Mario Kart World

So there are 40 vehicles, but only 20 different stat groups. And based on the data that I've seen, only the acceleration stat is capable of achieving a 3.8/4 rating; speed can get up to 3.4/4; weight can get up to 3.2/4; handling can get up to 3/4.

This truly does feel strange, especially when compared to Mario Kart 8 (Deluxe), where every stat could achieve a 5.75/6 rating.

Wiki doesn't mention that Samantha Kelly isn't in the credits, are we waiting for official confirmation on that?

EDIT: Will add information now that there is official confirmation from Kelly herself.

PETA calls for Nintendo to redesign the Cow in Mario Kart World. The reasoning is because of the nose ring it has, which is "used by the meat and dairy industries to exploit, control, and even drag animals to their deaths".

PETA also says that milk causes autism and lest we forget their brutally violent "games" centered around Nintendo properties, so their statements are immediately dismissed.

I honestly wish the Koopalings were playable characters in Mario Kart World 😟 and I also think some characters are somewhat obscure and only diehard Mario fans will recognize such as Conkdor, Peepa, and Fish Bones as in casual players may not be familiar with them.

I've played the game with people who are unfamiliar with the more obscure Mario enemies, and they still seem to enjoy those characters. The concepts are pretty easy to understand (ostrich like creature, silly ghost, fish skeleton).

I personally wish the miis were included in this game, but I completely understand that the vision was to zero in on the Mario universe specifically, I also never really liked the implementation of the miis in 8 because the helmets made them look pretty much the same.

I honestly feel uncomfortable playing as a Mii in Mario Kart lol. Also the voices sort of get on my nerves, at least the female ones especially when I play as the Mii based off myself. I also totally get what you're saying about casual players. I used to be one myself when I first got my switch but it's been three years now and I'm currently a diehard fan.

Yeah, I agree that the voices for the Miis have always been pretty bad.

I got hands-on with the Switch 2 and Mario Kart World just the other day and I wanted to lay all my thoughts out, starting with the console itself

- The bigger form took some getting used to, but it's alright.
- The screen is so much better than Switch 1, imo.
- The left joystick felt so smooth, not sure why the right joystick felt different.
- the UI felt too similar to the Switch 1. The new sounds are a nice touch but it just isn't enough.

and for Mario Kart World itself?

- The driving physics this time around are smooth, but you need to get used to em a bit
- The jump and drift NEED to be different buttons. Often times I wanted to to charge up a jump but I ended up drifting instead.
- I did not care for the open world. The intermissions are boring and I wanna race all three laps on a track, especially online. It was a good idea, but the execution just needs to be better
- A nice roster, though I'd prefer actual characters over the mooks and NPCs. Moo Moo Meadows cow can stay though, that's funny

It's a great game, but it's pretty weak considering it was a launch title. Overall I'm not picking up a Switch 2 of my own yet, but then again picking up a console so soon after launch is always more of an investment than anything

They could have given Baby Luigi a Swimwear costume for synergy with Baby Mario but noooooooo
Plus, Baby Mario and Baby Luigi have very similar meshes and skeletons, it's not difficult at all to recolor his outfit green but nope, can't have that now can we?

My uncle's neighbour's wife's boyfriend works at Nintendo and told me this was consciously done so Baby Luigi always keeps warm in case someone decides to play as him in a snowy course. I have it on good authority they love and care for him, which is why sacrifices sometimes need be made.

Can you explain why Donkey Kong and Pauline only have one skin each? There's bunch of missed potential there.

Hopefully they're planning an update.
I remember that discussion in some other place. Problem is, Birdo also lacks costume yet she's also not confirmed for the upcoming Yoshi game, so doubt that is an intentional plan.

I think the actual way to make it fair and unpredictable is not giving every racer many costumes right at the launch, which mean to keep Mario and Peach's outfit in BCP too. There is no need to put all Mario cosutmes in the base at all.

But that hadn't stopped Mario from rocking boxers in the goddamn Snow Kingdom!

But apparently they have no consideration for Baby Mario being in such a situation, it seems...

The use of stickers as the main reward for open world exploration is a baffling choice to me. I actually like the little world-building touches and creative designs they provide, but what kills them is that you can't even see them on your kart most of the time.

I staunchly believe those stickers are the worst customization I have ever seen in a kart racing game. It's worse than the ugly hue sliders in Diddy Kong Racing DS (because at least that game had other aesthetic customization for your vehicle, and those hue sliders are actually much more visible than those stickers). Having recolors for your cars would be so much more development cost efficient AND much more rewarding to have than those fucking stickers.

i just wanna be able to design my own graphics again like they had in DS and only DS. If Super Mario Maker 2 can allow users to draw stuff and post it in levels for anyone to see, i don't see how they can't bring back custom emblems. you'd think moderating both would be a similar endeavor. Trolls post not-okay drawings in SMM2 all the time and it's not considered a huge scandal for Nintendo, you just report them if you see them.
