Awards Killing Game 2x2: Moon of Hope (Game Thread) - Night 2 - A Second Night To Remember

lulu_05.png

Now that we aren't panicking about solving a murder, this seems like a good opportunity to inform you all about a certain artifact, and the reason I came to this mansion in the first place...

I know that, hidden within this mansion, there is an object with even greater power than the Moon of Hope, or the Dark Moon as it's come to be known. It's called the Sun Stone, with the power that eclipses the Dark Moon, it should be able to deal with His Majesty more permanently, if we can find it.

I spent all of last night looking for clues on its whereabouts, but unfortunately our missing Gadd Zooks has not researched it as closely as the Dark Moon, so all I know is to "look for signs of the sun". If I could get all your assistance, so that we might leave with minimal casualties, and to make sure those who do die don't die for no reason.

LyraMadeSorta_tyikhq.png

Yeah, well... That tracks. Only a real freak would spend half the night making out with a car. Or killing someone, but by my calculations there's significantly more reasons to do the latter than the former.

In any case, you can take a look at the ladle I have. I found it in the Fishing Hut, but it doesn't seem to do anything observable. Maybe we can engage in a collaborative experiment, if anyone has any idea what it does.

Thanos, Thanos, Thanos...He talked tough about the weight of taking a life or whatever, but the big guy couldn't even last one night. What was it he said before? It pisses him off when people toy with the boundary between life and death? Maybe he had a grudge against the girl from the get-go.

WINTER:
... sigh.

What happened with the Mona fills me with great sadness. But it is imperative we do not blame Jaw for this incident. The creature remains as pure and innocent as the horrific display of carnal affection it bestowed upon that vehicle in the Garage.

In truth, while I would rather avoid this kind of senseless loss altogether, it brings me a small amount of comfort that it was another scavenger that took her life. That means the death--though instigated by Gadd's savagery masquerading as a scientific experiment and thus condemnable--at least had a natural component to it. Scavenger kills scavenger.

Forthwith we must redouble our efforts to act as guardians and prevent these little critters from hurting each other. I suggest every researcher in this building pick one of the remaining scavengers and supervise them, to ensure their continued safety.

Despite my objections, the prince invited some of the undead to fight the "king" also. Subject Jackson B. Humorus arrived, followed shortly afterward by subjects Boo #1,268 and Specture Striker. Some time passed before Prince Winter himself arrived, geared for the battle. I was given an egg timer meant to prevent ghostly possession. This requires further research. Unfortunately, we were unable to depose the "king" and I was knocked out cold, no doubt the consequence of allowing the undead to participate with us. Observed the following behaviors of subject King Blocky Boo:
  • Subject displays the ability to shift between varying degrees of tangibility at will.
  • Mixed effectiveness of physical weapons. Observations on individual items may be in error given the previous point. I have noted them for comprehension regardless.
    • Hammer and chain show no effect.
    • Papers temporarily stick to his form, suggesting subject's reaction time is key and a non-conventional approach is likely to be more effective in containment.
    • Rusty polearm appears to be effective. Note that subject was blinded by papers at the time. Rust may play a factor. Proceed with caution, as weapon was wielded by subject Jackson B. Humorus and may involve undead trickery.
  • Subject reacts prior to being hit, regardless of actual effectiveness.
  • Seemingly immune to the ectoplasm-soaking properties of sponges.

WINTER:
In any case, let me supplement these notes from my esteemed colleague with my own extrapolations. I haven't been able to fully investigate the apparition's capabilities yet as I've been preoccupied with the dealings of the day. But here are my surface thoughts.

  • The apparition's varying states of tangibility seem to correspond to different "modes".
    • Ethereal: physical weapons ineffective, spiritually charged weapons effective.
    • Corporeal: physical weapons effective, spiritually charged weapons ineffective.
  • The apparition can change between these modes at will, but the process is not instantaneous. He must do it consciously and it takes a brief moment. It should therefore be possible to damage him by alternating between physical and spiritual attacks in quick succession, using patterns he cannot predict.
    • The paper I used against him is not mundane, it's specially treated and inlaid with spiritual energy. That's why it stuck to him even in ethereal form. He had to turn corporeal to remove it from himself, which in turn made him vulnerable to a physical attack from Silverfish. I don't think the conventionality of the attack matters. It's about stacking different types of damage before he can shift modes.
  • The apparition is affected by ghost-warding talismans. The crude ones I was able to make on my own seemed only to annoy him. But someone with expert knowledge in crafting there charms properly might be able to hinder the apparition's movement more effectively.
  • Somewhat vulnerable to bright flashes of light.
  • No apparent ability to possess people, or didn't bother to use it.
  • Disposition and temperament of the apparition appears markedly juvenile. He is prone to taunting and reacts to provocation with overwhelming rage. He lost composure and threw what amounted to a super-powered tantrum during the fight. This is what wrecked the room.
  • The apparition seems to be able to control its crown through telekinesis. It appears reliant on hand gestures. This prevents the crown from being separated from the body.
  • The apparition mainly fights physically, seeking to dominate with brute strength (reminiscent of a Mudwing). Its abilities seem mundane most of the time, but its strength output occasionally spikes drastically.
    • These spikes in power seem always accompanied by a signature purple glow. By observing this glow, it becomes predictable when a big attack is coming, and pre-made countermeasures could theoretically be levied.
  • Halitosis. Moons alive, swallow some mint!

I'm hoping to uncover more once I have a moment to sit down and launch a deeper analysis.

verdict.png

So you have reached your verdict. I will not insult your intelligence - I did as you claimed.

Yesterday, I said that taking a life is the most serious action one can take. I believed it then. I believe it now. A life, once ended, should remain ended. Death is not a door to be opened and closed at one's convenience. That is why I acted.

You call her a victim. You call me a murderer. Yet from the moment I set foot in this complex, I watched her cast aside her own death as though it were a mere hiccup in her day. I am told this happens frequently, coming to and fro like the tides. That is cruelty. Not intentional, not from her, but it is cruelty nonetheless.

goodbye2.png

I am not of this world. Where I come from, the dead do not return simply because they want to. They do not return to finish their stories. They do not return when someone loves them enough to beg for another chance.

goodbye3.png

They remain dead. My daughter remains dead. And countless others with her. People who would have given anything to watch the sun rise again.

point.png

Yet that oaf. I see no balance in her careless nature. No fairness. I only see a corpse refusing its rest. A stain on the scales of the universe, one that grew every time she denied her own fate. Can you truly believe that I killed her? She was already dead. And there will be no resurrections this time.

In a small way, I am ashamed. I came here believing I could protect the living from the whims of the undead. Instead, I only served to propagate their vile game. But when the opportunity presented itself, when I was given one final chance to correct something that so profoundly called for correction, I could not look away. I could not ignore destiny in service of my conscience. Not for her. Not for anyone.

dave_nosmile.png

Inevitably, I choose to die with my head held high. I stand by my decision. And I accept the consequences.

Having come to a high-octane end to the first case, ultimately, the test subjects determined that it was Thanos responsible for killing Mona. With his confession in full, Mona's spirit remains awkwardly silent. Despite her safety manual helping her survive so much, she was still the same clumsy person deep down, and she knew it. Perhaps Thanos had a point, that she shouldn't have taken such advantage of the balance between life and death while claiming to champion the values of safety, even unintentionally, and yet...

...She couldn't look him in the eye as the hammer finally fell. He was responsible for her current state. He'd set back the chances of getting everyone out of this situation sooner, and for that, his actions couldn't be forgiven.

King Blocky Boo was delighted.

kb_tongue.png

"Gehehehehehe! Looks like it's time for the FUN part. Shame you didn't get away with it - that was a fun little kill. Mammoth skull to the head, I'll have to remember this one!"

kb_angry.png

"But, you didn't get away with it, so it's finally time to add the first new piece to my collection! Tanner, get his spirit, will you?"

With a wry smile, Tanner approaches Thanos, who remains standing proud in spite of his imminent demise. With a single swing of Tanner's pickscythe, the onlookers watch as Thanos' spirit is launched from his body. King Blocky Boo pulls out an empty, glowing portrait frame, and lunges. Slamming the painting down on him, Thanos finds himself falling inside the painting, tumbling through the air and landing directly in...

His car. Realizing he's at last been reunited with his beloved automobile, Thanos guns the engine and starts to drive, taking in the beautiful seaside scenery. His drive along the coast feels normal, until the night starts to fall far faster than it should. As it goes pitch black, except for the light of the moon, Thanos hears a loud chomping sound behind him.

He turns, and realizes that a legion of ghostly crocodiles is running up the road. They're impossibly fast, and despite trying to outspeed them, they quickly start to catch up, and rip pieces of the car free. As soon as a chunk is torn away, the crocodiles start to toss it among themselves and chomp on it until it's nothing but metal dust. And yet, as he loses the bumpers, the taillights, the doors, the seats, there are always more crocodiles.

As he swings back at the crocodiles, Thanos realizes something - they do not harm him. They have no desire to harm him, even chomping carefully to go around him. They only seek Thanos's Car, and continue to rip it to shreds, Thanos trying desperately to fight them off. However, it's too late - one of the crocodiles bites out some vital wiring, and his car finally begins to go haywire.

With the crocodiles no longer chasing him, Thanos tries and fails to keep control. The car spins and drifts wildly, skidding across the road with no way for him to keep it on. He realizes he's about to go over the cliff, and for an instant, he tries to let go... only to realize he can't do it. He can't abandon the car. Not again. Never again. Holding on tight, Thanos and his Car go over the cliff together, and smash violently on the spiked rocks below.

In reality, everyone else watches as Thanos simply collapses on the spot, his spirit sealed into the portrait upon King Blocky Boo's strike, and his body rendered lifeless.

Thanos (Car) was executed! His role was CODE: ELLERKONGE, the Ultimate Wild Hunt!

Code: ELLERKONGE
🩻 Ultimate Wild Hunt
At one point or another in a past life, or an alternate universe, you commanded a vast army. Now, you walk alone, a lone, eternal king chasing shadows of the past, while your army is now an endless horde of ghosts. It possesses ghostly factions of all kinds of warriors. Ghost Rats, Ghost Bats, Ghost Wolves, Ghost Mongolian Infantry, Ghost Pharmacists… you've conscripted them all to work for you. One signal, and you can summon a faction of them to your aid on the battlefield. Here, they might just become more than a folk legend.

Despite being in hiding, you received an unusual distress call from the owner of the Complex before the signal mysteriously went quiet. Having set out to reach the Valley, you've finally arrived with your spirit army in tow, though their access to the grounds remains highly restricted by the great King Perch's power. Nonetheless... the hunt begins.

Abilities - Ultimate Wild Hunt
  • Once per night, you can signal a faction made up of any single natural creature to flood a nearby location, and command them to perform a "wild hunt": a simple goal for them to achieve by the end of the night or sooner.
    • As examples, your army can "hunt" for treasure, knowledge, lore, a weapon, or even a specific arrangement of furniture, so long as they have a realistic goal to meet.
    • These creatures have human intelligence, and it's possible to parlay with them and receive guidance. As in, you could call a "wild hunt" of medical researchers to work in a laboratory to develop a medicinal cure. Or, you could ask a group of hardened warriors to lift you up, and their "hunt" would be helping you scale a wall.
    • Ultimately, this ability allows you to hasten any arduous tasks through the power of ghostly group collaboration.
  • All "hunts" must be initiated by you making a commanding horn signal near the room being targeted. You cannot stifle or disguise this noise, it must be loud and slightly lengthy in order to be commanding. You are waking the dead to do your bidding, after all.
    • You start with a simple ox horn to do this, but other loud instruments can be found on the map.
  • Once the wild hunt's "hunt" is complete, they vanish and drop all items where they were. The area will be examined as if "many people" had been through it.
  • This ability has the following limitations:
    • You can only call one "wild hunt" per night.
    • The time your army spends completing the hunt is dependent on the complexity of the goal you give them (by our discretion) and when the order is made. If the hunt somehow reaches sunrise without completing their goal, they retreat, and vanish anyway.
    • You cannot command portions of the group to do specific things, it must be one, all encompassing command.
    • Your group cannot contain powers of specific individuals, it must be a collective group with the same ability.
    • The ghost army's area can only affect one room and adjacent rooms if necessary to move items.
    • You must be near the room you wish to affect when giving the command.
    • The creatures summoned cannot be "mythical", they must possess abilities no greater than a group of humans or natural animals.
  • Ghostly interactions:
    • Your army is only visible to entities in the Paranormal Dimension, and under darklight.
    • With the exception of yourself, your army similarly cannot restrict or be restricted by any entity that is not a ghost, or in the Paranormal Dimension. The hunt must go on. Things might get crowded for a wraith trying to enter the area, but it won't stop them from entering the location entirely.
    • Your army can grab, wield, and rearrange objects in the room you command them to "hunt" in, but they cannot completely remove evidence when they disappear, as they will leave behind anything physical they were affecting when they vanish. When not under dark-light, it will visually look like the room's objects are moving on their own.
  • Weaknesses: You have no extra weaknesses, but keep in mind if you lose your starting horn or have it stolen, you'll have to find another signal of similar volume to call a Wild Hunt.
  • Forbidden Action: You cannot use your army to kill a player directly. As its current leader, you take responsibility and authority over all executions. If you order a "wild hunt" to kill a player, the ghosts will turn on you instead, and you'll be forced to join them as another nameless soldier...

For Case 1 - Mona Warnewicke's Terminal Departure, you were...

Correct!

CASE 1 - END

kb_smug.png

"Yep. Haunted paintings. I find portraits are the best way to really capture the essence of someone and their murderous achievements. My secret, artistic side. Brains and brawn, I've got it all."

kb_tongue.png

"Gadd kept me trapped in a painting himself using his Ghost Portrificationizer, located right in that Dark Lab, along with a bunch of other cool ghosts who don't deserve such a fate, so excuse me if I happen to enjoy taking out a bit of karmic revenge on his latest test subjects. Bahahaha!"

"Now that I'm in control, I figure it might be worth letting a few more of them join the party. Normally, I'd let you vote for which painting you want me to revive for a bit and make your limited lives slightly more hell, but, I'm in a selfish mood after last night's little scuffle, so it's time for you to meet a proper Wraith!"

King Blocky Boo throws a tarp off a painting, revealing a blurry, multicolored, swirling portrait. It has its own caption.

wraith_portrait.png

"Let's stretch our legs! That's it, feel the burn! Now, let's try it together."

LM_ending_3.png

Throwing the Ghost Portrificationiser in reverse, he feeds the painting into the machine, and a glowing figure begins to emerge...

@Smashley has joined the game temporarily as a Wraith! For Case 2, she will be able to post, submit night actions, and participate in the next investigation.

We are now in a brief intermission. Please stand by for the beginning of the next night phase. You may still post in-character, discuss lore, or other developments until Night 2 officially begins later this week.

I wish you had chosen a different path, Thanos. Good night...

lulu_01.png

Unfortunately, we have to continue. I have quite a bit of documents to present to you all, so let's just go in order. I will show the
Note - Ghost Portrificationizer: a small note about improving Gaddgets using the same device that has turned Thanos into a painting
Note - Gaddget Transferral/Power Portrification: A small note about trading Gaddgets
Documents - Study: "The Dark Moon": A study on the Dark Moon, and a hint towards restoring it (Though I personally don't think it will be enough, we need the Sun Stone).

Note - Study: "The Sun Stone": A short note, simply stating the truth.
Blueprints - Prototype Gaddgets: A short list of unused Gaddgets
Book - Solaire of the Sun
Book - Legends of the Moon of Hope
: Two stories that might give us some clues.

You present a handful of documents, sticky notes, transcribed audio files, and books as you found them.

Dark Lab Note - Ghost Portrificationizer
Study Documents: "The Dark Moon"
Metal Lab Note - Gaddget Transferral/Power Portrification
Study Note - "The Sun Stone"

Library Book - Legends of the Moon of Hope

Note: Ghost Portraitificationizer said:
The hastily scribbled note seems to imply the Portraitificationizer has another use for improving Gaddgets, which is still in testing.

"NOTE: Input Name and Codename. Input activation code found in [DARK] file. Begin spiritual synchronization. Revert changes with the same process."

Documents - Study: "The Dark Moon" said:
The Dark Moon, Pt. 1
The Dark Moon hangs in the skies above Evershade Valley, its faint purple glow and paranormal influence providing ample energy for ghostly research, and protection from malicious spirits. Under the Dark Moon's light, all ghosts are pacified and friendly, and a departed person's spirit is easily returned to their body in case of freak accidents, with all wounds healed. Only the most qualified researchers are allowed to work on the complex grounds, so such incidents are infrequent, outside of the lead scientist, Gadd.

The Dark Moon, Pt 2.
If the Dark Moon were to somehow shatter, its protective light would be lost, exposing the valley to paranormal threats. Old folktales used to describe its pieces being bestowed to five heroes who could reunite the Dark Moon and return it to the sky. If a ghost were to claim but one piece of the Dark Moon…

Gadd has developed a device capable of searching for dark moon piece shrines and their guardians in case of emergency.

The Paranormal Dimension, Pt. 1
All ghosts reside on another plane of existence, normally only accessible to mortals through reaching the afterlife. This renders them completely invisible to us unless they choose to make themselves seen. In Evershade Valley, the light of the Dark Moon can show all ghosts moving about.

The Paranormal Dimension, Pt. 2
Certain walls of the GHOST complex have been insulated with warding technology that can keep weaker but more erratic ghosts contained within its bounds for easier monitoring. This prevents lesser ghosts, such as Wraiths, from causing too much mischief in the complex.

Darklight technology
Darklight technology was created by monitoring wavelengths the Dark Moon creates, allowing portable torches of light to be carried around and examine the unseen at all times. Normally you aren't provided with lights except in emergencies, but some rooms deemed important to Valley research have had backup lights installed in them to render ghosts visible. Spare dark Light bulbs can be found in certain places of the Complex. Certain ink and paint can only be rendered visible with Darklight.

Note - Gaddget Transferral/Power Portrification said:
The hastily scribbled note seems to imply there's a device capable of swapping two people's Gaddgets, or temporarily convert a Ghost Power to a Gaddget, which then allows for trading.

"NOTE: Input Name and Codename of both participants. Input activation code found in [METAL] file. Confirm TRADE. Revert changes with the same process."

Drafting Office Blueprints: Prototypes said:
Complex diagrams showing the conversion of spiritual concepts to physical devices, it appears there are seven devices Gadd elected not to distribute to test subjects this year. A sticky note says that information on their whereabouts can be found "Under the Ice". You can't really decipher their functions or build them yourself without sufficient technological knowledge, but note the following names.

- Code: ARMISTICE
- Code: AURUMDESIRE
- Code: BELOWZERO
- Code: MYCELIUM
- Code: PRINCEOFBLUE
- Code: SURTRSTROMMING
- Code: YOUREBALD

Study Note: The Sun Stone said:
A simple note. Its author is unknown.

"It's real. Don't let them trick you."

Book - Solaire of the Sun said:
You read the book, and summarise it.

[A picture depicting a glowing figure surrounded by 21 angels]

Solaire, otherwise known as the Solar King, is a legendary wrestler said to have traversed across the skies in a chariot of pure golden light. Local spirits testify he once had a flat tire in the sands of the Valley, staying present for decades until his untimely demise. From his head radiates pure golden energy, granting warmth to all who believe in his powers.

In a clash against the Great Lantern Ghost, Solaire was defeated and imprisoned for good, and his body was never found. Allegedly, his powers were transferred into a single, brilliant gem of amber, known as the Sun Stone, which has never been recovered, and many doubt its existence, save for the believers of his legend.

Objects associated with his existence include sundials, which predate modern clocks for timekeeping, and lanterns, reflecting his final moments and eternal punishment. Scholars debate whether tales of his existence were pure folklore for describing the movements of the actual sun, or reinterpreted physical events that became myth after a long period of time.

Book - Legends of the Moon of Hope said:
You also summarise the folktale for the Moon of Hope.

[A stylised picture of the five who challenged the great demonic Spirit King Boo]

In ancient times, ghosts and mortals occupied Evershade Valley in harmony, until a terrible demon manifested, plaguing its former inhabitants.

One night, in a small mining village within the Valley, a bright red comet blazed across the night sky, and shortly thereafter, a spherical demon manifested to reek havoc on the village. His powers grew by claiming the crown of the village leader. He adorned it with a cursed jewel, sourced from the mines of the village itself, as punishment for their greed. Both ghost and man alike feared the crowned circle of fright, who tormented them with wicked games and death rituals, designed to grow his army of ghostly followers, and banish those he deemed as threats to his rule.

Eventually, this demonic spirit became known as King Boo.

Commanding authority over the Valley's ghosts, King Boo banished all mortals from the five lands, turning it into his personal domain of horror. He then summoned additional demonic spirits to guard the valley, and planned to expand his sphere of influence, the Paranormal Dimension, to engulf the entire world.

However, in defiance of King Boo, five adventurers took a stand. They had survived his death games, and banded together to rebel against the self-proclaimed king's power. Armed with elemental weapons forged from the mine's crystals, they challenged the demonic spirit for his crown, but in the ensuing battle, their lives were lost. All hope was dashed, until their heroic spirits latched onto the crystals as their guardians, combining to form the Moon of Hope, which nullified the demon's powers and bathed the valley in pure darklight.

Absorbing its final shard from King Boo's crown, the spherical demonic spirit lost his powers, ceased to float, crashed into the rocks of the Valley cliffs, and was finally sealed away in the false Moon for good. The Moon of Hope remained in the sky to serve as the Valley's guardian, and the spirits remained at peace. Mortals would mourn the sacrifice of the five heroes, but they refused to return to the Valley lands out of fear the demonic spirit would return once again.

A fairy tale through and through. You wonder how much of this is real, and how much is legend.

"Heh. This part always brings me back to the old days. Feels almost a little... peaceful. You dig, Tanner?"

tanner_excited.png

"I dig, boss. It's the time between life and death. That moment that feels like it stretches out forever before it actually happens. A certain... eternal safety in that moment."

"Makes me reflect. Back when Gadd wasn't quite such a problem.

tanner_tired.png

Sometimes I think there was something else, way back when..."

kb_tongue.png

"But that ain't coming back, now is it? So we gotta move forward. Get us a real ghostly paradise! The Paranormal Dimension is fully manifested now, and we have a Wraith of chaos running around to really spice things up a little. How's Mona doing, by the way?"

"I think she's still crying and sobbing, mostly. Vigil's tending to her."

[MONA WILL POST.]

kb_think.png

"....hm. Not sure what that was.

Ehhh, give her time. She'll get it soon enough. Now, as for the rest of you, we gotta work on causing some real chaos! So I'll give you a kick in the ass."

kb_smug.png

"Now. I know you found those labs, right? Nice and shiny. Lots of fun little toys to play with, but you don't wanna go in blind. I get it! Really, I do. So lemme help you out. If more than seven of you attempt tonight, I'll give all of you two passwords for pages of the Paranormal Subject Test Registry! You can pick which ones. You'll have a lot of fun once you get those, geheheh!"

tanner_surprised_talk.png

"Hmmm. On the other hand, I'm not sure that's really personally enticing, is it?"

kb_tongue.png

"That's where the second part comes in, Tanner! Kill and get away with it, and I'll personally upgrade your role! Gaddget, Ghost Power, I can do 'em both, with my own Gadd-unapproved modifications. This one will be an extra special bonus. You ain't getting this from anyone except me!

So what're you waiting for? Get those knives out, we've got some fun tonight!"

It is now Night 2. Due to delays with getting this phase functional, you have an extended 62 hours to submit Night 2's actions. Some map descriptions will be updated with new information in pink, please refer to the OP of the game thread or the Updated Rooms below.

Submissions are due .

Tonight's Wraith is... a spicy, cinnamon jelly-bean flavored @Smashley, presenting as Wii Fit Trainer. Her powers are detailed below. Mona will also gain this power for the night.

As a Fire Wraith, you possess a fragment of the elemental demonic spirit S███'s power, granting you minor resonance with the element of Fire.

Abilities - Fire Wraith I
  • You can produce small balls of fire on command, these can be thrown, and explode on blunt contact, releasing a burst of elemental fire.
  • Once per night, you can imbue yourself with a momentary burst of firey speed and strength, briefly enhancing your physical capabilities.
  • You can only move in the Paranormal Dimension. You can have objects move with you in the Paranormal Dimension so long as you maintain contact with them. Please toggle the floor maps in the OP of this thread for more information.
  • You can turn invisible to mortals on command, but this invisibility is limited to a few minutes at a time. You will always be visible to other entities in the Paranormal Dimension, and under Darklight.
  • You cannot kill. You may accomplice with a living player. Only one accomplice may exist per case.
  • You are weak to all standard ghost weaknesses in this universe, and the element of Water.

The Paranormal Dimension is now accessible. This map is exclusive to Wraiths. Toggle the maps in the OP for more info.

  • Foyer: The large central foyer that one enters the Complex through. Besides a grand entrance and chandelier, there's even an aquarium with tropical fish. A huge mess from the great fight on Night 1 remains in the lobby. The chandelier has been smashed.
  • Bathroom: A rather upscale bathroom, with all the essentials - toilet, sink, bathtub, and least of all, soap.
  • Ice Lake: The main feature of the Snowy Grounds. A frozen-over lake sits here, a single hole cut in the ice. A small fishing hut sits next to it. An abandoned, frozen-over water pump serves as a spawning ground for Ice Elemental spirits. The hole in the lake has been made bigger. A sealed hatch at the bottom of the lake has been uncovered.
  • ⬇️ Clock Tower Heights: A huge clock tower that extends through all three floors and the roof of the Complex. Inside the tower is a staircase extending both up and down, and a huge pendulum swinging behind frosted glass. The clock can be seen while standing outside at the front of the Complex. A large paint splatter exists near the northeast door on 2F.
  • Parlor: A nice sitting room for lounging around. A phonograph with several records has been moved elsewhere. There's a couple chairs, a grandfather clock, and a lit fireplace as well. The fire is ghostly and eternal, and Fire Elementals make their home here.
  • Library: A library well stocked with many, many books, along with a huge globe of the world and a grand piano, which has been smashed.
  • Kitchen: A small kitchen with a sink, a stove/oven, and a fridge. There's not much food in the kitchen itself, or much of anything, as it's been exploded entirely. Some items stored in drawers are still usable. An odd mess has breached containment from the fridge.
  • Smuggler's Hideout: A small room with plenty of treasure, currently frozen inside blocks of ice. 2/3 of the fanciest treasure chests have been opened.
  • Crypt: An underground crypt. Some sealed coffins lie in state within the room. All of the coffins have been opened. One of the skulls has a strange camera. It is currently unpowered.
  • Tomb: An ancient tomb of unknown make. A single massive sarcophagus sits in the middle of the room, with mysterious markings all over the walls. The door of the sarcophagus has been gnawed at.

Available NPCs:
  • Vigil - The Valley groundskeeper who watches over the Complex's residents, living and non. An expert mortician and gardener all the same, his primary residence is the Graveyard. Where there's smoke, there's fire, and his lantern can often be spotted from the Complex's misshapen windows, wandering the distant valley grounds at night. Has powers related to accurate autopsies and accurate testimony.
  • Mona Warnewicke - Gadd's trusted Elemental Expert, and a renowned clutz, who elected to take on the Chief Safety Officer role after it was left abandoned for many years. Her handbook is full of seemingly endless safety regulations. Will happily provide guidance on safe work and elemental reactions to anyone who asks, which is usually no one. Has powers related to elemental magic, and methods of death.
  • Tanner Tosca - The general assistant for Gadd, a spectral figure who was in the Complex even before Gadd was. Exhausted but unwilling to disrupt his jobs, Tanner can always be found where Gadd needs some help, except for when he's decided to lurk in the basement to escape yet another asinine request. Has powers related to accomplicing and partnership.
  • King Blocky Boo I - The big bad, free again at last. An amnesiac cubical demonic spirit, he is the archrival of Professor Gadd Zooks, having finally broken free of his prison. Has powers related to murder and performing successful kills.

Bond Powers
  • All - Bronze Frame - Strangers to Acquaintances - No NPC will agree to be an accomplice at this portrait level.
  • Vigil- Bronze Frame - Mortician I - Upon request, Vigil will conduct a more thorough examination of the body than a player, and offer additional insight.
  • Mona - Bronze Frame - Trace Elements I - Upon request, Mona will indicate whether or not a fire, flood, or frozen object was created/affected by Elemental Magic, as well as a likely (but not guaranteed) source.
  • Mona - Silver Frame - Crash Test Dummy III - As someone who's died and lived and died again, many times, Mona can be asked to possess a body, or a suitable stand-in for a body, and perform KG physics experiments from a first person perspective. She'll then give an assessment on whether it would match the victim's experience and current state, and suggest certain experimental adjustments that a host could not. This power can be used repeatedly, but its effectiveness lessens with each use.
  • Tanner Tosca - Bronze Frame - Camaraderie I - Upon request, Tanner will give an upfront indication as to whether he feels there's an accomplice affecting the case. There can only be one accomplice per case. Accomplices will be debuffed if their associated killer is caught.
  • King Blocky Boo I - Bronze Frame - Two by Two by Two EX - Starts Awards Killing Game 2x2. Oh no... there is no disabling this power either.

You present a wooden ladle; a flat, cylindrical cup attached to a wooden stick. It's well-crafted, and ornately carved.
