That black and white area with the top hat theme gives me a strong Count Bleck vibe. I'm not going to set myself up for disappointment and say he might appear, but I hope there's some sort of callback or implication that he has a connection with that area.

Not top hats but depressing black-and-white areas combined with top hat themes and the fact that the thing that set off that game's plot is happening again here. Just seems like a good opportunity to throw a bone in that direction. I'm not pushing for anything major but even something subtle that shows they realize the similarities would be nice.

I think it's more related to Cappy looking like a ghost wearing a hat when Mario first meets him, I find he has quite an evil face sometime, and makes me wonder if he will be involved in a plot twist near the end.
