Spirits that were either too weak or too strong.

For me, Infinite should have been a Legend Class spirit with three slots and the ability to give the fighter complete immunity to melee attacks.

Metal Sonic should get the ability to enhance to Neo Metal Sonic, an Ace Class spirit which makes the fighter's electric attacks stronger.

Dry Bowser needs more slots.

Fury Bowser needs more slots.

Shine Sprite should have been an Ace Class because it technically serves the same purpose as a Power Star.

This is an awful idea and makes his spirit far too strong. It will completely shut down melee fighters (who are most of the cast) with practically no downsides, being vulnerable to only throws, projectiles, stage hazards, and items. At least the MegaMan spirit with super armor has low stats and slow super armor causes your character to be...well slow while all invincibility is only temporary.

Giga Cat Mario should be higher ranked too. He's the character that freaking destroys Fury Bowser. Currently the spirit is... two stars!?

Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon also being only level 3? You know, two of the strongest legendaries in the entire series?

Dry Bowser needs more slots.

Fury Bowser needs more slots.
I wonder why though. Usually when they have less slots, it's compensated by stronger stats.

Dimentio almost erases the very existence of matter.

... Yet his spirit is a meagre 2 stars out of 4 stars. The same as some mooks from Yoshi's Island who steal babies.

Count Cannoli should have been two-star, since he's a recurrent boss and rival in his game of origin despite proving himself as a wimp as the game progresses.

I always found Sagi being a one star spirit with extremely low power rivaling Goomba and Bokoblin kind of insulting for Baten Kaitos Origins, unless there's some sort of story context I'm missing.

Oh yeah no clue why Morag from Xenoblade 2 is only a novice level spirit she's the goddamn Special Inquisitor of Mor Adain , the most powerful driver in the empire with a very powerful blade wtf

* Lord Frederik. Leader of the Snowmads a one star spirit?

* Omega. A robot that turned against their creator and made their own decision by not actually turning good also one spirit? Both of them should have been three star spirits.

* Whispy Woods. I've never known Whispy to be particularly challenging, yet he manages to be three stars, albeit with a fire weakness ability.

In general, spirits that have a weakness or start with damage without the trade off benefit.

Smash Bros. as a concept kind of scoffs at relative strength. I mean, this is the series where Pichu is stronger than Pikachu, where three Pikmin can toss around behemoths like Ridley and Bowser, and Little Mac suddenly loses all punching ability the moment he goes an inch off the floor. If one needs an in-universe explanation for power discrepancies of spirits compared to their source material, I would assume the process of getting one's body destroyed warps the properties of the character.

Even accounting for the above, isn't it weird that Dr. Wily alone is a Legend class spirit but the Wily Capsule piloted by Dr. Wily is an Ace class spirit? You'd think the addition of a combat vehicle would make the character stronger, not weaker.

This is probably so that protagonist character is more accessible than the antagonist character. Legend class spirits are hard to acquire. The Bowser's Fury event where they came from only had three spirits too, and they probably weren't making both Giga Cat Mario and Fury Bowser Legend class since that would make the event too difficult to engage with for newer players. Of the two, it makes sense to make Fury Bowser Legend class so that the player would have to train to stand up to the might of Fury Bowser in the same way they had to evade him while gradually collecting the Cat Shines in the original game.
