post any random Mario thought on your mind

I don't remember where it was stated that Yoshi's full name is T. Yoshisaur Munchakoopas or if it was official, but I'm sure Nintendo doesn't think that by now. I think it's just Yoshi.

Random question: what is your favorite color of Yoshi? As in, what color looks best on the character?

The color that results when they're blended together!

While I really enjoyed the first Mario movie and had a blast watching it, I agree that there are certain flaws and issues the movie has that I hope are addressed in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

There's also the fact that fans were really quick to dismiss the critics reviewing the movie (I should know, I did it too when the movie came out) that didn't fall head over heels in praising it. I have a feeling this might happen again when reviews for Galaxy come out.

I feel that this behavior of vehemently defending a movie from any and all criticism, saying "the critics don't understand it!!! they don't understand how Mario works!!!" reflects rather poorly on the Mario community and fans.

There is no such thing as a perfect film, heck, even I know that my favorite animated movie, Cars, has some flaws under the hood (pun ENTIRELY intended), but the notion that the Mario movie is free from criticism just because it's Mario is a really poor one.

I know everyone thought Mario Golf: Super Rush was super mediocre but I'm having fun. Honestly though, my favorite part so far is just how styling my Mii is in all the different world outfits. I thought my hoodie was my most iconic outfit but I'm loving the golf outfits.

I also thought Mario Golf: Super Rush is a nice change of pace from the other Mario Golf games. It's basically that series game that is outlier, such as Wario Land 3. I think it's quite cool that the players can run around the golf course, even though it is pretty limited in how much they can travel. This is the kind of game that would lend itself to photo mode like Mario Kart World with everyone chilling out in the golf course (and the city).

I suspect that Super Rush is different partly due to the low sales total for the previous game, Mario Golf: World Tour. That's a game that felt like the pinnacle of the traditional golf experience, but despite its course selection and characters, it didn't seem like a success, so the developers understandably wanted something different this go around. I am not sure if this should be the future of the series, but I can say that because this is different, a Switch 2 Mario Golf has no problem going back to traditional (or even get a Mario Golf: World Tour Deluxe) and not cannibalise this game.

Thank you for reading.

I like Mario Golf Super Rush. It is a fun game! I honestly prefer playing it over Wii Sports golf. I don't own the game, but I always enjoy it whenever I borrow it.

I probably should try out Super Rush someday but the completely nerfed post hole animations really are such a bummer.

I'm sure it was just for the sake of making the model a little easier but Bowser Jr.'s shoes in Super Rush look like they're velcro shoes and I just can't help but feel like it's so on brand for Bowser Jr. to either not know how to or be too lazy to actually tie his shoes.

I rewatched Thomas Game Docs' video on blue shells and their purpose, and I agree they shouldn't be hated on. Rather, it keeps the game interesting and adds a new layer of strategy.

I really like how Mario will sit down if you don't use the remote for a little bit in some 3D games. Especially in SMG, because then I can make him sit on one of the couches in the observatory

I had a crazy dream about a 3D Mario Party game that focused more on action and way less RNG. Players could explore boards without having to roll dice, but a certain distance counts as a "space". The boards themselves have way more interaction, and there are new items like a Dr. Mario capsule.

It was so realistic I made a very detailed Discord post about it! This would be an awesome game.

That'd be pretty cool! 👍

I'm glad Nintendo went back to their 3DS and Wii U era style of creativity. They seem less afraid to try new and unexpected things with the Mario franchise. To me, I'd say a good example is Super Mario Party Jamboree. It's a great game on many levels! They added new modes, new mechanics, new characters, and other additions while bringing back some classic N64 and Gamecube era games. Now you might be thinking, where does the 3DS and Wii U era tie in to this? Well, the art style of Jamboree reminds me of Mario Party 10's art style and I love that. I also feel like the whole resort vibe of the game reminds me of Island Tour. I've never played Mario Party 10 or Island Tour but I've seen gameplay and I've got to say that both seem to be very underrated games.

I really hate how they removed all the characters' signature victory moves and replaced them with generic signs of excitement. What happened to Mario stepping back and punching the air (in DS, it's a backflip followed by punching the air) or Luigi's two jumps followed by his elbow pump? Same thing goes for the losing moves. If you know what I'm talking about, you know.

I don't know what games you're talking about? Mario Party?

Oh. I'm a fan of the GCN era animations for sure, I've grown up with them. I'm fond of both of Wario's losing animations. But I think the animations improved considerably since the GCN games. I'm really a fan of Mario's winning animation in Mario Party Superstars and Super Mario Party Jamboree for instance. I really like the hat tip in Jamboree in particular, and I don't think it's a generic animation. It's very suitable for Mario. Some minigames have very specific animations too, such as the famous doughnut eating one and I also am a fan of the one where losers are idly chatting in the background.

The recent ones since Mario Party 9 have been mostly very stale. They feel like random poses that could belong in the platformers. The GCN era animations felt very energetic and had a vibe to them. I used to play as my two favorite characters Mario and Luigi all the time in Mario Party DS, and when I saw them backflip and jump and pump their arms after winning a minigame, I felt a surge of adrenaline.

I also feel like the recent victory poses are a reflection of the ND Cube-era's decreased intensity. The old Mario Party games were known for being passionate and fiery. It was a fierce, ruthless competition to see who could get the most Stars and coins, and one mistake or stroke of bad luck could send you tumbling all the way down to the bottom, usually accompanied by intense rage and loud swearing. The victory poses for those games were a reflection of that, as the characters weren't just celebrating, they were bragging about their victories. The newer games, ever since Mario Party 9 have dialed down the intensity in favor of more lighthearted fun. I really miss the old days.
