I'd love to see Blooper and Hammer Bro playable again. And if Spike can stop being a boss then I'd love to see Dry Bones return. These may be generic enemies, but they were already playable before. 8's roster was by far the best in the series, so 9's was disapointing. I mean yeah they had to have bosses but still.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with generic enemies.
There are probably more people that like Goomba than there are that like a specific Goomba such as Goombario. The reason why it is not ideal to have RPG characters in stuff like this is the fact that not everyone has played the RPGs and probably wouldn't even know the character, or the importance of the character. And like BLOF said, they were made for their part of their own spin-off of Mario. But I digress; it's better to have generic enemies due to the fact that there will be a greater range of people that would like that character.
