Can't you use the hover nozzle and use the ledge to go back to the beginning of the level without actually starting over?

ive never seen it done, plus the ledges where you're safe are pretty slim and im not even sure if the lilypad even respawns.

The Lilypad doesn't respawn iirc, and the only way that I've beaten the level is walking along the edge (though I think the last time I played it I managed to somehow get 7 of the 8 coins with just the lilypad, so yay).

The blue coin ones because I never got all of them :v

I didn't like the poison water thing though I used to do what BMB did and just walked along the side. Wasn't too hard though it was time consuming, especially if you missed a lot of them. The trickier part imo was getting Yoshi over there to clear the pipe - that really tested my patience.

Haven't played Sunshine in a while, but I remember that this one was really tough.

Toxic Waterfall > Balloons > Yoshi's Fruit Adventure > Watermelon Festival > Pachinko > Big Yoshi's Merry Go Round

I dunno why Yoshi's Fruit Adventure isn't on the poll... The two I have after the Watermelon Festival I never really considered hard stars. If I felt like sitting around all day listing every single shine I'm pretty sure they would fall out of the top 6.
I'm pretty sure I wouldn't consider the Merry-go Round the hardest secret in the game, I remember a couple others giving me more trouble but I haven't played in a while so whatever.
Among these Toxic Waterfall and Yoshi's Fruit Adventure are the only ones I never beat as a kid... I put the Balloons infront of Yoshi's Fruit Adventure here because I haven't been able to beat it since I was a kid.

Yoshi's fruit adventure is a joke. Just spin jump to a platform thats a decent way close, spray the crap from a distance then spin jump/hover over and in you go.

Never understood how Watermelon Festival is hard. If you're patient and you kill the Cataquacks with the exploding sand things, it's a piece of cake.

Those exploding sand things? You know, you spray water into it and it launches you in the air. If you make a Cataquack launch with you, it will get killed

The level that gave me the most grief by far was the one where you need to clean Sirena Beach under a time limit (Sirena_Beach#Episode_6:_Scrubbing_Sirena_Beach): for years, I could not clean that damn beach fast enough. Then one April Fool's Day after months of not playing the game, I beat the level in one go.

Funny enough it took years for me to notice that looked like a giant boo from above.

I didn't remember any Sunshine mission as being particularly difficult, although I never tried to 100% it. The watermelon one is very annoying, but not that difficult....

... but then seeing this post brought the horrible, burried memories back in an instant. FUCK this mission.

What exactly is so hard about Watermelon Festival anyway?

I don't know if I had a supremely lucky break, but the mission didn't give me much trouble. I did spend some time fooling around and killing every cataquack I saw with the inflating sand thing. I remember that I pushed the giant watermelon off and it freaked out and careened and it didn't explode, lol. So I just rolled it to the bridge and finished the mission.

I remember watching Chugga doing the watermelon mission, as well, that one was frusutating.

It's more tedious and unfun than hard.

I had literally no trouble with the watermelon level and don't see what makes it so hard.

As for my answer, poison ass red coins.

But the secret ones where you spray a random spot are pretty stupid.

Well, honestly the game was hard in general, but I would probably say the Sirena Beach episode 1 gave me the most trouble. You know, the level where you are timed to spray the manta, and then get a rid of those pesky baby mantas.

Sirena Beach in general is pretty tough.

Episode 1: A fight with the toughest boss in the game
Episode 2: A secret stage
Episode 3: A maze
Episode 4: A luck-based casino mission followed by another secret stage
Episode 5: A luck-based boss fight
Episode 6: A boring goop cleaning mission
Episode 7: As usual, chase Shadow Mario
Episode 8: A timed Red Coin mission
