I don't really feel that way but I guess I'll change the OP

An RPG by definition does not require to be solely turn-based. Super Paper Mario basically has every single element of an RPG barring the typical turn-based combat fare you see whenever you think of the word "RPG". Super Paper Mario has a level-up system, a far more complicated story (which is typically a feature in many JRPGs, though it's not required to have such), equipment, powers, stats, etc. It's most certainly an RPG, specifically an action, platformer RPG.

Re: Top 9 Mario RPG's

The Thousand Year Door
Paper Mario 64
Super Paper Mario
Bowser's Inside Story
Superstar Saga

I haven't played the rest.

2 - Paper Mario
3 - Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
4 - Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
5 - Super Paper Mario
6 - Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
7 - Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
8 - Paper Mario: Sticker Star

(Haven't played Dream Team yet.)

No offense but I can't really say I understand this. RPGs don't just consist of a battle system. SPM beats out Sticker Star in every other RPG aspect, mainly the story, level system, chapters, and characters. So to include Sticker Star while leaving out SPM is...strange. But you edited the OP so I'll just post my list:

1.Super Paper Mario
2.Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
3.Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
4.Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
5.Mario & Luigi: Dream Team
6.Paper Mario
7.Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
8.Paper Mario: Sticker Star

Still haven't played SMRPG.

Gonna take a shot in the dark for this one.

You didn't enjoy playing as Bowser and you hated the mini-games.

Re: Top 9 Mario RPG's

The ones for me that aren't ranked are SMRPG, PM, PM:TTYD, and M&L:SS. I actually think I forgot everything that happened in my little runthrough of TTYD and I haven't played the other 3.

1. Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time
2. Super Paper Mario
3. Mario and Luigi: Dream Team
4. Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
5. Paper Mario: Sticker Star

Close, but it goes a lot deeper than that.

Off the top of my hed, the forced minigames were okay but they were fairly dull, the optional minigames were very unenjoyable, the Bowser gameplay was okay at best, the giant battles were a pain (specially the train), most of the music wasn't very memorable or that good, the inside Bowser areas were bland in design, I didn't like a bunch of the special moves, the game takes a while to actually become enjoyable, and overall it's far too easy.

I could probably go on if I thought about it more, but I think I've made it clear I really don't like this game.

How can something be "more of an RPG" than the other? It makes literally zero sense. We get it Sticker Star was a ---- game, but just because it's ---- doesn't mean it's not an RPG; quality of a game has literally zero bearing on what genre it is.

Re: Top 9 Mario RPG's

Really? I thought he meant that Super Paper Mario is a superior RPG game.

Then that's a complete non-sequitur. Arguing about a genre has zero to do with its quality.

Thats understandable and I can actually agree with a few of those points. Especially the soundtrack which really only had one memorable song.

yeah, I agree with you on this one

which one was the most memorable one for you?

Re: Top 9 Mario RPG's

In the final, though I wouldn't praise it as much as other people would.

Re: Top 9 Mario RPG's

Haven't played Partners in Time

1. Super Paper Mario
2. TTYD
3. Paper Mario 64
4. Dream Team
5. Bowser's Inside Story
6. Super Mario RPG
7. Superstar Saga
8. Sticker Star

And that being said Super Mario RPG is an amazing game by itself, that shows just how awesome the other games are

except for you know what

Re: Top 9 Mario RPG's

^Why is Superstar Saga so low? Just wondering.

Mcmadness said:

Eh, it had more than that for me, along with In the Final I also liked the Bumpsy Plains theme, the normal boss theme, Fawful's theme, Bowser's Giant Battle theme, Mario & Luigi's normal battle theme, Toad Town, Peach's Castle (under Fawful's control), etc.

Idk it felt more dull to me compared to Bis and DT and also Fawful was way better in Bis

Superstar Saga is still great but it just never reached those games for me and i didn't exactly know where else I could place it lol

it's about on par with super mario rpg for me.

Also I've played Superstar Saga after playing BiS and Dream Team and all the others except for Sticker Star
