post any random Mario thought on your mind

Mario Party Superstars wasn't even on the list. There's probably a reason for it when it was discussed in the Awards committee, but I found it a bit strange considering it was released on October 29, 2021.

Mario Party 10 is 11th on the list, beating out only Mario Party 1 and the handheld installments not named DS.

Yeah, as I said, they wanted another flying character. Flying characters in Tennis games tend to be these slippery tricky characters but rewarding since you can move more freely while charging and whatnot.

Yeah the results might be different if Superstars is on the list.

As for why the results are what they are? Well, I mean Hammer Bro. beat out everyone again for "Worst Character" this year... Might as well sign up for Hammer Bro. fanart.

So I had this dream last night about a TV series called "Edgy Mario."

It was live action and so gritty that I kept laughing when I woke up because it just doesn't fit the franchise. Mario smoked and Daisy had that haircut where you shave the sides of your head, and everybody was all serious and stuff. Bowser was basically a monster and Wario was legit evil. I wasn't physically present in the dream, like I couldn't see myself in it, but the dream was dead serious. I guess that's part of what made me laugh so hard when I woke up.

Just realized, the Mario movie is going to be the best animated Mario media outside the games and probably one of the best animated Mario things ever

that seems like a low bar to cross
Idk, Luigi's Mansion 3 and Strikers looks pretty good, I wouldn't mind the movie to look something like that but since it'll have movie budget it'll probably look better. Still feels weird to think about even if it's a low bar

I mean, comparing a movie's graphics to a game's graphics is an apples to durians comparison; movies rely on pre-rendered scenes while games have to live render everything.

I bet Sticker Star, visually, is closer to the original idea of what the developers wanted than Thousand-Year Door or Super Paper Mario.

Yep, the main art director behind TTYD and SPM didn't even return in Sticker Star while the guy responsible for turning Mario paper in the first place directed Sticker Star and Color Splash and worked in Origami King and had no involvement in TTYD and SPM. Visually, those games were aspects that Sticker Star did actually go back to the roots of in regards for Paper Mario.

I don't know enough whether this is unpopular for it to be in Unpopular Opinions About The Mario Series, but Double Dash's Mario Circuit music is nothing special. 64, Super Circuit, and Wii each have a much better and more catchy theme for those kinds of tracks.

The Bandwagon is a much better name though especially for a car that's music-themed

I use Baby Luigi on a Badwagon with Monster tires and the Super Glider/Plane Glider, you can fight me.

remember that brief period of time (2016-2018) when nintendo forgot how to properly implement a simple "Restart" button to their mario games?

- Mario Run doesn't have one for Toad Rally unless you lose. would come in handy for when you mess up your starts.
- Mario Tennis Aces didn't have one for the Story Mode missions until an update
- Mario Odyssey has it for the minigames/balloon challenges, but it's placed after the Quit button because fuck intuitive design

I'd love it if Nintendo didn't have a restart button for Time Trials

Fun Facts (Round three): A small detail about official art for Mario Power Tennis that is difficult to notice without closely analyzing the images is that whenever the bottoms of the tennis rackets are visible, small Nintendo GameCube logos can be seen inside them. This is absent from actual gameplay and is limited only to official artwork.

Anyone else thought the Koopalings were foreshadowed for color splash? In Paper Jam, Roy questioned why there wasn't Paper version of them and then a year after that game came out, we got Color splash that had Paper versions of the Koopalings.

Koopalings had it pretty good the past 10 years. From being in the NSMB games, to being playable characters in Mario Kart and Smash Bros, to even getting fleshed out in the RPG games. (If only they had alternative costumes/colors in Smash).
