MarioWiki Poll Discussion

It's why I love stuff like Paper Mario so much, they really went for a wholly unique and gorgeous art style, one that everyone was fully behind, its turned out far better than if they'd kept down the 2D but in a 3D space style the early games tried.

It's a tough choice for me, in the past I probably would've said SMB3 and/or its remakes as I like the sprites in that game a lot, but the art direction in Wonder really sparked some new life in those characters, nice to see they're sticking with it for Mario Kart World. That being said, I also agree with BLOF that a game using Nakaue's art style would be really cool.

Gooooooooooooood Morning hope everyone is excited for a polltastic day! Boy do we have a treat for you! Today's poll was crafted by the elusive, mysterious and really cool person you should bake cupcakes forrrrrrrr, it's @Paper Plumm!

Of the Mario games set to release for the Nintendo Switch 2 which one are you most excited for?
-Mario Kart World
-Super Mario Party Jamboree: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV
-Donkey Kong Bananza
-Mario games on Nintendo GameCube - Nintendo Classics
-I am not looking forward to any of the titles listed above.
-I have no opinion on this.

For me personally it's got to be Mario Kart World. I've had so many fond memories of playing 8 with my sisters, so getting to play one that has a ton of new features that will make it all the cooler is just really exciting.

While I'm not thinking of getting any of these games (at least not at the moment), I'll say Mario Kart World looks to be the best of them.

First poll of June 2025 by me! With the release of the Nintendo Switch 2, it's a perfect opportunity to discuss how we play Nintendo Switch games!

How do you like to play Nintendo Switch/Nintendo Switch 2 games?

  • Using one Joy-Con with only button controls.
  • Using one Joy-Con with motion controls.
  • Using two Joy-Cons with only button controls.
  • Using two Joy-Cons with motion controls.
  • In handheld mode with both Joy-Cons attached to the console.
  • In tabletop mode with both Joy-Cons detached from the console.
  • Using a Wired Pro Controller (no motion)
  • Using a Wireless Pro Controller with only button controls.
  • Using a Wireless Pro Controller with motion controls.
  • Using Mouse Mode from a Joy-Con.
  • I prefer playing Nintendo Switch games a different way from those listed above.
  • I have no opinion.

I prefer to play my games with using Joy-Cons with only button controls. I like attaching them to that controller, which counts for the "Two Joy-Con" option.

This is a really hard poll to conduct with a single voting option, as my choice varies depending on what game I'm playing. I actively avoid using the control sticks on my Switch Lite, as I don't want them to start drifting, so I actually have a list in descending priority.
  1. If the game can be played with the D-Pad/+ Control Pad/D-Buttons/so on, then play directly on the Switch Lite
  2. If the game requires a control stick, use a wired controller. I use Hori pads because they're cheap to replace if they start drifting
  3. If the game requires a control stick and uses motion controls or rumble in a prominent manner, use a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. The second clause isn't quite an optional vs required divide. The best way to communicate the distinction in a short space is probably using Super Mario Odyssey, a game where a fully featured controller is not required but one that feels immensely incomplete without one.
  4. If the game requires a control stick and is of a franchise that I am a fan of, use a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller for the first playthrough and a wired controller for replaying. Mario games and Kirby games go here.
Since 1 takes priority over all other possibilities, I guess "In handheld mode with both Joy-Cons attached to the console." is the most accurate.

New poll is up this week from everyone's favorite villain: @Mind Master! Maybe he'll try and steal the Banana Hoard...

Which Kongs would you like to see return in Donkey Kong Bananza?
  • Kiddy Kong
  • Tiny Kong
  • Chunky Kong
  • Lanky Kong
  • Candy Kong
  • Funky Kong
  • Wrinkly Kong
  • Swanky Kong
  • I would like to see a Kong not listed here appear.
  • I'm fine with the current Kongs shown so far.
  • I have no opinion.

I voted Funky Kong because he's the one I'm familiar with the most!

Personally I would love to see Funky and Swanky appear

The first poll of July, and it was brought to you by...drumroll please...Me! It's all about Paper Mario, can you believe it's been over a year since the Thousand Year Door remake?

The Paper Mario series' art style has kept a papercraft look since Paper Mario: Sticker Star. What is your opinion on this look?

-I enjoy this style.

-I like this new style equally to the old style.

-I enjoy the new style, but prefer the old style.

-I dislike the new style and prefer the old style.

-I dislike the new style and think they should create a different style.

-I have no opinion.

Have and always will be a fan of the new. Its just simply gorgeous and so unique and clever with its artstyle. Old's still great but its nowhere the sheer spectacle of the new.

Gonna vote that I enjoy the new style, but prefer the old one. The environments look amazing in the new style, but the choppy character animations and white outlines bother me.

I really think the papercraft style is the way forward, especially after the series goes into the high-definition. It looks amazing that way. As for the outlines, that didn't bother me mainly because I feel that they wanted to experiment with the look (remember that this was the first HD Paper Mario), and it didn't look too bad.

Thank you for reading.

Hello Yello! Hope everyone's having an amazing summer, its certainly been a hot one. Aaaaaand hot off the presses is a new poll from @Mind Master about something that'll help power up your summer! Please enjoy to your fullest extent!

What rarely seen power-up would you like to see return?
-Frog Suit
-Hammer Suit
-P-Balloon
-Carrot
-Superball Flower
-Blue Shell
-Gold Flower
-Super Crown
-Weird Mushroom
-Shellmet(Buzzy/Spiny)
-Super Hammer
-I would like to see a power-up not listed return.
-I have no opinion

Hammer Suit for me. Probably my favorite obscure power-up that I'd like to see return.

Personally the Blue Shell for me because it's a much Cooler version of the Penguin Suit plus it has all the same properties besides the ice powers

Going with personal nostalgia and picking Gold Flower. It lets you have all the coins, opens up routes that are normally inaccessible due to Brick Block ceilings/floors, and is the best way to blast through scores of enemies. It's also probably the fairest one level only powerup, since it doesn't trivialize almost everything the the others do.

Weird Mushroom is a strong second: we haven't seen Weird Mario in 3D yet.
