  • In the U.S., I don't like the term "authentic" to describe ethnic food that better matches country of origin. It implies the food here is "faked", "bastardized" or "tastes worse/cheaper" by default, like people aren't allowed to experiment cuisine with different ingredients. Moreso, a lot of the "inauthentic" "Americanized" food were developed by immigrants from their food's country of origin. I prefer distinguishing cuisine as "traditional" and "Americanized".

I'm not the biggest fan of Panda Express, but I like their food all the same, and I've heard anecdotes of middle-aged Chinese immigrants who people think would balk at the food loving the food all the same.

Love the video! Oh yeah, she definitely voiced my concerns. I used to internalize the whole "Chinese American is 'fake' and 'authentic' is better" myself until I realized.... no.... it's just another take on Chinese food. I just hope people who love Chinese American food also experiment with more traditional food from various regions because they're also really good. I'm upset people characterize Chinese food as "cheap" and "dirty" because I always thought they have a reputation for being delicious, even fancy at points like dim sun and hotpot restaurants, and China is just a cultural giant when it comes to cuisine.

Why "American"? It's not like hot dogs originated in the U.S.
It's weird when the hills in my area are starting to turn green from the recent rain even though it's supposed to be brown and dying season in other places.

Just watch out, they may be sprouting eyes before you know it
I just imagine people yelling about Mario like they do with Sonic games

    "MaRiO wAs NeVeR gOoD"
Why are Mario games frequently so horrific at options? No sound sliders (like what if bgm get you content ID while you're streaming; there's no way to disable this while keeping other key aspects of the game like sfx and voices; other games disabling music would actually help people detect important noises more easily), no control stick sensitivity adjustments, not a single smidge of accessibility like color blind mode, text size changes, changing audio cues to visual cues, no way to remap any sort of button (like wouldn't it be nice if people with motor issues or don't have a reliable other hand to play can play if buttons were remapped especially for button mashers and control stick rotation minigames; also people going from Xbox/Playstation to Nintendo games will appreciate a remap), no game speed adjustments besides text speed; probably more. I went to Mario Party Superstars's options and it was pretty shocking on how there's so little you can do there. It might as well not even be there.

The game's tutorials and easy-to-explain nature is a plus, as well as the really easy-going bots on easy and the assist modes of other games, and it's nicely baked into the game design, but beyond there, the options menu in Mario games tend to be extraordinarily pathetic. An absolute disgrace of these menus. Do better, Nintendo. And this should be highlighted more.

nintendo is real bad at accessibility options apparently. i was surprised to see tropical freeze even had separate sfx nd music sliders
im always in favor of games having tons of options. let people customize just every little detail! this euro truck simulator 2 game my mom plays seems to have SO many options and i think thats sexy
and yet so many games cant match. the car simu;ator game in terms of options

I feel simulator games are kinda granted to have options... but then there's Animal Crossing with the same problem that I've seen in most Nintendo games.

I found a neat site about accessibility guidelines for game developers. You can see pretty well that besides the aforementioned tutorials and assist modes, Nintendo could do a lot better with their options. But explore! There's testimonies from people with cerebral palsy, missing arms, hearing issues, colorblindness, etc. Remapping is a consistent problem with Nintendo games barring Smash Bros. actually.

okay maybe I should try this out

I also saw this mod but I'm sure that's not gonna be for the entire game, but I can dream. I also get some Warriors vibes from this.

"The Sora makes its presence known with plaintive whistles and whinnies rising from the marshes all across North America. Despite its abundance, it is not often seen: As with other rails, it spends most of its time hidden in dense marshy growth or wet meadows. Occasionally it will walk about in full view at the edge of a pond, delighting any birders who happen to be nearby. Although Soras might seem like weak fliers when seen fluttering over the marsh, they regularly migrate long distances, many going to South America for the winter."

Unpopular opinion but sites shouldn't be hosting "enhancement" mods for female characters and the like. It's super aliennating for me. It's on the same ick I get for people that create mods that whitewash black characters like Nessa from Pokémon.
I don't care how you judge me, but if you are a spider and decide to hang near my peripheral vision and nearly drop on my lap while in the middle of me driving a car for nearly three hours, you're gonna get searched and destroyed by a mask box once I park.
