Pokémon Mafia 2 - Game Thread (Day 2)

I don't think I'll be voting today, lads. Not any information, as far as I'm concerned.

Montgomery

That's Lightning to you! Or, anyone, really. Just because I'm past my prime doesn't mean I have to default to my deadname.

(Also, should I sue this guy? I'll have a talk with my lawyer after this!)

Vote: Montgomery McQueen, is that a shiny Revavroom?
Shiny? Yeah. Reva...whatever? No.

For now, I'll follow the majority and vote: No Elimination. Can't risk anything when we don't have anything to go on.

Xiahou_Ba_-_Face_1A_(DW8).png

Xiahou Ba: As funny as it is to roll the dice and have the first person be executed at pure random and turns out that he was mafia, a massive boon for us all if we are lucky, the chances of that are not in our favor. It's around a quarter chance, which is roughly the same odds as landing an OHKO move like Horn Drill or Guillotine. We risk executing someone with a pivotal role to the game on the flipside, whether it's a doctor, or a cop, or maybe a suicide bomber or a bulletproof, or any other role, and we just cannot risk taking that gamble without any information.

It's best we wait until helpful roles are done in the night, action is taken, information is gleaned, and see who gets murdered on the night phase before we make a decision. Scouting is the least risky play we can do.

Some of you may die but it's a sacrifice we are willing to make.

Wait a minute....

vote: No Elimination

"It appears I find myself amidst a party of like-minded investigators, as the majority of them are in agreement that playing it safe during the first day of the investigation is the way to go when we have very little in the way of information to go off of. The moment the dark sacred night sets in, we must make use of our wit and skill, and the resourcefulness of our Pokémon and their powers to gather what information we can to bring back once the night yields to the breaking dawn. I do find myself in agreement Xiahou Ba that some of the investigators might have their lifeblood shed by the thieves that dwell within our presence, but that is a chance we must be willing to take. For if we do triumph over the outlaws in the end, the martyr's blood of the fallen investigators shall water the meadows of Johto, as a symbol that those who perished in their line of duty shall always be remembered for their bravery and courage."

Talking now, but primarily because the Mafia is likely going to target someone who hasn't piped up, since quiet targets are often the best for early game. Vote: Power Flotzo for the sake of having a vote somewhere and having some kind of information going into tomorrow. Voting no elimination on the basis of no evidence is fine, but if the Mafia does kill someone quiet, we're going to have just as little information going into Day 2, so I'd prefer there be any level of choices on the board

Yeah, I think I'm gonna hold off on voting for now- just in case I need to throw in a counter attack later if the thieves try to land a quick attack at the end of things! It's hard to know who to look at for now, but that Fanta person looking at the Revavrooms like that is a little weird... but we're all thinking that, right?

On a side note, it looks like we've got another new form of Pokémon! Hariyama Deluxe... I wonder if that's a form, an evolution, or if it's like those Iron Hands I've heard about from Paldea? I really want to see one of those for myself someday, they sound amazing! This guy looks more like he's related to a Probopass though- or Shmilbert? Hey, maybe he's a Fighting type specialist and that's he has as his partner Pokémon!

Ugh... having any involvement in this predicament is far from my cup of tea, but admittedly, I do not find myself drawn in others fainting everywhere near my poor little person. Be that as it may, it seems I must play a role in this depressing story, and I believe appropriate to cast a vote for No Elimination. There is very little to be said about our current situation, and the risk of having two pure-hearted people fainting around us is greater than us effectively targeting those who are to blame for at the end of the day. Mathematics and all that. Please, spare me from explaining everything up to the details...

RP_Cecilia_Portrait.png

Furthermore, I find myself wanting no involvement in a grotesque matter of liability. My spirit is gloomy enough as it, as you may understand.

Vote: No Elimination

Do you feel it? The corruption lurks before our very eyes, creeping just beneath the surface. We have a lot of work to do before it is cleansed, but it wouldn't be wise to make a hasty decision. For now, I will refrain from planting any votes.

In the meantime, please try not to trample the grass. It's rather crowded here...

Vote tally:
No Elimination (5) - Boo1268, Coco, Xiahou Ba, Power Flotzo, Ninja Squid
Revin (1) - Fantanoice
Power Flotzo (1) - Roserade

: You choose to stay your hands, seeking further information before you act. That is just as well. A well-honed spirit does not act in haste. Night falls. I shall see you to your lodgings. Rest peacefully, but do not dampen your instincts, for none know what discord the night may bring.

IT IS NOW NIGHT ONE.

Use this time to privately submit actions to the hosts. You may submit your actions or ask questions in your role PMs. As stated in the lounge thread, night phases will last for 23 hours to allow the hosts time to process night actions. Some leeway will be granted for the first night if necessary, but please be mindful of the deadline throughout the game.

Night One ends at Adjusted Time .

"And so the shiver of night arrives...I wish you all a good night, and may the majority of those who are on the side of good live to see the night yield to the breaking dawn once more."

I've never seen anything like these Revavrooms in Digi-World.

If these Mafias are anything like the Dark Masters, then they're bad news. If I can just find Tai and a good meal, I'll take care of them!

: My efforts were in vain. I am ashamed to say one among our company has fainted. To think such a rare and wondrous creature was attacked in unsanctioned battle on these sacred grounds...

Agumon (Fantanoice) has fainted! Agumon was…

: We mustn't allow these acts to continue to stain the walls of this shrine. We must determine the identity of the culprits. Sage Koji investigates the scene as we speak, but has located no physical evidence. I fear that only intuition and wisdom will guide us to the answers we seek.

S2_Sage_h1yswh.png
: I must humbly request your thoughts on this matter once again. Consider carefully what has occurred here, and bring forward your conclusions.

A CLARIFICATION HAS HAPPENED!

  • If you receive "But it failed!" as a result, this means that your action was blocked in some way, whether by someone roleblocking or interfering with your role, or the player being targeted having some form of protection against your action.

IT IS NOW DAY TWO.

You may use this time to discuss suspicions and to cast votes towards a player's elimination. To place a vote, use the format: "Vote: Player". The player with the most votes at the end of the phase will be eliminated. To vote for no elimination, use the following format: "Vote: No elimination".

Day Two ends at Adjusted Time .

The first victim fallen to the corruption already... Things are grim indeed.

Perhaps you should all know that someone among us has the power to prevent another from voting, speaking from firsthand experience. I'm afraid I'm going to be all bark and no bite today.

I only hope their intentions were misguided, rather than malicious...

Xiahou Ba: Iya iya iya!? We had an innocent die before us last night, right when I was polishing my armor? And that person just so happened to be the one person who cast the joke vote towards those talking wagons! They're pretty funny, aren't they?

Anyway, we got to get people speaking up in this game. Lots of stuff must have happened over night and remaining quiet is exactly what those secret ambushers want out of us! So, what I'm going to do is start casting votes on who I think is the most suspicious at the moment. That'll force them to talk and generate discussion among us!

I've seen this comment yesterday from Roserade, who claimed that Mafia is "likely going to target someone who hasn't piped up". Well, Fanta didn't exactly stay quiet, but they did cast a joke vote, which is around the same as being quiet. Mafia did exactly what Roserade had suggested, which must means that they know something or two about how they operate. Maybe they were Mafia in the past? Or are they now? Convince me to withdraw my vote from you!

Vote: Roserade

Solarus:
Indeed, the situation has become rather grim as of late, from my experience nothing EVER good comes from darkness and night, it is as the cards claimed! Tragedy will befall us all! However to counter act this I ask you all for me to read your fortunes so that you may possibly change your fate in time and turn on the right path!

*sigh* Someone has indeed fainted. What a regrettable situation, but so it goes... While I must confess that I have the slightest desire to involve myself in this preposterous affair, it would hardly befit one such as I to appear governed solely by my self-interest.

That being said, one important point is that dear Agumon was hardly silent, and casted votes on specific individuals around us. Would it be possible that Agumon was on the trail of a suspicious individual and that it was preferable to silence them before it became a worrying situation? A mere hypothesis... Of that, I won't be ready to treat it as self-evident truth. At this stage, everything might seem more or less far-fetched.

Yet there is one matter that gives me cause for concern. The atmosphere is rather too quiet. As much as I may long for peace and solitude to delve on my grievances, I cannot shape this wrong feeling that I am currently being treated like cannon fodder. Is it there play? That we find ourselves at odds over trivial pretexts, and thereby playing right into their hands?

I hope not, but I do not like this silence either.

Vote: Fun With Despair

I have a distinct feeling that you have a certain talent for this sort of endeavour. Might there be some suggestions that could prove useful during this matter?

It's me Roserade with my hit Pokemon inspired roleplay, Roserade

It's standard Mafia practice to put a hit on a quiet target day one. It'll ensure that there's as little information for town as possible. Of course, day one conversation isn't going to be the most fruitful thing anyhow, but why risk your kill placing focus on someone who's proven to be conversational to begin with? Plus, those with more valuable innocent roles tend to remain quiet early on to avoid getting a target on their back, so aiming for a quiet innocent is a good chance to knock out someone powerful.

For the sake of appearances, a Mafia member would be crazy to push for a day one kill when everyone is universally aware that sparse information exists. For that reason, and due to our player numbers, there's a high likelihood to me that at least one person who voted No Elimination yesterday is a mafia member attempting to get easy brownie points. I'm going to look silly for voting Power Flotzo twice in a row for no real reason, so instead I'm going to Vote: Ninja Squid. This was going to be mostly baseless, but then he posted while I was typing wow hi there

Highly unlikely to me. It's more likely that the Mafia is attempting to create any sort of frame job that might exist, despite the vote clearly being unserious. Commentary like this would be an easy way for a Mafia member to frame our thoughts surrounding the kill.

As for FWD, he's come out the gate with a Miller claim that I'm willing to let sit unchallenged for the moment, but hold it with scrutiny. I wouldn't put it past him to put up a Miller claim first thing as a ploy for Mafia alignment, but if he really is the Miller, it would behoove us to reveal that asap so that any town reads on him are informed

"Ah, it seems that the first victim on the side of good has fallen to the thieves that dwell within our midst, just as I had feared would happen...While their demise is unfortunate, we must carry on and try to snuff out the crooks before they claim another innocent soul during the night. I find myself in agreement with Xiahou Ba once more on the deduction that remaining quiet isn't exactly going to help our case heading into this second day of the investigation, and while casting a vote towards the Roserade did get them to speak up and provide a good counter-argument to the case Xiahou Ba made, it still doesn't draw any suspicion away from the Roserade as things currently stand. That being said, I will Vote: Roserade for the time being, seeing as the ancient wisdom of "actions speaking louder than words" could very well be of use as things currently stand, with what little information that we have go off of, and I do not wish to become a sitting Psyduck towards the outlaws conspiring against us."
