The thing that bothers me is that the vest Toad wears looks more like a back brace because it doesn't even cover his shoulders.

Something about this guy always seemed off to me.

Now this guy look normal to me, thanks to the many games of Salmon Run! In my opinion, this fish looks closes to the Cohocks, the large Salmonid in the middle of the picture below:
