Look at it! Look at it! LOOK AT IT!

I'd rather this thread not be about bashing harmless drawings by other people. It's a real possibility this was drawn by a child.

I can't believe this...he sounds like a robot!! Does Nintendo really need to eccentuate the fact that they're using AI when they don't even have the voice sound like Charles or Kevin at all? His mouth also looks artificial, like it's moving in a way that feels unatural. Why did this get approved?!

So I guess the story behind this was that this display was used to promote Target, as well as like a holographic AI technology or something?? I heard they partnered with Target for in-store AI customer service, and this display was a partnership between the tech company and Target and had other people and characters to talk to. They said this was not, as a matter of fact, approved or licensed by Nintendo.

I think enough years has elapsed for me to confidently say that Mario from Super Mario Odyssey has not aged well.

It's.. the shape of his open mouth that gets me. It doesn't seem natural to me. It always felt off to me.

On the left is the original ugly mouth. I've made edits on the vertices on the mouth on the right and... yeah...

I also do not like the colors of his hair nor do I like how his body is proportioned.

Mario_in_Real_Time_Unfinished.png

Early iteration of the "Real Time" head, most (in)famously used in Mario Teaches Typing 2 (and the memes it's spawned), though the SM64 one is likely a heavily downscaled version of it.
This manages to be even creepier than the final one with those unbeveled eye holes; though the dark shading on them combined with the black hat almost make this look like a goth Mario. Or at least a Tim Burton stop-motion Mario.
