Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam

That might as well be as official as the SMB3 cartoon.

I don't know if Mario is Missing (whose PC version was developed by the same developers) can be considered more official either...

Anything official is canon in the Maryohniverse. Nothing is "more" official than the other. So yeah, you can count Mario is Missing.

調子に乗りすぎたみたいねぇ

Looks like you were too carried away, huh?

to be cocky/get carried away (at least that's what jisho says, i've never encountered this phrase before myself so *shrugs*)
to do to much of something (rather did too much of something b/c past tense)
seems/looks like (there's always this difference between みたい, らしい、~そう that i never seem to fully grasp but i believe みたい specifically means 'looks like' as opposed to 'seems like' or something idk)
huh?, yeah?, right?, etc. (whatever matches wendy's personality really)

The wait is much longer for me unfortunately :/

You know I can overlook the lack of new characters or deep story if the game delivered is solid.

From that sixthaxis review:

What’s Bad:

Battle music that grates on you.

It makes me wish that this and other RPGs had 5 or more battle music that plays randomly whenever you go on battle so the music doesn't quickly become repetitive.

Hm, there seems to be pacing problems according to Nintendo World Report, specifically those Toad rescue missions. I don't think Nintendo World Review should even factor story as a big minus point since Mario isn't aiming for a great story in the first place.

Meanwhile, gamesradar said that the pacing is excellent. Maybe it boils to personal preference? God is a Geek also said the pacing is spot on.

The amiibo function doesn't seem to be very well-received probably because it's a dispensable mechanic and the methods to use them is drawn out.

The nintendolife one also complains about the similar environments as this: "The rolling green hills, sandy deserts, spooky forest and icy mountain that make up the majority of the game feel slightly tired before you even arrive[...]" I have to agree, unfortunately, we're all pretty tired of these.

Overall, it seems that the reviewers really liked this game. It's probably going to do better than Sticker Star. While Nintendolife said one thing about Kammy Koopa, all reviews didn't really complain about the lack of OCs; some mentioned the lacking story, but expecting an engaging story from any Mario game, including its previous ones, is expecting too much.

I think I will definitely like it more than Dream Team.

i skipped dream team because it apparently dragged on for hours and the tutorials were ridiculous

but this game is supposedly 25 hours long and that's a pretty good length (especially for me considering that i just completed superstar saga in a similar time)

i might actually pick it up soon, but i've got so many games to play already that i might hold off until the new year or something

Dream Team had pacing problems, some parts of that game dragged on. The game takes 30-40 hours (depending on your approach) to beat but you could get rid of at least 10 of those hours if you got rid of tutorials and cut down on the padding.

25 hours will make it the second longest game in the series but it should feel less tedious.

Final boss music. Don't worry, no spoilers as to what the final boss is.

and now that period starts again where i try not to listen to the final boss music until i reach that point in the game

The final version was "Got the wind knocked out of your sails, didn't you?"

Gotta love Roy...

And that marvelous ambiguity of Bowser Jr. saying Dad in front of Roy, without clarifying if he's also his dad...

Ah, but that's already been done in Thousand-Year Door.

Pity it's the average looking one. Oh well. Still a cool boss.
