Pokémon Mafia 2 - Game Thread (Night 2)

I find myself in agreement with Xiahou Ba once more on the deduction that remaining quiet isn't exactly going to help our case heading into this second day of the investigation, and while casting a vote towards the Roserade did get them to speak up and provide a good counter-argument to the case Xiahou Ba made, it still doesn't draw any suspicion away from the Roserade as things currently stand.
Can I ask what you specifically find suspicious about my actions so far? I'm not sure I understand what I'm failing to "draw any suspicion away from"

"I'm not implying that anything about your actions thus far has been suspicious. I'm implying that your counter-argument against Xiahou Ba's reasoning doesn't clear you of being Mafia, for having previous experiences being on the side of the Mafia in games like these could suggest that you may be on the side of the Mafia as we speak right now. And while I will admit such a String Shot in the dark is Farfetch'd, it still feels like a much more fruitful strategy than doing nothing, since that is basically the equivalent of saying to the Mafia: "Here, kill me.""

Uh... well I'll admit that threw me for a loop. I guess the thieves are tyring to use Confusion, because I kind of thought that the... I want to say Johtonian Tyrunt?... might have been with them based on their weird behaviour yesterday. Well, there's a reason why I research eggs instead of solving crimes! I wouldn't really know where to start voting though, as we still don't really have much to go on. Let's try to shake out a bit of information from one of the Revavrooms, they're both uncharacteristically quiet, usually you can hear their species a mile away! Vote: Revin, you've been a bit quiet buddy, any thoughts? I know this probably puts a target on my back but oh well, it's worth a shot.

I cannot say that I am liking this current endeavour either. Roserade has been insisting on getting someone fainted as far as it goes, from keeping a vote on our first day of business, while fully cognizant of the risks such a situation would have posed to all of us if not one but two innocent parties would have fainted.

I say that, but obviously, the risk of that happening was on the lower side, therefore I find it entirely understandable that one might consider there to be little reason for suspicion here. Nevertheless, I prefer to keep the possibility in mind still.

RP_Cecilia_Portrait_Angry.png

No, the issue at hand here is the projection of doubts that some hidden wrongdoers may lie among those who submitted a vote for No Elimination. I, for one, believe it to be just as possible that our Innocent party did not wanted to gamble on the risk of losing a pure-hearted person, and giving a higher advantage to the evil. Myself, that was certainly not a risk I was willing to take. That is a entirely legitimate choice for us to make and it doesn't make us malicious any more than choosing to eliminate someone on the first day. If anything, those with dark intentions have more to gain by trying to get rid as many pure-hearted individuals as possible when such opportunities are being offered to them.

RP_Cecilia_Portrait.png

What I find difficult to accept is voting for someone on the first day as an act of trying to have some kind of information, then the following day to cast immediate doubts and suspicions towards those who voted for No Elimination as some sort of evidence on display that someone malicious is hidden there. While the possibility is there, the full on projection leaves me with a lingering sense of unease.

Logically, yes, the likelihood that someone evil is hiding among the No Eliminations voters are high, I will not deny it. However, evil can be anywhere at the moment. In those who casted a vote on our first day here, among No Elimination votes, among the most talkative individuals or even among the quiet ones. Therefore, I beg you pardon for not dwelling on that specific matter for the time being. We have no way of knowing exactly where our questionable beings are or what they may have up their sleeves, and to put it frankly, I find it rather unsettling.

I will remove my vote from Fun With Despair. He has yet to speak, and as I understand, may have claimed a specific role. However, let us be reminded that this would not be the first time he would have put on a fake claim in front of us. Therefore, I shall remain vigilant.

Unvote: Fun With Despair.

You have, I must admit, been rather forthcoming with us dear Solarus. Yet, you have not addressed much of your own views regarding the matter that concerns us all. Therefore, I must ask, do you have any doubts or suspicions that might lead us towards a dubious individual hiding among us?

Solarus:
Indeed I do miss! While I have been hesitant to express my opinions on the matter, that is only due to the fact that I wished to hear others opinions before expressing my own, however if you wish for me to speak, I shall, I believe that due to the large amount of players who voted no elimination, its less likely the case where someone who voted for said choice is guilty of being the criminals, but rather that there was no need to shed blood without proper info and assumptions to go on, infact the only person to make such claims did so just as a joke, with no true serious intent behind this claim.
However I do believe that there COULD be someone guilty of the crime and that is Mr Mc Queen, now while I could be wrong on this account, Mr Mc Queen and Mr Sonic seem to have some sort of history with each other, indicating a rivalry, alongside this consider something miss Fanta had claimed before her death.
Unvote: Montgomery McQueen, Vote: Sonic McQueen

I meant to vote for the blue one
Now while I may just be assuming here, could it very much be the case where in a state of brilliance, Mr Mc Queen, wanting to not only get rid of his dople ganger, but also to frame Mr Sonic KILLED Fanta so as to pin the blame on them? Alongside this Miss Fanta first voted for Mc Queen! so perhaps not wanting a thread to be loose he ended her before people begain to suspect him? Now while I AM aware that this vote was simply a joke vote, votes in this game in my opinion are nothing to be taken lightly, as one singular vote against you could spiral into the wrong person getting convicted due to a singular passing vote. As such, I belive that in order to draw suspicion away from themselves they pinned the blame on Sonic. However once again this is all speculation on my part and I could be wrong about all of this but this is a theory im somewhat confident about.

Hello, everyone, it's me, Sonic McQueen. Not to be confused with Lightning McQueen, who should be suing Wikipedia for spreading misinformation about what his legal first name is.

I haven't read anything yet because I am a well-rounded individual who has other commitments in life, but for now I want to hear more from the miller man.

Vote: Fun With Despair

mill_2827791b.jpg

My apologies, lads - you've caught me in the middle of something. This here is me lovely wife, by the way. She will not be speaking today because she is not in this game.

My claim of Miller rings true. though I can't say I've got much in the way of leads. I don't have one of 'em fancy role powers you're all about. I'm not one to go laying blame for the "crime" of not executing a man in cold blood, but I'm inclined to agree with Roserade that those votin' for no lynch stand to gain more in the way of social goodwill than your average bloke. Unless these Mafia fellas coordinated their silence, I can't see a world where one of 'em didn't speak up in favor of a deathless afternoon.

Of course, that leaves us a comfortable pool of five, doesn't it? Now, I've dealt with my fair share of rascals in my day, always messin' with my grain, so don't go thinking I'm particularly dull in the head. I'll expand that list out to six for now. The sixth, of course, being Roserade themselves. The way I see it, placin' a normal vote on a normal bloke carries about the same weight as votin' for nothing, right? Places you as an active player, but avoids that same pitfall they were talkin' about.

It's me Roserade with my hit Pokemon inspired roleplay, Roserade

It's standard Mafia practice to put a hit on a quiet target day one. It'll ensure that there's as little information for town as possible. Of course, day one conversation isn't going to be the most fruitful thing anyhow, but why risk your kill placing focus on someone who's proven to be conversational to begin with? Plus, those with more valuable innocent roles tend to remain quiet early on to avoid getting a target on their back, so aiming for a quiet innocent is a good chance to knock out someone powerful.

For the sake of appearances, a Mafia member would be crazy to push for a day one kill when everyone is universally aware that sparse information exists. For that reason, and due to our player numbers, there's a high likelihood to me that at least one person who voted No Elimination yesterday is a mafia member attempting to get easy brownie points. I'm going to look silly for voting Power Flotzo twice in a row for no real reason, so instead I'm going to Vote: Ninja Squid. This was going to be mostly baseless, but then he posted while I was typing wow hi there

Xiahou_Ba_-_Face_5A_(DW8).png

Xiahou Ba: Hi! I am Xiahou Ba, hero of the Three Kingdoms. I guess I did vote a bit impulsively but I am so glad you spoke up! I was just a little bit worried nobody is going to do anything or say anything, but your response is exactly what I wanted. Right now, I am just utterly too pooped out to say anything (I fought a particularly hard battle), but my vote for you is just a bluff vote. My apologies, I wouldn't actually push for a lynch against you, I don't have much information myself.

Unvote: Roserade

However, there IS another person I have to address before I rest for now...

"Ah, it seems that the first victim on the side of good has fallen to the thieves that dwell within our midst, just as I had feared would happen...While their demise is unfortunate, we must carry on and try to snuff out the crooks before they claim another innocent soul during the night. That being said, I will Vote: Roserade for the time being, seeing as the ancient wisdom of "actions speaking louder than words" could very well be of use as things currently stand, with what little information that we have go off of, and I do not wish to become a sitting Psyduck towards the outlaws conspiring against us."

Xiahou_Ba_-_Face_1A_(DW8).png

Xiahou Ba: Hey there! I have noticed that you're agreeing with me a lot, but I have to tell you that you can't agree with me like this and follow whatever I do. Bandwagoning is one of the many things you can do to get exposed as a mafia member, especially since the thugs know each other and coordinate kills. You have to be careful about this going forward, and especially in day one where we're still kinda scouting. If, say, Roserade was executed and turned out to be innocent, that could potentially land both of us in a lot of hot water and thus, lead to one of our execution the next day.

Anyway, I don't know who to vote going forward. As I said, I had a particularly tough day of work and I can't think straight. I'll read into this later before this day ends.

Xiahou Ba: Sorry. My apologies for a late post, I don't know if it's the heat messing around with my head or what, but I still really can't confidently decide on who to vote for. I'm aware that I am indeed one of the No Lynch voters on day one and I understand that this can be done for Mafia brownie points (especially those who bandwagon off of it; however competent players also know not to do this so obviously to out themselves), but some like myself genuinely believe that the chances for random lynching and what happens if it lands on the wrong target on day one is a far too great of a risk to undertake. That is why I went for it on Day One. Obviously this does depend on what the mafia tactics and each individual: what could appear as a case for brownie points also isn't necessarily a tactic they are relying on either. No Lynch on Day One is a very vanilla strategy regardless, so many confirmed innocents have voted day one no lynches across history, so I wouldn't use that as smoking gun evidence to pursue a lynch either.

Regardless, nobody has really made convincing cases for me to decide so far outside from Fun With Despair, who has boldly roleclaimed as a Miller very early. Also, once, again my inexperience in participating strikes: what exactly is a Miller?

I know I'm not the happiest about Sonic being the same model I am (I was supposed to be custom-build, y'know), frame-up is taking it a bit too far. I haven't been around since the murder took place, so where would I have tried to place the blame onto Sonic? Also, about the rivalry bit... I've never seen him before in my life before we all got here. Honestly, this all seems like a half-baked frame-up job on YOUR end.

As of right now, I still don't have any serious contenders for most suspiciously behaving people, but speaking from previous experience with these types of games, I am inclined to vote for a person who hasn't spoken nor done a whole lot since the investigation began.

Like I have said Mr Mc Queen, this is only a theory, so if I am wrong in my assumption then I apologize, but notice that I myself did not VOTE for you, like I have said before, I believe that votes in this game are a powerful thing, as such when I do decide to cast my vote I will only do so with substantual evidence to support it, thankfully your story does to have merit to it, so I will put aside my theory for now until more evidence is provided to prove you truly guilty or trutly innocent.

You lack patience... The mighty oak doesn't grow from an acorn in a day.

I've lived for centuries, and seen the corruption in many forms. To try and overwhelm with its influence and lead others astray, or stay silent beneath the surface. Or perhaps to hide in plain sight, appearing as if it were not a threat at all. I see the seeds of all of it here... But it's too early for me to confidently place anyone one way or another.

For now, I'd very much like to hear from the ones who have remained completely silent since dawn broke.

"Mm, that is a sensible approach to this investigation, I suppose. Just like one should try to give an ugly Feebas a chance to grow into a pretty, pretty Milotic. As such, I will Unvote, seeing as my intention of voting to get the quiet observers to speak up has paid off. Now, in the interest of refraining from bandwagoning and potentially drawing more unwanted attention towards my person, I will sit back and observe until nightfall."

Yeah, that's fair enough, we've all gotta get our research done and stuff like that too.

Um, Calista, right? Who are you waiting to hear from? I think we've all said something today at least, right? If there's someone you're waiting on, shouldn't you try placing a vote on them? I'll hold off on putting one on you for now, but come on, you've got to have a little confidence in yourself! Show some action! Because if someone's flying under the radar and we're all missing it, it would really help us to know!

While we near phase change, I'm intentionally keeping my vote on NS. I'm not really a fan of the way he's framing my actions and casting strong doubt on a theory that is, at this point, just as feasible as any others that are on the board. Feels like he's gotten a little extra defensive over what is a mostly uninformed vibes vote on my part. If other people end up voting him and he flips innocent, sus me tomorrow etc etc

Of course, that leaves us a comfortable pool of five, doesn't it? This is fully reasonable, but it would be rather brash of me to call out my own strategy in disguising myself as innocent. I wish I could commend myself on a bluff strategy like that

Just saw this post edit. A miller is a member of the innocent town who reads as Mafia whenever an investigative role targets them. That's the core concept, but oftentimes miller will be paired with another role power, so that they aren't just a detriment to the inno team.

There are a few reasons why FWD could want to claim miller early:
-FWD really is the miller, and wants to ensure that investigations at night are aware of this fact
-FWD isn't the miller, but is a powerful innocent role, and is claiming miller in the hopes that Mafia doesn't target him. Keeping a miller around is a great play by the Mafia to sow confusion in innocent player checks, after all
-FWD isn't the miller and is instead a member of the Mafia, and is claiming miller to try and dissuade suspicions whenever an inno investigator does target him
-Other realities probably

I'm sorry, it seems I've overlooked some things... Being at one with nature, my attention is often divided, but it pleases me to know the grass on the seaside is healthy. If I'm correct, we're only still waiting to hear from Flotzo, and, hm... I have a feeling that's the usual state of nature.

As I've already said, someone chose to silence me last night, so I'm unable to vote. Perhaps I could've saved it as a bluff, but it seems more beneficial to be forthcoming.

Thinking.png

Hey, you're right, and I glazed over that too! Sorry I forgot about your voting thing. Vote: Power Flotzo, you've been quiet- and that's not usually what you see from Hariyama in my experience. You got any thoughts that could spark a discussion?

67563

Hm... I'm not sure Solarus is our best target. His theory - farfetched as it may be, in my opinion - strikes more as the misguided speculation of a seedling than one among the corruption trying to mislead us.

I'm afraid I need more time than we have remaining to suggest any proper alternatives, but I cannot sit by and remain silent, especially for the sake of a fellow being of nature. Please, do with this what you will.

Osu! It seems as though the professor wishes to hear my thoughts. I do not have any good leads, mainly because no one has said much, but I am most suspicious of this Lightning McQueen fellow and his doppelganger, mainly because neither of them have given us any leads to work with.

Perhaps in these final minutes I will change my vote, but for now, I shall not place one.
