[TRANSMISSION INCOMING]

Last year, and the year before, two anomalous occurrences were observed. Manifesting as Class IV abnormal occurrences of the yearly event known as "Scribble", these incidents (referred to internally as BPI-0921 and BPI-0922 respectively) displayed significantly altered rulesets beyond what is typically seen within the bounds of physical reality. These abnormalities were ultimately linked back to individuals known as @Thanos (Car) and @Lin Beifong respectively, and though their whereabouts are currently unknown, an event of this significance has not occurred since their mysterious departure.

The sobering reality, however, is the temporary absence of such anomalies does not preclude their future reoccurrence - and as such, we at the Bureau of Paranormal Investigation have built a robust virtual training program in an attempt to ensure that we may build a new set of emergency response teams, well equipped to deal with future emergence. With this in mind, we at the Bureau fully expect a level of sabotage from the rival organization known as the Crimson Eye, a potential critical threat to our future operations as they attempt a variety of sophisticated cyber-attacks against this new prototypical training program. Please remain vigilant and alert as you complete our experimental training.

Welcome, new recruits. Welcome to the new world.

  • Scribble, including this event, is a competitive drawing tournament. Typically consisting of five rounds, Scribble famously tends to prioritize humor, concepts, and execution over raw talent in its voting - so artists of all skill levels can join and thrive.
  • When you're ready to draw, simply request your prompt from our discord bot. While different rounds may have different time limits, most rounds typically allow for 3 hours of drawing time after receiving the prompt.
  • An average Scribble drawing is limited to a 600x600 pixel canvas (or 10x10 cm), and must use a limited palette of only three colors: Black, White, and one color you choose at the beginning of the tournament. This color will primarily represent you throughout the game.
  • At the end of the week, your drawing will be pitted against the drawing of another artist who had the same prompt as you. The winner will then be decided by vote.
  • You may sign up in addition to (or instead of) a full signup as an Inktoplasm. These mysterious spirits fill in gaps within the game, replacing absent players, facing an odd-numbered team, or a new, third thing.

Teams_gtkqcq.png

  • Much like last year's Scribble Labs 2: Double Vision!!, this game will feature Teams, as the format proved a resounding success.
  • You may sign up with a friend, or sign up alone. If you choose the latter, you may either choose to be paired with a random individual who also signed up alone, or new to this game, you may choose to become an Inktomancer. More details on that later.
  • These teams of 2 must then compete with other teams in a unique challenge each round.
  • At the end of each round, whichever team is voted the victor wins a point.

Scoring_twg2dr.png

  • During each round, teams will face off against each other in a match. In that match...
    • ...Player 1 from Team A will battle Player 1 from Team B.
    • ...Player 2 from Team A will battle Player 2 from Team B.
  • At the end of the round, voters will be asked to make three decisions. These decisions are...
    • Who did better, between Team A's and B's Players 1?
    • Who did better, between Team A's and B's Players 2?
    • Which Team did better when comparing all four pictures?
  • Whichever Team wins more of these decisions is declared the victor and receives a point. It doesn't matter whether they win 2-1 or 3-0.
  • Some specific rounds may potentially be scored differently. This will be made known when the round debuts.

Challenges_uzekm3.png

  • Round 1: INVERSION
    • While drawing, you may use the inverted form of your opponent's color, in addition to your own. This color's hex code will be provided to you upon taking the prompt.
  • Round 2: EYEDROPPER TRICOLOR
    • Three colors are permitted, use of black and white is prohibited.
    • Each player will be provided a random image, the colors used must be chosen via eyedropper from this image. These images may be sourced from the Wiki, forum events, award presentations, and other related sources.
      • These images will be provided alongside the final scribble, to show the origin of the palette.
  • Round 3: COLORING BOOK RELAY
    • An evolution of last year's RELAY BATTLE. Each player will have 1.5 hours to draw part of a Scribble in either black-and-white, or their color. Once finished, the other party will have to complete the image using either black-and-white or their partner's color - whichever was not utilized by the first party.
  • Round 4: PARTNER PILGRIMAGE
    • Following the rules of 2024's Picture Pilgrimage, your assignment will be to work with your partner and create a panoramic scene out of your two prompts.
    • One partner (of the team's choosing) will draw a 1200*600 image, then their partner will be given 25% of the initial image and continue it into a second 1200*600 image that carries on the first - albeit with a different prompt.
    • The two images will be combined into a whole and presented against your opponents as a singular image.
      • You may use your partner's color in addition to your own.
      • This round will work on Olympus rules. Each party will have one week to draw their part of the image, with no restrictions on time.
      • Information and planning may be freely done between partners, however the second will not get their prompt until the first is complete.
  • Round 5: [DATA EXPUNGED]
    • ???
    • It's a secret to everybody.
    • CHAOS
  • A more in-depth explanation of the challenge will be given at the beginning of each round.

://[ALERT] DATA BREACH DETECTED//:
  • Sabotage is the main gimmick of this particular Scribble tournament. As the rival organization known as the Crimson Eye attempts to carry out a comprehensive cyberattack on our training program, so too will our top-performing agents be Sabotaged.
  • Upon winning a matchup, any individual team member that won against their opponent in the combined match will be given a Sabotage Point.
  • At the beginning of a match, any user with a Sabotage Point will be given a random Match Condition that they must follow. These conditions can range from something like "Every character in the image must have facial hair", to "The image must contain at least one spider lily" - these are merely examples, and the majority will be player-submitted.
  • If the conditions are not followed, the hosts themselves will edit your final image to reflect the conditions. This will not be good. Do not allow this to happen.
  • Sabotages will not be revealed specifically, though Sabotage Point counts will be made public.
  • Upon losing a matchup, one Sabotage Point will be removed.

Start-Time_fdi6mx.png

  • The goal is for this tournament to start on June 8th, and run for five to seven weeks.
  • People will (usually) get 5 days to draw, one day to vote, and one day to rest.
  • Depending on certain factors, particularly with regards to the final round, this may take slightly longer.

Other-Info_hzqlsl.png

  • Much of Scribble's foundation is based on trust, and this will be much the same. Please do not cheat.
    • As you are working in teams, there is higher potential for cheating. In COLORING BOOK RELAY, for example, please do not share your work with your partner in advance. When communication is allowed, it will be communicated to you in advance before the round begins.
    • Other forms of potential cheating include tracing, the use of vector graphics, and brush effects beyond the basic hard-edged binary brush (pencil) available in the vast majority of art programs. An exception is made for traditional artists, for obvious reasons.
  • Speaking of traditional artists…
    • Much like Double Vision!!, I understand that the rounds that require you to share an image with your partner may be difficult. There's not really an easy solution to this, however if you cannot submit a digital image, we will attempt to make a photo or scan work for your partner. Likewise, for Partner Pilgrimage, we will attempt to make your image fit into the given bounds if you print off your partner's picture to work off of, or even draw something new with the shared boundary in mind.
    • As before, if you have to share a color or similar, we'll allow anything vaguely close for physical artists. We understand that it can be BS to try and find an exact match.
    • For traditional artists, as before there will be about 15 mins extra allocated to scanning, sending, or otherwise preparing your picture for submission. I will be relatively lenient on this front as sometimes printing may be necessary. If a few extra minutes are required from physical artists, I won't be an asshole provided you don't abuse this to obviously cheat.
  • As with previous Scribble Labs games, this one will be a bunch of experimental nonsense. Don't worry too much about winning or losing, we're throwing things at the wall here and they may or may not be sticky. Some of these gimmicks might be odd, but that's ok.
  • This may not be the only Scribble game hosted this year. We don't know if another will be done later within the year, but it's fully possible that a mainline Scribble or another variant may appear.

Signups_nqg2eo.png

  • To sign up as a team of two:
    • Post your and your partner's name.
    • Post your and your partner's color (hex code and color name)
    • Get your partner to like the post, so that we know they consent to this. They can make their own post to that effect too, if you have a cool idea.
    • Please give your team a cool Codename. Having a team name is crucial to maintaining Bureau morale.
  • To sign up as an individual:
    • Post your name
    • Post your color (hex code and color name)
    • You may sign up for a random partner, in which case a partner from other solo players will be selected and assigned to you. Alternatively, a solo player may sign up to be an Inktomancer, a role which will be expanded on below. A solo player who signs up for a random partner when none are available will either become a backup or an Inktomancer, depending on their preferences.
    • Feel free to use the awards discord to look for a partner. Let me know if you want to group up with one of the other free players.
  • If you have not had a showing in a previous Scribble, or have changed the character you wish to represent you since, post a character reference with your signup so that we know what to draw for your character portrait. Otherwise, we will represent you as we see fit...
