MarioWiki Poll Discussion

I have 0 desire to revisit those games again.

Never played, am mostly disinterested in this version. Maybe next time. (Would it have killed them to implement Co-Star Luma into Galaxy 1 so they could at least say there is a new gameplay feature?)

I had Galaxy 2 on the Wii back in the day, but I no longer have access to it, so I bought it again on Switch.

I like Mario games in general, but the Galaxy games have always been extremely, detrimentally addicting to me. I'm legit fighting multiple urges to pick up Galaxy 2 in my spare time, almost always losing and wasting away 1 hour or 2 at a time just collecting the same virtual mcguffins I've been collecting for years now instead of doing something much more productive. I see star bits when I sleep and I'm instinctively moving my eyes around like the in-game cursor, trying to collect them. Nothing else ever had such a pull (star) on me in my life and it's gotten to a point where I'm not sure if I actually enjoy these games any more. It feels so difficult doing anything else.

Anyway, option 1.

I think Nintendo is way overcharging for pretty old games.

I have Galaxy 1 on Wii that I love already and I got Galaxy 2 but I'm not playing it until I 100% the first one. Nevertheless, I have high hopes for it! 🤩

Now that Donkey Kong Bananza has been out for a spell, the Poll Committee brings you a fresh new beat with a Bananza poll!

Which Bananza power do you most like using?
  • Kong Bananza
  • Zebra Bananza
  • Ostrich Bananza
  • Elephant Bananza
  • Snake Bananza
  • I didn't enjoy any of the Bananza powers.
  • I have not played Donkey Kong Bananza.
  • I have no opinion.

As for me, while I found the elephant the most useful and versatile, this was a tough toss-up between ostrich and snake. They were both useful in their own right, and I had more fun with their movement options than I did elephant. It was really tight, because ostrich took it for me on movement, but the glare option beat out the egg-bombing, but ultimately I went with ostrich.

The newest poll is up on the Mario Wiki! Happy (belated) 8th anniversary to Mario & Rabbids Kingdom Battle! I came up with this one:

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle has recently celebrated its 8th anniversary. Who is your favorite playable character in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle?

  • Mario
  • Rabbid Peach
  • Rabbid Luigi
  • Luigi
  • Rabbid Mario
  • Princess Peach
  • Rabbid Yoshi
  • Yoshi
  • Donkey Kong
  • Rabbid Cranky
  • I have not played Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.

If we're talking about the abilities of the playable characters, then I'd say Rabbid Mario. I voted for him because of his insane damage and destruction he causes. If I had to change a favorite character in general, then it'd be Rabbid Peach for being the star of the game! Like I said, I went with gameplay, so my vote goes to Rabbid Mario.

Fairly simple poll about Donkey Kong Bananza this week, courtesy of Sparks!

  • The game is great, and I enjoyed it a lot.
  • The game is good, and I liked it.
  • The game is OK, but it could have been better.
  • The game was bad, and I did not enjoy it.
  • I have not played Donkey Kong Bananza.
  • I have no opinion.

New poll up on the wiki! This one's about merchandise!

What is your favorite type of Mario merchandise?

  • Plushies
  • Amiibo/Figurines
  • Board Games
  • Books/Comics
  • Clothing
  • Food
  • Card Games/Trading Cards
  • DVDs/VHS Tapes
  • I like a type of merchandise not listed.
  • I have no opinion.

Plushies, love them in general so much. Wish we got new characters such as the characters in Mario Kart World, and Pauline and King Boo especially

These are all great. (that technically isn't true but I don't think this is the place to complain) Board games are more kinds of games, though admittedly I haven't heard of a standout Super Mario board game. Books aren't games (except for the times they are) but a lot of us are here because we like the characters and books mean getting to spend more time with them. Clothes are additionally a form of expression and can serve to quickly connect people when in public. Figures can have the most detailing out of any of the mediums. Polls force me to pick one and I guess I'll pick plushies. They have the fewest storage concerns, as they are small and difficult to accidentally damage.

I like amiibo/figurines most out of these options, but I like all of them, even if I'm not that big of a collector. The trouble with amiibo is balancing them feeling substantial with not feeling like it's locking useful dlc behind a figure that you might not be interested in. I think the Smash Bros series trainable fighters and Mario Maker 1s Amiibo costumes had a good balance.

I dunno if I'd consider myself a "collector" of Mario merchandise but I like the clothing the most. I used to collect Mario clothes like it was nobody's business. I'm not quite as much a collector these days, but I do have a few, like a Mario Kart-themed one that advertises "Rainbow Road at Special Cup" or something like that. I did have to retire some of them, but I might turn them into something else, someday.

I collect Mario plushies (I have Luigi, a Koopa Troopa, a Yoshi, and Mario), Mario figures (Luigi, Mario, Peach, Daisy, Boom Boom, Yoshi, Blue Toad, Piranha plant), one Amiibo (the Bowser one), two Mario T-shirts, the Blu-ray and DVD pack for the Super Mario Bros. movie, the Super Mario UNO, a Yoshi pez dispenser, and Mario stickers.

Haaaapy New Year! To celebrate I figured we could look back on the year's Mario performance!
How would you rate 2025's Mario games?
-I felt it was an incredibly good performance overall.
-I felt most were decent, although there were a few I didn't enjoy.
-I felt most were rough, although there were a few good ones.
-I felt it was an incredibly poor performance overall.
-I have no opinion.
Hope you enjoy! It's been awhile since I last did a poll but I hope still up to snuff!

So, for future reference, that list includes:
  • Donkey Kong Returns HD
  • Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2
  • Hello, Mario! (JP only)
  • Hello, Yoshi! (JP only)
  • Mario Kart World
  • Donkey Kong Bananza
  • Super Mario Party Jamboree -- Nintendo Switch 2 Version + Jamboree TV
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour (if that even counts...)
  • Nintendo Gamecube - Nintendo Classics
  • Plus whatever other Nintendo Classics that were added this year
I'm not quite sure how to feel overall. Of course, Donkey Kong Bananza was a huge hit, and the GameCube is obviously welcome (for those who can get it), but everything else seems to be hotly debated at best and just bad at worst.

I'm enjoying Donkey Kong Bananza so far, it's an impressive technical achievement. the difficulty started off a little mindless, but after getting through the top-most layers the concepts are starting to click more, and some fun challenges start showing up, even though the difficulty is still on the lighter end.

Mario Kart World is a very flawed game, and I don't think it's worth it outside of the Switch 2 bundle where you can save 30$, but despite everything I've still enjoyed the game for what it is, and think some concepts like knockout tour, and parkour maneuvers can be kept and improved upon in later games.

New poll up on the wiki! This one's about Flower power-ups! I made one about Mushrooms earlier, so now it's time for the flowers to receive the spotlight!

Which Flower Power-Up is your favorite?
  • Fire Flower
  • Ice Flower
  • Boomerang Flower
  • Bubble Flower
  • Cloud Flower
  • Gold Flower
  • Superball Flower
  • Power Flower (Super Mario 64 DS)
  • I have no opinion.

I voted Gold Flower because it's fun!

I have a soft spot for the Boomerang Flower. Maybe it's from those halcyon days of playing a whole lot of Super Mario 3D Land, but I liked some of the tricks it enabled one to pull. I remember making a little game of trying to see how many times I could jump over a Boomerang while still having it collect a coin. It felt satisfying to get an enemy from a distance on the return, especially a Magikoopa just appearing or a Sandmaargh just surfacing.

Boomerang Flower because those outfits are FIRE (not as much as fire flower btw)

I voted Bubble Flower because it is my fave powerup in Wonder, it is satisfying to use, it can take out Dry Bones, and the purple aesthetic looks great, especially on Luigi!
