My favorite part of the direct is Smash Run

When I saw it, I thought "Kirby Air Ride" and funny enough, that's exactly Sakurai's inspiration

Well this Direct was not what I expected, but it was definitely good. I guess my favorite part: Charizard is now its own character. x 5. Plus Midna as an assist trophy and Eevee as a Pokéball.

i can't remember if the trailer said it, but, judging by their appearance in charizard/greninja's trailer, togepi, gardevoir, suicune and kyogre also seem to be back in terms of pokeball pokemon.

snivy and zoroark also seemed to be in the crowd so i guess they're pokeballs too?

The character reveals were meh. Charizard is an overrated generic dragon, whatever; Greninja, probably won't use it extensively. What I'm excited for. however, is the Smash Run mode. I loved City Trial in Kirby Air Ride, so I'm greatly looking forward to spending hours in that mode. I also like the new explosive items and the moveset customization. Finally, I hope Mario gets buffed.

The worst part of the trailer was Mario being a punching bag for the newcomer. Again.

Honestly, I think Sakurai only showed the shadow of Ridley so that fans could be unsure if he was deconfirmed or not, and when he is deconfirmed for sure, they won't be as surprised by it.
