What’s the DARKEST moment in the Mario franchise?

[Andy 28!]

How many will expect the Mario series isn't known for being dark but it has some moments very dark, and I think it's a moment of Partners in Time or Brothership (spoilers of the game), that trees that drains the live of the Toads shocked me,

but I think it's even darker this:

the dream flowers are flowers that trapp you into a fake reality where your dreams come true (like this example of Arc finding his dad on the fake reality) and they even trapped Mario and Luigi, they are in the mushroom kingdom and everything is in peace, but the dark thing on this is that Reclusa made this because in the reality you're going to die of hunger and you never want to escape because is your dreams coming true, the people has to give credit to Brothership of giving us the darkest moment in the franchise. So what you think?

[Xiahou Ba]

so dark, you can barely see what is going on here

[Super Jack Sunshine]

The darkest moment is when the plumbers enter World 1-2 for the first time because what the hell. Why is the bg black. So dark and scary

[Fanny]

the darketst moment is when Mario DIES!!!!!!!!

[Sparks]

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time is probably the darkest Mario game out there.

[Koopa con Carne]

in Mario's Time Machine when Bowser steals the completed rabies vaccine from Louis Pasteur and Pierre Roux before it could be industrialized. If Mario had failed to retrieve the vaccine, that would have had some dire ramifications. Objectively both the worst thing that Bowser did and the darkest thing that could have happened in a Mario game because, ignoring the goofiness of a giant dragon turtle wreaking havoc by traveling through time, it entails a realistic scenario of millions of lives lost due to a preventable disease.

in Bananza, K. Rool resorts to terrorism.

the darketst moment is when Mario DIES!!!!!!!!

when did that happen?

[Princess Viola]

the darketst moment is when Mario DIES!!!!!!!!

and then mario came out of the tv with blood-red hyperrealistic eyes and said LETŚA NOT GO and he snaped my neck and killed me.

[Xiahou Dun]

Out of all subject matters to help children practice their typing skills, Mario Teaches Typing chose the part where the United States dropped atomic bombs on Japan.

[Andy 28!]

when did that happen?

In Super Paper Mario Dimentio killed Mario, Luigi, Peach and Bowser and sent them to the underwhere, but I'm agree with Sparks Partners in Time is without question the darkest Mario game, aliens that are dying and they are traveling in time to save his species, maybe this was a trauma for Mario and Luigi seeing that they want to kill them and they have to be saved by his adult versions, but also the chapter 4 of TTYD is dark.
