Unpopular opinions about video games in general.

Regardless of how toxic online multiplayer has been with the other stuff I played, playing Mario Kart 7 online against people was completely non-toxic, probably mainly because of the fact that you can't do text chatting. I sucked at it though LOL. I lost like 98% of the time, and all these other players were always zooming past me. I got schooled SO many times. 🤣

PC game developers should be under no obligation or expectation to hold back or not utilize modern GPU features just because of people who are still running low-end GPUs from years ago.

Many people say that the N64 controller is the weirdest. I personally disagree and say it's the PS5 controller. The design is just so weird to me lol 🤣

the dualsense is just the standard symmetrical dual analog design sony's been doing since the original PSX dual analog controller in the 90s what's weird about that lol.

video game narratives matter
the simplicity of a narrative doesn't negate what it is
narrative can be made through things other than dialogue, if the artist chooses to include dialogue it need not always be epic angst.
visuals are language, audio is language, physics are language, these all communicate.
this medium is built upon an intimate engagement with these not quite like any other.

mario is a defined character
luigi is a defined character
peach is a defined character
bowser is a defined character

they are cartoons yes and people can like them and talk about them and care. it is language, it carries intent, it contains meaning. it can be analyzed, it can be cherished, it can be critiqued, it can be ignored, it can inspire you. Just because you're insecure and have a desire to reinforce your normalcy does not mean people will stop playing around and having fun. but uh oh no you like the toy differently, im more emotionally detached, this is unhealthy actually and i know your every thought and must interrupt for some odd justice.

one can imagine scrimblo as sad and happy and all the feels i believe

Aside from the pretentious story, Sonic 06 was alright. Didn't find any game breaking glitches other than the purple gem infinite jump (which I refrained from using). Played it on PC though so no long loading times. Best things are level concepts and music.

I don't think toys to life games were bad and I wish Disney Infinity didn't end since I never got to play it 😔

At least we got amiibos. The Amiibo training in Smash is close enough! My Bowser Amiibo is level 50. Does anyone know the maximum level you can get them to?

I tried one level of Sonic Colors Ultimate and it is not for me 👎🏻. The way camera moves is hard to follow and makes me dizzy.

Realism and complexity in gameplay is infinitely better for a game than realism and complexity in graphics and a stylised and consistent art style will always be better than a 3d unity game where the dev chose all the models with the most polygons for every uninteractable object.

But also, both kinds of realism and complexity and the general obsession with immersive open-world realism is sometimes unhealthy and to some people transforms games from a hobby to a self-destructively escapist alternative to real-life. You are not supposed to know the intricacies of the lore of Tamriel better than real world history.

I mean, even hyperrealistic graphical styles still requires art direction for it to look good. No matter how cartoony your game looks, it'll be bland without a cohesive art direction, see how Multiversus suffers from a cartoonish artstyle that fails to deliver.
