Mario Kart Tour

idk if that's red hair or the tails of a red bandana

Anyone else notice that this game is becoming very laggy?
With the 2.4.0 update, more RAM is used (and CPU as well if you use the dynamic switch between portrait and landscape), this makes the game perform worse on older phones.

With an iPhone 6, you need to use Power Saving mode to be able to finish some races, otherwise the game uses so much RAM that it ends up being killed by iOS in the middle of some races or before the results, invalidating the whole race.

Well ****. I use iPhone 6S Plus. It should stop using so much ram damn it. If your app is crashing phones you got a problem

To be fully fair, the site explicitly says that phones with just 1 GB of RAM aren't supported, consequently they rejected my ticket about the game going out of memory.

The game isn't even supposed to run on my phone, so I'm already lucky that I can still compete in ranked cups without spending a dime.

Your phone is supported though, so if you notice major reproducible issues you can file a ticket using the built-in support dialog.

It completely ruins the aesthetic of the track, before it was a half destroyed fortress in the middle of the air, surrounded by airships, now it's just another generic lava track that has airships in it.

Yeah I prefer the ruined, isolated, sorta spooky aesthetic of a track rather than this.

Gotta agree. They call those things airships and why not have a fortress in the sky?

But if you think the lava is a good change, then that's fine too! I just see it being too close to Bowser's Castle at this point though.

I don't mind the lava theme too much and I like when developers go the extra mile when remaking a track, especially so in a game that is known to favor SNES and N64 courses since they are easy to remake, but I'm surprised that they didn't follow the Ruined Kingdom theme, since that track was already very similar in both concept - ruined castle - and color choices.

The Ruined Kingdom entailed in a lot of misery for developers according to the Art of Super Mario Odyssey, so maybe that kingdom will just remain the way it is... Forgotten.

Huh, I didn't know the developers had a tough time making the Ruined Kingdom. I...I think that may have changed my perception of the kingdom.

Here's the developer comment on the Ruined Kingdom, particularly from one of the art directors.

Rikuto Yoshida; Art of Super Mario Odyssey; page 258 said:
Each kingdom in this game is distinct from the others, and from the very beginning we had ideas for a medieval fantasy world complete with a dragon boss. Even so, we had some difficulty deciding which direction to take this. At one point, scheduling difficulties made it seem like the stage idea itself would fall to ruin... Still, we found a gameplay style we could agree on and somehow made everything work in the end.

Like the T-Rex and Sphinx, we aimed to make a by-the-book dragon design that would offer players a realistic surprise. Both its looks and the gameplay made this boss difficult to assemble, and you could often hear the stage lead uttering their own cries of woe. Despite the difficulties, though, I think this stage is a fine addition to the latter half of the game.

How in the world does Daisy have more alts than Luigi

Or Wario (who also has more alt costumes than Luigi)

Hey so if I wanted to add information to the wiki about what the exact kanji are on these gliders and what they mean, would I put it in the main section or would I add a trivia section?

Main section. I'd minimize the amount of trivia as possible.

To my curiosity, did this game think about advertising with very new characters within this year?

The newest addition we got was Peachette. In this year we got LM3 and Origami King. It feels like Hellen and Olivia would be a hot cake for tour features.

Of course, veterans like EGadd deserve this more. But if Tour wants to dig into a bigger roster and cater to advertisings more than console games do, I feel like it wouldn't be bad to count those exclusive characters or new faces.

Boring trivia

Past kart racers outside KMT(Not including collaborative guests
Tiny Kong, Honey Queen, Petey Piranha, DKJr, Wiggler Paratroopa

DMW but not MKT
Kamek, Baby Wario, Dr Goomba Tower, Dolphin, Blooper, 8-Bit Dr. Mario

The design of Luigi's Mansion King Boo has the crown of LM3 King Boo, so I think that game was already covered.

Paper Mario is a much more complex story: Mario Kart: Super Circuit was developed by Intelligent System, hence the references to Paper Mario's Peach's Castle as an example. On the other hand, Goomba King in Mario Kart DS had the non-flat appearance and name of SM64DS Goomboss, therefore it was more a SM64DS reference. Since then, it was rather Paper Mario: Color Splash and The Origami King that referenced Mario Kart 8, the opposite didn't really happen and I'm not sure if they really want it to happen - it made sense for Intelligent Systems to do so, much less for Nintendo and Bandai Namco.

Yeah, it could be kinda misleading to mention Peachette, but I wanted to highlgiht "brand new characters".

And still, if Nintendo cannot make Mario games acknowledge everything happened under its franchise but different teams must conflict with each other, I think that's not just dissapointing fans but also a dumb move for advertising matters.

------------

It's weird my " DMW but not MKT" point worked. Maybe not all people would be happy with how DKJr is dealt, but that's kinda a compromised result considering he is non-canon now.

But if NIntendo feel the need for Mario Kart to look back to its own history, I really hope other Mario game branches do that same (looking at Paper Mario and Mario Golf).
