Ideas if Bowser had a 3D platformer.

It'd definitely be interesting for Bowser to have his own 3D platforming game. Given how much Bowser is capable of across the Mario franchise, even outside the games, I bet it'd be a lot of fun to play as Bowser in a 3D platforming Mario game. You could use Bowser's immense size and strength to smash through obstructed paths and enemies, you could use Bowser's fire breath to clear out obstacles and enemies, you could grow in size in order to take out threats much larger than yourself, you could withdraw inside your shell and take out obstructed paths that way, there's just so many possibilities with giving Bowser his own 3D platformer, but knowing Nintendo, they would likely never do it because we've seen how stingy Nintendo is with fanmade stuff based on their properties.

And If Nintendo actually used the characters made by Alphadream and SquareEnix.

Yeah! If SquareEnix is going to be involved in a Mario game, we better make use of Dragonlord, Ultimecia, and Master Xehanort!

Like bring back Midbus or Fawful or something idk, it would be neat

Seriously though, if Squeenix is going to be involved in some capacity, I think it's better to make use of their IPs than return Smithy. Would rather just have a Mario x Dragon Quest/Final Fantasy RPG crossover at that point.

I'm not sure why fanmade stuff factors here. I don't see it likely that particular possibility will play out but I can't say Bowser getting his own game is nigh impossible. We do live in a timeline where Peach and Toad have their own games, and the beginning of Yoshi and Wario and Luigi getting their games, well, there has to be a beginning, no? Mario + Rabbids is one of the weirdest things to come out during the 2010s concerning the Mario ip, so consider that too.

fair enough, I just think those fights would be awesome in 3D, like imagine jumping around dodging dark bowser's army of dark minions or doing a quick time event where bowser and midbus are shell spinning into each other.

Midbus is one thing but Dark Bowser would be just lame.

I think Fawful was a great foil to Bowser. He gets on Bowser's nerves and basically is the opposite kind of villain. Bowser uses his innate strength and physical abilities while Fawful is a pipsqueak so he uses machinery and trickery instead. I don't think a game that's a platformer at heart particularly needs to fit into the same timeline as the RPGs, but that doesn't mean they can't use those characters in different ways. What I'm saying is, using Fawful as the villain in a Bowser game would be amazing and it could just be considered a different timeline/canon from that of BIS. It could just take a few cues from that game. Fawful takes control of Bowser's army, giving Bowser motivation to go after him and get his army back. But unlike in BIS, Fawful could take a more active role, showing up in various mechas for boss fights. The boss fights would be more creative in mechanics than the typical 3D Mario boss, with some needing Bowser to punch a certain spot at a certain time, but others needing him to set the environment on fire to gain an advantage. And of course as Bowser regains his army, he can deploy them to have unique interactions with the environment and enemies that can be used in creative ways.

An original villain could work, but it would be very up in the air. Fawful already has a dynamic with Bowser and works as an antagonist for him. Unlike all the other main villains of RPGs which mainly went against Mario instead, Fawful has directly been an antagonist to Bowser specifically. Not that Nintendo would ever do it because they're allergic to those kinds of ideas. But I think it's a good idea. Anyway I vastly prefer the idea of making use of Mario characters on the backburner over doing a crossover with some unrelated series.

Exactly, and we know big robot battles are possible thanks to Megaleg and MegaHammer from Galaxy 1&2 respectively

Funnily enough I feel Tatanga could've spent that role being the weakling behind giant mechs, but I also feel the Shroobs also fit the role where they used technology to augment their physical weakness. It's probably a common alien trope. Is Fawful an alien then? :p Next thing we need now are the Grox and these three can be friends and they can try to destroy the Mushroom Kingdom with the looming threat of Planet Buster or Gravitational Wave. Though... I'd fail to see how this scenario would be best suited in having Bowser being a star and not, like, y'know, supporting cast.

edit: and thinking about that line more...

I feel it's not about stinginess and just them wondering, "what can we do to make a fun game starring Bowser who plays roles in ways Mario cannot?" Maintaining an army does spring to mind, a good tower defense game (we had Bowser's Minions after all) but a 3D platformer?

I play devil's advocate, but isn't Mario already perfectly capable of "fire [...] to clear out obstacles and enemies" and can't he also ""could grow in size in order to take out threats much larger"? Nintendo might be asking themselves, why make Bowser do this when Mario can? And why should Bowser be a star? I know Nintendo comes off as stingy, but we should also be aware that thousands of ideas float around during game development, and they go through a lot of consideration before finally morphing into the final product.

Them taking down fan works is just out of spite and control. It has no bearing on the creative process that's poured into the games.

Which is why even after over 30 years, Bowser does not have his own game for there isn't any real concept that he could do that Nintendo couldn't do with any of their other characters or franchises.

Hell when Luigi had his own game, it's entirely in a different genre (action, exploration, and puzzles?). I have a feeling if Bowser ever gets his own game, it would certainly be in a different genre. Same thing for Toad when he got his own game.

Peach has the emotion system though, probably the one standout gimmick that Super Princess Peach had, and it didn't really feel like a traditional Mario platformer. Of course, that was only one game and they didn't make a sequel since. Wario Land is also dormant probably because Shake It was extremely expensive to make and I don't think it quite recouped its costs (correct me if I'm wrong). But if Yoshi and Donkey Kong's series can continue alongside Mario, then why can't Bowser? Though I think Bowser's clunky size and overall chunkyness makes him a bit more cumbersome to work with in terms of level design, and no, I don't think the TTYD segments can even subsist the whole game as those are clearly done as short jokes, nor did I think SPM was a good platformer that justifies Bowser getting his own platformer. Again, I could be wrong, but if Bowser does get his own platformer, it's very likely going to play very differently than traditional Mario games.

Funnily enough I feel Tatanga could've spent that role being the weakling behind giant mechs

Feels like this is just trying to be Eggman or Dr. Wily though.

An Interesting genre that could work for a Bowser game could be a hack and slash, just run in and use Bowser's brute strength to mow everything down.

Feels like it would use many playable characters though, like one of the biggest perks of a Mario Musou game is having multiple playable characters.

Sounds like Super Mario Odyssey to me. Probably could be better if he can enter his shell and spin through everything. That would be awesome.

Bowser already has his own game (M&L:BiS) but it isn't 3D so… yeah.

A Bowser-based game that is a platformer either 2D or 3D? This is *chef's kiss* perfection to me. I wouldn't mind this and honestly enjoyed the bit in Mario Odyssey where I could play as Bowser. I think it is long overdue too. As for the game plot, I bet it could be battling a rival like Wart or even Wario. I would think even rescuing Bowser Jr. would be a good route too.

Maybe it could bring back tatanga. And merging it all together, tatanga took Bowser Jr. All other villains are bosses so you have to fight villains with the powers of Bowser.
