Nintendo Direct Thread (Do NOT post here unless one is announced)

"Next we have more news about an upcoming treasure-hunting game!"

EH?

*Quirky hip hop starts playing, the kind you hear in Wario games*

OH MY GOD

*Camera pans to some kind of ramshackled abode in the middle of nowhere*

IT'S WARIO LA-

"Hey everyone! Here's some fresh news about Splatoon--"

If I had a nickel for every time they had an ocarina of time remake, I would have three nickels. which is weird, but it happened thrice right?

yeah gonna be honest, this was probably the most disappointing direct in quite a while for me. there's a healthy list of mario stuff i felt like should be coming any day now, and this direct was also after an unusually long wait since the last general one. i was pretty confident my list of hopes was broad enough that at least one of them had a good shot at being there. Switch 2 editions for TTYD or Brothership, Mario Maker 3, new 3D Mario, or some sort of Mario Kart World DLC. The pipe dream was a Super Paper Mario remake, but i felt like there's no way we would get nothing significant for Mario at all. I'm beginning to worry that Nintendo just doesn't plan to do most of these things, other than the 3D Mario which I understand that has to come eventually and probably not soon.

I'm actually pretty interested to see how Ocarina of Time remake will turn out, but just seeing Link sleeping invites practically no comment from me at all, other than being a small glimpse into what the game may probably look like. I know we're getting another Ocarina of Time remake, but tbh, the 3DS isn't particularly a fantastic system to showcase it, I think it's fair they try again at a console release with much greater specs.

I agree with fawful, this was the worst one and the most disappointing.

In all seriousness though I'm pretty patient about video game series by nature. I do get excited when there are new releases that look promising, but can also be happy with what I have. That's just how I see things though. I also completely understand the different perspectives of people wanting to be sure that they're getting their moneys worth with new releases.

What does actually peeve me a little is the artificially time limited nature of the Donkey Kong stuff that they showed. It's not even that interesting to me in the first place, but I just don't like it on principle.

Something I've seen going around a lot is Big Walk. It's become a fan favorite for the people in some Discord servers I'm in, and it even being made by the same developers as Untitled Goose Game really interests me. It seems like a fun time, especially with the bits you can make with the signs and item shenanigans they showed off. Big Walk Sweep I guess lol

Honestly, this was legit a wonderful Nintendo Direct!

My only expectation going into this Nintendo Direct was to finally get a release date for Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave which I am eagerly awaiting, and it finally got one hooray! That said, I was secretly hoping that maybe, just maybe there could be some Xenoblade content into it, and my god, I was absolutely NOT expecting getting NS2 Editions of the whole Xenoblade Chronicles trilogy AND an all-new Xenoblade game coming next year! That was such a welcome surprise. Splatoon Raiders and Ocarina of Time remake coming later this year is cherry on top of the cake really.

My hands are full.

Nintendo got me to sit down for an hour of advertisements I did not care for. Truly I have been played, the biggest mark in the history of the universe. Well done Nintendo.

Jeez, there's a lot of people here who didn't care for this Direct, huh?
Well, I'm gonna give my 2 cents and say I was pretty satisfied with this one. Sure, there was a mix of games I didn't really care for (I lost count of how many games had dragons in them...), but when it came to the good reveals, they were GOOD. Splatoon Raiders, Rhythm Heaven Groove, DELTARUNE Chapter 5 (!!!)... Kinda weirded out about the near-abscence of Mario announcements, but I think I'm okay with that. This was the first Direct in almost a year, so they had to deliver with this one, and I think they stuck the landing really well! Here's to hoping we get another Direct this September so we can get more info on that Ocarina of Time remake! 🤞 (Spoilers: we will not)
