Nintendo Direct Thread (Do NOT post here unless one is announced)

My point is that Kirby is fine. Give it a break. All the constant spin offs/sub-games and bi-yearly releases was getting tiresome. Franchise fatigue was setting in something fierce.

1. Battle Royale was a year and a half ago
2. It was unique and unlike any other Kirby game before it (even if it was just okay at best)

I still really don't see your point here.

Don't worry about it. You're free to feel excited and look forward to whichever game series you like.

Excitement and fondness (within reason) demands no explanation.

Ah, I see what you're getting at. Yeah, it can get tiring when new games keep coming out and you wind up with a long play queue with sameish games and it starts to burn you out. But, I personally hold the stance that a series only necessitates a break if its recent games are all ultra-similar or if they're all consistently mediocre. To me, with Kirby jumping into completely new game styles every couple years, each one offering new ideas rarely seen anywhere else, Kirby's more of a burnout-breaker; when I want to try a new game style, I turn to Kirby and his numerous unique spinoffs. Kirby's diversity is the best part about the franchise, and even if the mainline games feel a bit samey, those spinoffs make sure that you always have new game styles to try in between.

But on the bright side of things, Kirby's absence from the Direct gives me more time to play more of his past adventures. So I guess it's not too much of a loss.

It would be a good time to get a new Kirby Air Ride *taps impatiently on the desk*

all kirby air ride needs is city trial and that'll be all

the race tracks can be part of the single race event in city trial then

i liked top ride more than air ride. i don't think top-down racers that play in its manner are very common in games, so it's a pretty unique mode.

air ride's main issue are its ridiculously imbalanced vehicles and being a bit...bland at points. in most courses, there's no reason not to simply use the swerve star and there's almost no reason to use the terrible bulk star or rocket star

the bulk star does shine in offensive modes like destruction derby and vs king dedede though, and it has a very wacky glide mechanism for some reason.

I'd rank Kirby Air Ride modes as City Trial, Top Ride, Air Ride. Air Ride gets knocked for being absolutely basic and horrendous vehicle balancing that can't be solved with patches or having to find and compete to use that vehicle in the first place. It has a lot more options than single race, sure, but that's the only thing really going for it IMO. I like Top Ride just for being a fun, straightforward and unique side mode.

My main issue with Top Ride was that I never could get used to the controls. Whenever I chose the Free Star, my thumb wanted Steer Star, and whenever I chose Steer Star, my thumb wanted Free Star. It got annoying fast and as such I wound up playing Top Ride much less than the other two modes.

Adjusting between two stars do seem to take time getting used to. I remember sticking to Free Star for the longest time imaginable, but then I got used to Steer Star and I can't get back to Free Star. Dunno what the advantages are, just seems like pure preference, not unlike the alternate colors.

You should probably challenge yourself to stick to one control scheme for all courses and challenges and maybe you'll get used to it eventually. or do a 99 lap session

i typically prefer going steer star because most racing games are like this

I normally go with Steer Star too because my thumbs seem to like that better, but that doesn't stop them from randomly going Free Star whacko on occasion. Maybe I should try that 99-lap race and see how it goes.

Nintendo PLEASE give us information on Shovel Knight King of Cards and Battle Mode!

I'd also like a new reveal or information on the Cuphead DLC.
