According to one of the Ripley's Believe it or Not! books I own, the water pressure at the deepest location on this planet is equivalent to an elephant in high heels standing on your head.

After studying that image enough, it appears that those people are supposed to be human incarnations of the Star Spirits and Shamans from the Paper Mario series. And I'm probably guessing that Count Bleck (unmasked) is holding onto Rosalina's mother.
 
I feel like the little kid in front of Rosalina could be Starlow too.
