I was in the restroom, washing myself up, and getting ready to go to a fight against Zhuge Liang when out of nowhere some dog (it looked like a dog) jumped on me, deposited a note on my recently polished helmet and asked me, tail wagging, excitedly, "On the ninth round of the 'Shroomfest, thou shall prefer the following, Ducks or Rabbits? -Signed Ninja Squid" I was like, are you kidding? I just did a 'Shroomfest a year ago, where I was on Team Fantasy, because I mean do I even look like I'm Team Sci-Fi?

I tried to go. I really did. But that dog kept following me. And following me. Why does it want an answer from me? I'm just a lowly general on army rations. As far as I'm concerned, both rabbits and ducks are delicious delicacies.

I couldn't see because of that sticky note and I ended up hitting myself on a wall. Then all of a sudden, a bunch of ducks appeared on my arms.
What am I supposed to do with all these DUCKS?

The dog is still there! Help!!!

"Alright, Day 2 of speaking on behalf of Team Rabbits has dawned on us. So, the other day I had talked about rabbit representation within Mario and other Nintendo franchises, so now it's time for me to talk about rabbit representation outside of Nintendo. I think it's needless to say that our red-capped plumber's greatest rival, Sonic the Hedgehog, has plenty of rabbit representation in his games and comic series alike, whether it be Cream the Rabbit and her mother, Vanilla in both the games and comics, Johnny Lightfoot in the Fleetway Comics, with Johnny in turn being based on a species of non-sentient animals from the classic era of Sonic games called Pocky, Bunnie Rabbot in the Sonic SatAM cartoon series and its pre-reboot comic continuation by Archie Comics, which features additional rabbit characters, such as Bunnie's uncle, Beauregard Rabbot, Mach the Rabbit, who appears as a member of Mina Mongoose's band and previously appeared in an unused sound test for the first Sonic game, Carottia the Rabbit, who first appeared in a bunch of classic Sonic games before making her transition towards the post-reboot era of the Archie Comics, and also Relic the Pika, another post-reboot Archie character who's suggested to be a species of rabbits. So yeah, plenty of rabbit representation in the Sonic franchise there. There's more non-Nintendo rabbit representation that comes to mind for me, but this speech on behalf of Team Rabbits is starting to get a bit too drawn out, so I'll continue to cover more non-Nintendo rabbit representation at a later time."

I think that still goes to show how much ducks have been, like, shafted dude! Like literally In regards to sonic we only have 1 duck character and thats that Bean dude, whos apart of team hooligans man, so why are we like still having dudes vote for Team Rabbit when like there's SO MUCH MORE options for duck characters dude! Cause in my opinion dude rabbits are used TOO MUCH in media nowadays, from that one animal anime dude, to even recent movies dude! Like Zootopia 2 and again the Mario Galaxy movie dude! Like give Ducks a chance man!

Ah, greetings to you all. It's a pleasure to be back here for another 'Shroomfest, and supporting that which I take the likeness of. As a reasonable digital approximation of a rabbit myself, it is no wonder that Waluigi Time has asked me to share "fun rabbit facts" - and also authorized me to offer company coupons to anyone willing to support the team. I will not be giving out any coupons today as I advised him that being the face of the next Soupgate was poor publicity.

Did you know that rabbits and hares can be found living on all continents with the exception of Antarctica? That is quite a lot of rabbits. Even in the Arctic regions we may find rabbits, such as the lovely Arctic hare on display in this image, which also happens to be the largest of lagomorphs.

They may have a reputation for being skittish creatures, but I would conjecture it takes a certain level of guts to live in a region where the polar bear reigns as apex predator - although in all honesty, it's more likely going to be contending with wolves and other foes much smaller than a bear, but I'm sure you see my point.

"Okay, time for me to wrap up Day 2 of speaking on behalf of Team Rabbits with whatever non-Nintendo rabbit representation within pop culture off the top of my little head. Of course, there's the multitude of rabbit characters created by Warner Brothers, most famous being Bugs Bunny, later on, during the 1990s, other such rabbits came along in Tiny Toon Adventures, like Buster Bunny and Babs Bunny, and around Space Jam, you also had Lola Bunny come along. In the 2000s, you also had the Loonatics Unleashed cartoon, which featured Ace Bunny and Lexi Bunny, descendants of Bugs and Lola, respectively. In Disney films and series, you can also find your fair share of rabbit representation, such as Br'er Rabbit, the White Rabbit from Disney's Alice In Wonderland adaptation, Roger Rabbit from the 1989 Disney film, in certain comic adaptations of Br'er Rabbit's adventures, you also had a girlfriend for the character, a girl rabbit named Molly. At least, as far as Dutch comic adaptations of the character are concerned. As for rabbits not related to Warner Bros or Disney or the like, there's Dr. Rabbit, the world's only dentist rabbit who once acted as a mascot and spokesperson for Colgate Toothpaste, there's the Flemish giants that you frequently see wandering around the lush green lands that the Teletubbies hail from, there's Dr. Colosso from the Nickelodeon sitcom The Thundermans, there's Angel, Fluttershy's pet rabbit from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, there's rabbits available as a playable species in the online MMO game Animal Jam, there's Peter Cottontail, there's the similarly named Peter Rabbit, there's the Rabbids who first appeared in the Rayman series before going on to receive their own franchise that ended up overshadowing Rayman's franchise, there's Bobo, a rabbit who's had a couple of televised kids shows in the Netherlands and Belgium, as well as a magazine aimed at preschoolers released in those countries. And that's pretty much all the rabbit representation in pop culture I can think of. And with that, I wrap up Day 2 of speaking on behalf of Team Rabbits, and when I wake up, I will return with more thoughts to share on behalf of Team Rabbits."

What a colorful creature indeed! Mandarin Ducks are exclusive to east Asia and prefer habitats with trees, especially overhanging ones. The image above is of a male - females have a brown "camouflage" color to them.

Pekin Ducks are often considered one of the friendliest types of duck and just one look at these cuties and you can see why, they're precious.

"Day 3 of speaking on behalf of Team Rabbits is almost over, and only now have I managed to think of a couple more examples of rabbit representation within pop culture. Better late than never, I suppose. Anyhoo, other representation of rabbits in pop culture that came to mind for me are Rekkit Rabbit from the anime series of the same name, Judy Hopps and her parents from Disney's Zootopia and its sequel, Max from the Sam and Max franchise, the various incarnations of the Easter Bunny across animated history, Doomguy in the DOOM reboot trilogy once having owned a pet rabbit, Peppy Hare in the Star Fox franchise, Bunny Hop, which is a board game where the player tries to navigate a number of colored rabbits up a hill using cards to try and claim the giant carrot on top of the hill for themselves, multiple animated series featuring rabbits as a stuffed animal (Some of which I would like to own in real life, I'll admit), the various adaptations of Winnie the Pooh having a rabbit character who is simply named Rabbit, Home on the Range, the Disney film from the 2000s also features a rabbit character named Lucky Jack, T.U.F.F. Puppy also featured a character named Jack Rabbit in one of their episodes, and the list could go on for a little while longer, but that's about all I got for Day 3 of speaking on behalf of Team Rabbits, so if I got any more rabbit representation within pop culture come to mind tomorrow, I'll be sure to share."

Children love playing Duck, Duck, Goose, where they all sit on the ground in a circle. One player stands up and goes around the circle, gently patting the heads of the others while saying "Duck, duck, duck…" eventually, they will say "Goose!" instead of duck, causing the kid to get up and chase them around the circle. The petter must sit down where the "goose" once was, and if successful, the goose will be the new petter.

It doesn't actually feature ducks and geese, but it does have "duck" in the title so I say it counts!

But for the sake of posting a duck-related image, here's a children's story titled Duck, Duck, Goose. I never read it but it looks endearing!

"Day 4 of speaking on behalf of Team Rabbits, and as the day reaches its end, my brain still manages to churn out a couple more examples of rabbit representation in the world of fiction; Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, for instance - A character from the Golden Age of animation and one of Disney's earliest characters before Mickey Mouse became the company's flagship character. This eventually led as a major plot point for the game Epic Mickey, which starred Oswald as a major, if not main character. There's also a number of preschooler shows that star rabbits as the main characters, such as Louie, which has a rabbit of the same name as the star of a preschool show centered around drawing. There's also Thumper, a major character in Disney's Bambi, who is a rabbit who earns his name from his species' ability to thump their hind legs on the ground to warn his kin of oncoming danger, Clover, a rabbit character from Disney Junior series Sofia the First, and potentially other cases of the lagomorpha order appearing within the realms of fiction that I can't name off the top of my head today, but tomorrow's another day, so I'll be sure to let you know of more examples of the appearance of the lagomorpha order in fiction then if they happen to come to mind."

Hello, everyone! It is I, DryBonesBandit, here to bring knowledge of the many rabbits we have come to know and love across the years! Emphasis on the love! They do not attack me like ducks do! Cataquacks can be very mean! Anyway, I'll start off by going over two interesting species inhabiting the planet we... well, inhabit.

Snow Bunnies are known to many as a sweet treat to enjoy during the summertime, but it would surprise you to know that this dessert is based on an actual species! They aren't seen too often, but these docile creatures are known to live in the cold settlements of Snowflake Lake and the islands of Slippenglide and Heatfreeze; residents of the latter two love making sculptures of these chill creatures. Snow Bunnies were the inspiration for a delicacy known by the same name, which is cold enough to freeze anyone who eats it (it heals them too)! I've heard that Snow Bunnies made with Turtley Leaves have negative effects on those around you, however. Also, try mixing one with a Pink Apple. It's to die for.

These large lagomorphs are known as Mega Rabbits, for very obvious reasons. Bigger than the average rabbit, they have the strength to carry Mega Mushrooms, along with Green Stars like their smaller cousins. From what I've heard, the bunnies of the Sprixie Kingdom took action when Bowser and his minions attacked, hiding valuable Green Stars from them and presenting them to a hero with the necessary skills to free the land. Haroic, isn't it? Large rabbits have also been found in Lake Lapcat, but they aren't the same thing as these Sprixie Kingdom specimens. Oh, and if you ever see one of these bunnies poof away, don't be worried! They can just do that.

Ducks are cute, in fact. There is a species of duck that is extremely friendly..
 
I hinted at this at the beginning of the 'Shroomfest, but I present to you Duck Run, a cute video from almost 16 years ago about a duckling following a person everywhere. It was published on April 10, 2010 by maltizhan and currently has 13,932,108 views and 75K likes.

On May 3, 2013, Discovery UK reposted the video with the same name (Duck Run), which is even more popular than the original! It has 21,660,338 views and 430K likes. Those are some very high numbers! Despite the warning at the start of Discovery UK's version, there is no foul language.

What a persistent duckling who never gives up! We should all follow in its footsteps.​
 
Today I want to share some Pokémon that are based on ducks!

First up is Farfetch'd which is a Normal/Flying type in it's Kantonian form and a Fighting type in it's Galarian form.
A fun fact about Farfetch'd is that in the original Pokémon Red and Blue you couldn't find any wild Farfetch'd, they were only available via a trade in Vermillion City! This was changed in Yellow version and they can be found on routes 12 and 13.

Galarian Farfetch'd also has an evolution, and it's evolution method is pretty unique! You can evolve a Galarian Farfetch'd into a Sirfetch'd after it lands 3 critical hits in a single battle!

Next I want to talk about the iconic Psyduck which is a Water Type! Psyduck can be found in almost every Pokémon game as it is Junichi Masuda's favourite Pokémon!

These guys are not the only Pokémon based on ducks, I will return to share some more another day!
 
It's the final day before the first judge session! I've decided to choose a few random duck facts from PETA and see if you'll learn something new today!​

  • Ducks can see better than we can?​
  • Ducks can live up to 20 years?​
  • Ducks are meticulously clean animals (they make sure EVERYTHING about them is clean, from their feathers to nests)?​
  • Ducks are capable of abstract thinking and have deep emotional lives? They feel pain and show affection to their family members to comfort them. Awwwww!​
  • Ducklings communicate with each other before hatching?​

Yes, birds, ducks included, are often very colorful! If that's the contest, they objectively have rabbits beat. But perhaps we should consider why that's the case? While bird populations at birth are essentially balanced between males and females, by adulthood, many birds - including ducks! - end up with a ratio that's more skewed towards males. The colorful feathers of male birds play an important role in attracting a mate in a competitive environment, and signal health and vitality.

Rabbits, on the other hand, have no such problem, retaining a 50:50 population. And let's not forget, they're prey animals! Bright flashy colors may be attention-grabbing, but that's exactly the problem - to a predator, you may as well be putting a McDonald's out in the woods (at least one from before corporations decided colorful buildings suck). The browns, grays, whites, etc. of rabbits may not be the most interesting to us, but it allows them to blend in with the environments where they live. That's pretty important for survival, especially when you can't easily fly away from danger!
