I think it's about time I made this thread…

Hello everyone! I'm Sparks, writer of the Random Video Analysis section in Palette Swap. It's where I analyze a random short YouTube video and write about it! While initially a guest section in June 2024, I brought it back as a monthly section in January 2025.

Sometimes I have trouble finding videos to analyze. So I thought, "Why don't I ask the nice friendly people on the Mario Boards? Maybe they'll give me great suggestions!" and well, that's why this thread exists!

Do you have an idea for a video I could analyze? Maybe it could be one I've never seen before! Ooh… exciting!

Before you make any suggestions, I have four rules you must follow:

  1. Make sure the video is at most 5 minutes long. 5 minutes is the maximum length I'll allow because anything longer would be too tiring and difficult to analyze and write.
  2. The video's content must not exceed a PG rating. I keep my sections family friendly, so please do not suggest any violent videos full of profanity or anything along those lines. If you're unsure about a video, ask me first and I'll see if I accept it or not.
  3. The video must be on YouTube. I get all of my videos from YouTube!
  4. People who haven't recommended videos before will be prioritized. This is to make sure everyone gets a turn. Fairness!

Also note that sometimes there will be videos I want to do because of special occasions. I already have videos planned for:

  • May 2026
  • August 2026

BONUS:​

If I analyze your suggested video for a 'Shroom issue, I'll let you create a little section titled "Notes by requester", where you describe your experiences with the video! It can be a up to three paragraphs long, but you don't have to write that much if you don't want to.

  4. Only one video suggestion per user. To keep things fair, I'll only analyze one video per user. After I choose your video, please do not make any more suggestions in this thread. Make sure your video is the best one for me to do! I'll credit you when I write about your suggested video.

Now this is an amazing video I haven't seen before until today! Accepted!
 
@Technetium suggested this video on Discord. She initially suggested a video titled "We are almost at the end of the movie, and we haven't even used all of our stock-footage yet.", but it was a little over 5 minutes and had some edgy stuff in the intro.

There is a video of the same name that just shows the goofy chase scene that ensues. I asked Technetium if that's OK with her and she agreed, so I have accepted this video below!

 
For your consideration, this little animation I encountered by pure chance many years ago:

I'd like to request that this just be kept as a backup for a month where you're otherwise out of ideas, please don't feel obligated to cover it!
 
Big thanks to @Boo1268 for suggesting A Day in the Life of Mario! I already finished October's edition, so an exciting Halloween-themed video is planned!
 
Thank you @Technetium for suggesting "We are almost at the end of the movie, and we haven't even used all of our stock-footage yet."! I have a video I want to do for December, but feel free to continue making suggestions for the future!

Starting now, I'll let those who have already submitted a video to do so again! You all can send requests to me each month, but to make sure everyone gets a turn, I'll prioritize people who haven't suggested a video before. I'll update the first post to include this.

That second video is goofy, but it has one instance of profanity. It's probably heard in PG movies anyways, so it's fine.
 
I think two weeks after the 'Shroom issue release is good. Submissions will close after !

They're technically videos, so sure! Make sure the song you have in mind is appropriate for all ages though.

I watched this video today at the recommendation of my dad's friend and I want to bring it to my English 101 class as a discussion piece so I'd love to see what you have to say about it.
