I'd like to see the koopa corps, or maybe just the whole army. Maybe Bowser pointing forward, leading them all? I'm not sure, and sorry if I sound a bit demanding with the art.

Re: The Pyro Guy's 3D art thread (with some 2D thrown in)

So, like a bunch of mainstream Mario enemies? I'll see what I can do.

Ignore the axis in the corner. And the texture bugs on the piranha plants. I might look into it later to see if I can fix it.

it looks like you need to enable mirrored tiling for UVs on rather than repeat tiling

Re: The Pyro Guy's 3D art thread (with some 2D thrown in)

The Goomba is pretty square too.

Re: The Pyro Guy's 3D art thread (with some 2D thrown in)

That's either a smoothing or a normals problem.

I don't think Pyro Guy uses 3DS Max so I can help him fix the faceted models.

There aren't any modern models for Goomba. That one was from 3D Land, so it's bound to be low quality, and smoothing doesn't seem to work on certain models, e.g. Groose from skyward sword. 3DS Max is something that requires money to pay for, so that won't happen unless it requires education.

I played around with Blender's texture tools, but I couldn't find a mirrored UV option. Although I did find the solution to removing the grain; add more "samples", whatever that means. Here's a preview image of something grainless.

I'll be using this every time from now on.

Re: The Pyro Guy's 3D art thread (with some 2D thrown in)

Well I'm just saying that I know how to fix faceted models with 3ds max. Hell if you need help that bad you can always send it to me ;)

blender should have an option that deals with UV tiling settings somewhere. If not you have to fix the uvs yourself. You do this by splitting the part in half and mirroring the selected uvs.

Re: The Pyro Guy's 3D art thread (with some 2D thrown in)

Oh it has UV settings, but the tiling is useless junk like "checkered". I could try to do some mapping, although it hasn't always worked before.

You can ask for the method, but I don't know anyone here that uses Blender so I won't write it down unless people want me to.
