post any random Mario thought on your mind

"Lemmy doesn't seem like he should be able to drive, he's probably not old enough." -me, seconds before remembering this is a universe where literal babies can drive

I did go to the RMV today though and I don't think they would be happy knowing what goes on in the Mario universe but I'd imagine they could at least get Lemmy a learner's permit or something.

I was taking this practice drivers test online and the sounds that play when you get an answer right or wrong were literally sound affects taken straight from Super Mario World. So I went to a Super Mario World sound effect website and played the correct answer sound over and over to trick my family.

Incoming Nintendo lawsuit lol

Why do the Fury Shadows look like Luigi? Is there something about what Luigi thinks about Mario that Luigi hasn't told us yet!?

(The idea of Luigi having a dark side, as "established" in Smash Bros. Brawl and I think Super Paper Mario, is so weird. But like, is there any other explanation as to why the Fury Shadows look like Luigi? Correction: any other in-universe explanation. I'm less interested in "maybe they wanted to put Luigi in the game in some form" and other hypotheses of that vein.)

Perhaps Bowser Jr also created that by accident like how he turned Bowser into Fury Bowser.

I just learned today after reading the wiki that the Star Spirits from Paper Mario were the hosts of different modes in Mario Party 5 😱

The Star Spirits from Paper Mario being the game's hosts are what made me wanna buy Mario Party 5 in the first place. Haven't played the game in ages since buying it though, since my Gamecube controller is experiencing joystick drift and I dunno how to fix it.

I love it when Mario songs feature melodies from previous games by pure coincidence. Like, "Run, Jump, Throw! 1" from Super Mario Odyssey has no right sounding like "Goal!" from Yoshi's New Island.

Some other examples I can think of this are "Merry Mountain" with "Minigames: Main Menu", "Rainbow Road" from Mario Kart World with "Super Bell Subway", and "Dandelion Depths" with "Bowser's Road".

Anyone remember that long letter chain in Paper Mario that involved you delivering a sequence of letters across the entire world that looped around to the same person? I'm probably the only one who liked that part.

Parakarry should have just done his job in all seriousness.

That outgoing flag isn't to alert people that you put mail in the box, it's for the customer to tell you that there's outgoing mail in the box!

Also, how did Bowser and his minions take over the various places in the Mushroom Kingdom while making it look like nothing happened? There are no signs of a struggle on the way to places like Dry Dry Ruins and Crystal Palace, and Mario has to collect various keys and items to progress further in these areas. You'd think those places would have busted doors and stuff to indicate they took over, but nope, they look tidy as ever.

If you played Mario Kart World's Free Roam, when you destroy props, they eventually respawn as if nothing happened, so that explains why everything looks as it does after Bowser took over.

Maybe the Mushroom Kingdom is just so big and sparse there's no indication of leadership changes in those areas and the news is slow to reach there (see Toad Town's dysfunctional post office)

I feel like Mario and Kirby could be in the same universe based on similar art styles and the similar seeming aspects and mechanics.

"What was the first track in Mario Kart World called? It was, uh... Circuit City." -me, a few minutes ago

(it was, in fact, not Circuit City)

Super Mario Galaxy 2 has more forgiving prankster comets as in they come more often and more consistently, which means in my opinion, Galaxy 2 is better for 100%ing the game.

Mario Galaxy 1 is also a great game regardless and is still fun to 100% complete. I'm still in the process of fully completing both.

The biggest missed opportunity of Bowser's Fury is not including Cat Chain Chomp. Think of all the CatDog jokes that could have led to! (This is why Cat Piranha Plant, while similar, does not fill the same niche Cat Chain Chomp would.)

Now that I think about it, Nintendo should totally have a Cat Chain Chomp as a major character in a RPG. It could be a intersectionality metaphor. A trite intersectionality metaphor, but Super Mario isn't exactly about complexity. We'd have some fun making obvious "should I bark or meow" and "should I perch in a tree or sniff at a fire hydrant" jokes, then bring it to an emotional conclusion at the end.

Well, a year has passed and I once again am obligated bring up King Ka-Thunk in this forum and remind everyone of his lasting legacy to the Mario franchise.

This is yet another annual post I made about King Ka-Thunk where I talk about his huge cultural impact he has on the Mario franchise.

I mean, he does! He's the first king character with eyes for a species that doesn't have eyes. The first [some number of qualifiers] [noun] has to count for something.

They did not feature the Slider theme from Mario 64 in the first movie, but I hope they bring it to the second one! 🥺
