Mario Kart World

One thing that I thought about is that I **really** think they should distinguish Green and Red Shells rather than just color. Red and green colorblindness isn't exactly rare and many other racers use entirely different items for their typical basic projectile weapon vs the homing variant. They've attempted to address this in earlier titles by flipping icons around and having different layouts for the triple variants of them, but on-track, they are still extremely hard to tell apart for colorblind players.

Red-green colorblind vision.

It would break precedent the series has for sure, but unless they introduce a colorblind friendly mode, this is will be problematic until they introduce some sort of quirk other than color to set them apart.

Simple, Yoshi is my least favorite character
Oh he is? Why is that? I like him but you know not everyone does. I'd like to and be interested in hearing your personal reasons as to why.

why is everybody hating on DK's new design, I don't find it bad It's like a retro version of his old design during the SNES and N64 era.
Actually I think it's even more retro than that-I think it's from the era back in the early 80s when he was in those "Donkey Kong" arcade games. And yeah I don't get it either; I don't think he looks that bad, actually.

I just think he's annoying and has an annoying voice.

Donkey Kong's voice is fine.

In this one? We don't know yet.

Mario Team Racing: Nitro Fueled is the vibe here and it looks INCREDIBLE

Nintendo really said "yeah you can be a playable character" to every random enemy in the Mario series lol

Personally we had too many playable enemies. We need more playable friendlies, like the penguins!

Thank you for reading.

(these are the best shots of Baby Luigi)

So here are my thoughts

  • There's a lot of new playable characters which is nice but a huge chunk of them are random generics (like Moo Moo, Dolphin, Pianta, Sidestepper, Penguin, Parabiddy Bud, Stingby, Swooper, Spike, Cataquack, Peepa, Pokey, Snowman, Charging Chuck, and maybe more. I'd prefer actual characters (like say the Broodals from Mario Odyssey) but whatever, Baby Luigi is there so it doesn't matter who they put in.
  • I like the new character costumes, very nice.
  • Characters are a bit more lively and animated. Just a little bit.
  • Single player looks to be the same repetitive slog through Grand Prix like always.
  • It has elimination races, something other racers have been doing for a very very very long time.
  • Literally been talking free roam and I am so glad they actually implemented that feature in this game.
  • Photo mode is a fantastic feature, and you can change character face expressions and their pose. Characters better have a lot they can choose from. they need dynasty warriors 9 styled dirt and mud on them too
  • The gameplay is still the same sluggish and slow gameplay I've come to expect from the series, and it looks very boring watching it. I don't care if you can get wings and can sometimes drive on rails and on walls, it's the same slow driving that I've come to dislike until I play 200cc.
  • Graphics are nice but they're nothing that wowed me.

The 80 dollar price tag though? Yeah that's the absolutely worst thing about this game. I'm sorry, from what I've seen of the footage, it doesn't seem to be worth that price at all. Don't care if you can play as a random ghost in a tie, there doesn't seem to be enough content to justify this, considering I've played other racers that are much more feature rich that are less expensive than this.
Are there any vehicle customization options....at all.....or is just the same body + tire schtick?

double post but we have a glimpse of the character select screen

Baby Mario and Baby Luigi get new poses!

they are seriously charging $80 for this

fuck off.

like it looks good obviously but fuck off.
I assumed it was like that 'cause of the tariffs, but apparently those are the prices everywhere.

Emulators like me win lol

12 spots on page 1 + 4 pages = max 48 racers.

Nintendo knows they can get away with it, considering the sales of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. They think they added some more extra playable characters and a semi-open world, they can suddenly hike up the price for the game.

I mean if you account for inflation a $50 Wii game in 2006 would cost about $80 today. Sucks but it was probably only a matter of time until it caught up.

The tariffs combined with inflation made a $10 increase in the baseline price from the Switch 1 to 2 expected imo. The only surprise here is Mario Kart being one of the "higher end" releases, but given how ambitious this one is combined with being the first fully original console entry in 11 years (god has it really been that long since I was being insufferable about 8's roster), I don't think this game being on the higher end is an unreasonable or absurd outcome. Plus you can get it for 50 if you buy it bundled with the Switch 2, which I don't see why anyone would choose not to if this is a game they want to get with the system.

It's not the tariffs. The price of the game is like this globally, and I don't quite buy the inflation excuse because much more expensive and feature rich games did recently got released without the increased price.
