Crazy that you'd have Odyssey here when it actually did give Waluigi more acknowledgement than any other mainline Mario game has, via his outfit being available. I get it though, I don't think he needs to be in ALL these games but come on in Wario's games it seems like a no brainer
wow it sure is a shame waluigi appeared in zero nintendo switch games, as op showcased every mario on the nintendo switch. there are no other nintendo switch games, no games where you can play as waluigi, none, zero, zilch.
I consider being playable in so many spin-off titles to be a blessing as opposed to being a boss in a 3D Mario platformer to never get acknowledged ever again.
I have a feeling that this is posted to only get affirmation on this opinion, which in this case then yes, Waluigi didn't appear in the games that a subsection of fans only count.
But... I have more to say on this matter, so if you are only interested, you could read on.
-------
Based on what I have seen so far, I think Waluigi is fine so far. Did he only appear in the games that some fans deem as "lesser"? That's not up for questioning. But in this time, Waluigi also has:
Playability in many of the spinoffs. It doesn't seem like it, but being playable is not some dismissible privilege. Otherwise there won't be a demand for favourites to be playable.
A mascot costume designed after him.
Being dressed in clothing that is not just his cap and overalls. Like how in Mario Tennis and Mario Golf, he dresses in clothing suited for the event. Note that in those games, other characters are also dressed, so he's not left out of the fun.
An acknowledgement in a main Mario game, thanks to a costume for Mario to wear in Super Mario Odyssey.
A Waluigi-themed controller (the PowerA one)
A pizza that puts Waluigi (and Wario) on the packaging
(Another thing worth pointing out but not essential to the list is that Waluigi is finally acknowledged as a Major Character since last year for the Mario Awards, which is a big step up)
That seems pretty good for a character who supposedly never counted as appearing in a game.
One thing that kind of bugs me is how some fans treat certain series as the "important ones", while others don't. Based on the image collage, they are the Super Mario platformers, character-led series, and the RPGs. I do wonder if Waluigi supposedly appear in one of the "important" games, would Waluigi have made it, or would the goalposts move to make the series no longer count as important? So for example, if Waluigi personally appears in Mario + Rabbids, would that series no longer be important because it is somehow "tainted" by his presence? Given how Mario embraced spinoffs in a way that not many series do, the segregation frankly felt like a way to gatekeep and to shame people who like the character.
And also, if the series that Waluigi appear in are considered "lesser", then logically every character who appears in the "important" games dodged a bullet by NOT appearing in the standard spinoffs, as that would supposedly demean them in the way Waluigi is supposedly demeaned by currently appearing only in spinoffs. By the way, it's strange how RPGs get treated as one of the "good" series (for lack of a better term), despite being spinoff series themselves.
I'm glad Daisy get to appear in some of those important games, because I can already see a similar infographic for Daisy if that somehow didn't happened. Yet she seems similarly better-treated these years. Obligatory mentions to Super Mario Run and Super Mario Bros. Wonder for her playability, but in addition to that, she is one of the initial batch of represented characters for Super Nintendo World, and got a mascot costume for it! Not to mention playability in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (though I would've liked it if she were Melee's clone instead of Dr. Mario so that her divergence could happen earlier; Dr. Mario hardly amounted to much).
I'm sorry for the rant, but at least I got that off my chest.
Waluigi must be really bummed that Diddy Kong nearly qualified for having a dark age, but his saving grace was his microgame cameo in WarioWare: Get it Together
