Am I the only one who thinks the Mario Galaxy movie wasn't that good?

I'm not really sure, but I've found it more boring than the first one, and I also feel like everything happens too fast.

The record box office and good audience reception are good indicators you aren't. Anyone you hear online loudly complaining about the movie are people who are loudly complaining about the movie (and also bought tickets for it knowing what they're getting themselves into).

I personally think the movie is not worth a watch, so I never bothered watching it.

I personally dislike the film. I think it was a step backward from the previous one (even though that one also wasn't great), and it felt like Nintendo diving headfirst into a pool of fan-service.

Same here. I remember getting out of the theater and believing it was the best official Mario movie. But now that the recency bias has worn off, Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach is still the best imo.

But yeah, you're definitely not alone. I've seen more haters than enjoyers for this movie.

I've thought that the perception that this film is subpar is the more popular opinion. It's a film I didn't find myself hot on, not only because there were parts I would prefer to see expanded on (Yoshi's tour in Brooklyn comes to mind), but the key characters are characters are either character I am OK with or indifferent to (though I think Fox is a brilliant inclusion), but the post-credits scene made it felt more worth it to me (if you have seen it, you might probably understand why).

We had a discussion thread for it and we sure pointed out there are various issues even in the eyes of fans.

the first movie was still better

I think first movie did very well with mixing different games in order to do quick world building for the prologue of the franchise.

Galaxy, on the other hand, while it also mixed other games arguably not a good selection or arrangement. We got Fossil Falls for Odyssey, Wart's casino (even tho I love him, it still was a relunctant one for canon reason) and Star Fox insertion, all of them are not real canon Mario outerspace contents that do well world building, but more like what Nintendo personally want to push in any movie.
