beautiful - the 3DS provides far greater graphical quality than any of the first three M&Ls but does still have a little fuzziness and doesn't compare to CS or TOK - as for SPM and TTYD I like those games' visuals in a very different way so I'd find those two hard to compare to DT's artstyle directly. The familiar overworld gameplay is back again and the Dream World stuff is pretty cool but so far I think the babies and Bowser from the two previous games are still better, maybe my opinion on that will change later. It's awesome to finally control the Bros. using more fully circular motion albeit I was a little disappointed about the lack of a "move slow by tilting slightly" option like in many games. The battle system is as great as ever if not even better, the Dream World battles are especially fun. And the music is phenomenal (though I've grown a bit tired of the Pi'illo castle theme by now) and the fact that the Dream World music is like a remix of the real world music is kinda similar to what happened in Bowser's Inside Story when music played in Bowser's Body.

Overall as I'm still in the very early stages of my first playthrough of this game I can't decide quite yet where this game ranks compared to the other M&Ls (probably will end up being either my favourite or a close second to Bowser's Inside Story) or to the first three PMs (looks like between PM64 and TTYD) but in its own right I undeniably and passionately love this game.

I believe recalling part of why AlphaDream stopped being a thing was because they couldn't keep up with new console graphic demand.

Eventually you'll be able to have one bro hold the other and walk. Also when Mario's digging under ground Luigi slow runs but without sfx.

The OST's are going to drive you mad as you progress.

M&L:DT
The bros check on the inhabitants near Blimport to see if they're reacting to the castle crash. Some of them mentioned feeling an earthquake, and being relieved of not seeing the castle in the sky anymore. One was wondering what the castle's mental problem is for incinerating the islands and then crashing.

Mario Kart Tour
I cleared the 50cc Firebro Cup with Wendy and Dry Bones. I'm raising my lowest point selections as a 'leave no Mario behind' sort of thing. So with the courses, T must mean Tour and R must mean Super, yeah? I like when we have a selection of remixes for one location, it's refreshing.

The Magic School Bus Explores the Ocean

Don't judge me.

Okay but seriously there is an ulterior motive for me to be playing the game.

CoralReefStage.png

I'm making a Smash style stage out of it for Rivals of Aether, so I'm ripping assets from it.

ParrotFish.gif
Shark.gif

stage props i've ripped so far, the parrotfish will be a slow moving platform that travels across, the shark will be a background element.

Now kids, if you look out to your left, you'll see deep undersea life yet known to man.

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team
The bros train up at the Battle Ring before their Neo Bowser Castle showdown. I beat Elite Trio X mostly with Luigi Typhoon and Luigi Ball. Then I unsurprisingly lose to Pi'illodium X as their little minions keep healing them more than I can strike.

im positng here for once because i wanted to gush about bopopolis in tropical freeze. now that i know i have to hold b a little before landing on the enemy for a higher jump its actually INSANELY satisfying and fun omg this may be my faovirte level now. im so sorry bopopolis i wrongfully dissed you earlier because the enemy big jump timing is weird
i especially liked how by the end you start getting lives with each jump because of how many enemies youve jumped on and also i liked how the music changed at the very end to match dk island swing. i can admit its really cool even though i may be tired of dkc1 references
oh yeah i beat the first temple level too it wasnt that bad actually. so with this i no longer fear the temples
Now trying to get the secret exit in frozen frenzy has been. a less positive experience. it would be nice if mario wiki had literally anything on how to unlock 6-a (it doesnt even say its through frozen frenzy) so i didnt have to ask people about it and then feel bad and embarrased

i also played mario sunshine earlier. tried to cheese the goopy inferno and still suffered. the rest went fine enough, i have the 7th shine on every course now so next up is the final level sometime soonish, but i also just absolutely Felt this line
2021022720035800_c.jpg

the goopy inferno did happen to make me cry . as did many other things in this game. im very conflicted on sunshine i love the world and dialogue but its also frustrating SO often

tldr of the whole post: bopopolis slaps

Yoshi's New Island

I know my old save isn't technically gone per se as my old SSD is still functional but it's not worth going through the trouble of getting it just for the save. So...I have to replay this game from the start.

There's absolutely no way in hell I'm playing 4S again, so when I complete the game, I'll redo all levels except for 4S, and then just cheat for 100% completion.

Tropico 4

I honestly feel like this game is easier than Tropico 3 tbh. (Although at the same time I also feel it's not very different than 3) Do gotta love how it defaulted to running at the lowest settings on this laptop, even though the game is from 2011.

finally starting super mario galaxy i was the most excited to play this one ever since the 3das rumors started a yera ago!
i completed just good egg and honeyhive so far. some scattered thoughts
- not a big fan of the camera but what can ya do
- like?? a lot of things i know from odyssey???? the frickin jingle when you first get a powerup was reused in odyssey for the jingle when you unlock a new kingdom, the frickin?? boss music for kaliente and someone else had a bit have the same melody as the broodal fight themes in odyssey??? also even noticed some sfx. with me knowing a lot about odyssey this is gonna be really interesting to see what other similarities i may find
- greatly enjoyed bee mario because 1. insect 2. just fun gameplay mechanics
- THIS GAME HAS BEETLES IN IT
unknown.png
unknown.png

- good music but ive known that for a while
- clearly this launch star is for chunky kong as it is green and transparent
2021030720405000_c.jpg

- monky brain extremely enjoy collecting starbits in large amounts. ive just noticed i am likely to do that if you shower me with collectables like this

M&L DT
Giant Bowser was scary to fight but not the hardest.
Antasma was easy lol.
Dreamy Bowser is so difficult I lost to him 3 times now T w T

ok so just played two today. im mostly posting for a few certain things in the latter
mario galaxy... do the courses in the bedroom also feel like the game dropped the ball a little to anyone else? I mean not to diss gusty garden galaxy (or honeyclimb galaxy) but like. theres a way higher amount of missions so far i just did not find fun (major burrows, freezeflames blistering core, hot and cold collide which is the one that made me get frustrated enough to drop the game for today, and also blasting through the desert winds was just really confusing)
i also got every green star??? already??? not touching that green launch star yet though it sounds like something ill need to put off until the end of the game
also got luigi in honeyhive galaxy. found some new pepperoni secrets along the way! with SO many starbits

DONkey kong country tropical freeze! continuing hard mode. so. last time i left off i left off on the third boss... i was dreading it because on normal it took absolute ages but now i have to do it with one hit point instead of four??? To My Absolute Surprise it took WAYYYYY less time than i expected, only about 9 minutes? I DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT HAPPENED FOR REAL
next up was deep keep and it was basically enslaved stress. after that it got really fun though! i played through rockin relics and discovered that THE POPGUNS ARENT USELESS they can be used to destroy the big ol spikeys its CRAZY
if you want proof heres the... discord upload. just copy and paste this link into your personal discord server or something (or download ig) https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/730453671263076403/820005698557444107/2021031221144301_c.mp4
and, finally, high tide ride im convinced is one of the best levels in any of the 2d platformers ive played now. its SO good and i like how the music just goes from cheery to more scawy throughout the level and the lane switching gimmicks are just really cool and just. god high ride tide is such a cool level
also noticed dixie constantly holds onto her hat while in a minecart. cute

Time Princess

It's a mobile game, like a fashion game crossed with a visual novel where you enter a bunch of stories and take the role of the story protagonist. I'm mostly playing it because I like the stylish clothes you can unlock and wear and also one of the stories is set in 18th century France and features you as Marie Antoinette sorry not sorry im gay. It also avoids the typical 'free' mobile game shit by having almost no adverts (the only adverts are completely optional ones when you do one of their event minigames to get another chance/more turns or ones you can choose to watch up to five times a day to get some more hearts/diamonds/etc.) and they don't shove the paid content in your face.

Donkey Kong 64

Yes. Backtracking can get monotonous and half the mini games can burn in the fiery pits, courtesy of Frollo. But I always have a lot of fun with this one and wish we'd get more Donkey Kong games like this.

Mario Party Island Tour
Minigames - Free Play - General Bubble 3 - CPU Easy
Mario, Daisy, Boo, Yoshi

I've done all the Party boards, now I've moved on to Minigames mode, but before I do the competitive minigame modes, I'm doing a bubble(page) a day in Free Play.
Today's bubble included - 'Tanks a Lot' it's a fun shooter in a koopa kart equipped with a canon. 'Xylophone Home' a play to the beat game. 'Mild Gunman' the return of Mario Party series shoot a paintball to the directed button press. 'Spin the Bubble' you operate a hand machine that turns a bubbled baddie and have to match the outline of the box the baddie goes in. 'Rat-a-tat Flat' the players compete to groundpound the most scaredy rats. 'Tile Savvy' a classic toad house minigame style of moving tiles to complete the image.
Out of these 6 my favorite to play was Tanks a Lot, while visually my favorite was Spin the Bubble.

Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions

Was really enjoying the game, but then I had to do this terrible escort mission with Peach, and this solo Luigi part which was kinda meh. And then the plot came to a screeching halt as I now had to find the 4 Beanstar pieces. Despite this, I'm still gonna beat the game. I'm filled with determination.

I actually didn't mind that escort mission too much. Mostly because if you're not into grinding in RPGs, then yeah it would be a hassle.

Mario Party Island Tour
Minigames - Free Play - General - Bubble 4
Mario, Yoshi(easy), Peach(easy), Waluigi(easy)

  • Hide 'n' Splat: The return of Tox Box! My opponents all got squished by the same box at the same time lol.
  • Slow Glide: Hang-gliding to pop balloons, I popped all of them.
  • Sub Trouble: Submarine,a nod to SML??? Although my first thought was Crash Bandicoot xD. I crashed once but still got a high score.
  • Garden of Eatin': Deciphering piranha plants from regular flowers based on their movements. Today I learn only one movement is the flower while the rest are piranhas. Yes, I got 4th place thinking I only had to avoid one type of movement.
  • Peep a Peepa: Shining a flashlight at Peepas on a ghost ship. You can sometimes shine two Peepas at once.
  • Puzzle Pronto: Where the puzzle is randomly selected. Mini-minigames.
Other than MPIT, not to be confused with MLPIT.
I played Wario Land Course 10: the top of Mt. Teapot. It felt like the first course to smoothly utilize swapping powerups, that or I didn't get it the previous courses lol.

Finished Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions

I'm not a fan of the second half of that game, but overall I had a lot of fun. The story is great and the characters are hilarious, and the gameplay is as strong as ever. That final boss tho, jeez that was hard.
