A Mario animated movie by Sony Pictures!?!

Animated with a simple fantasy plot with an emphasis on light hearted whimsy and humour. An adaptation of the basic Mario scenario but obviously altered to be more movie appropriate. Thats ideal.

that's what i'd like to see too

if we're going to have a proper mario movie, it's better off if they cater using familiar assets.

Re: Sony Pictures had the rights to make a Mario animated movie

I just hope it doesn't use crazy re-designs if it happens.

Re: Sony Pictures had the rights to make a Mario animated movie

well usually, crazy redesigned are by directors who don't know what they're doing, so the quality will still end up terrible regardless

Reminds me of how the directors for the current movie didn't want the bros to ever actually wear their classic overalls and only put it in the last 20 minutes or so because they were ordered to

Yeah, no.

Re: Sony Pictures had the rights to make a Mario animated movie

Well you said that kissing should not be allowed in animated kids films, there's a lot of kissing in animated movies besides Disney so it's possible Mario could have that as well

Re: Sony Pictures had the rights to make a Mario animated movie

GUYS

IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES

THIS COULD BE THE SPIDER-MAN 3 OF VIDEO GAME MOVIES AKA THE MOST CONTROVERSIAL ONE

Re: Sony Pictures had the rights to make a Mario animated movie

I've been hearing about this myself at the Smashboards. I am uncertain about the idea of a Mario movie, as the Mario titles aren't known for voice acting.

Re: Sony Pictures had the rights to make a Mario animated movie

Watch Charles Martinet's vines if you need convincing that Mario and friends could be fully voiced, no problem.

Re: Sony Pictures had the rights to make a Mario animated movie

It's not so much characters like Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Bowser that I'm concerned about. It's more the secondaries, such as the Toads, the Koopa Troop, and even Yoshi.

I'm actually concerned about Mario. They cannot possibly have him be his usual boring self if this comes to be.

Yoshi would probably do his usual gig with subtitles or something

If they do create it I hope they use the RPGs as a base for the story.

and i hope they don't
Don't lie, you would love a movie based on Partners in Time. ;)

Of course I'd love a Partners in Time based movie, it's the only ----ing way Baby Luigi will have a starring role in any Mario-based narrative ever

it's just that it's pitted up against the other RPGs that DON'T have Baby Luigi in them

Re: Sony Pictures had the rights to make a Mario animated movie

and that's where i'd' rather have the main series than the rpgs

partners in time is the exception

Re: Sony Pictures had the rights to make a Mario animated movie

Plus if there is going to be a movie it should be based off the most important part of the series, not a spin off.

Re: Sony Pictures had the rights to make a Mario animated movie

OK so have no story and be about platforming only? That sounds like a flop if you ask me.

you CAN make stories on mario games as long as you have a competent director who understands the source material
