Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Re: Mario Kart 8

Not that I know of so far, unfortunately.

I do have the files for Mario Kart 8 unzipped somewhere, but tbh idk what to do with them :P

Re: Mario Kart 8

I'd know about some useful files to extract the information for the Wiki, but I fear for the competitive community a bit, and I'm still wondering if there is some method that is a bit more acceptable in terms of copyright, a bit like in the case of MKDD and MKW.

Re: Mario Kart 8

Nintendo doesn't usually give a crap about what we do with their files in all honesty, unless of course, you share the entire ISO

Unless you post the files to a bad file hosting like Mediafire where they can flag your files in the name of copyright even if it actually doesn't break copyright laws.

Re: Mario Kart 8

i'm waiting patiently for sound hacks , something that most would actually use instead of generic giant parts.

Re: Mario Kart 8

I'd be impressed if it became possible to modify the stats for each character. You could add more stat diversity to the mix.

Sound hacks already exist. You can mute the game for starters.

Also, Mario Kart 8 uses a BFSTM format, a format very similar to .brsar, and is available to be converted from brstm to bfstm. Mario Kart 8 does use a .brsar file, but I checked it and it doesn't seem to contain loop points from what I can gather so that means you don't have to patch it??? I haven't looked into it enough.

lol, the reason to get excited for "generic giant parts" is the inference that if people are able to mod kart parts, then they are likely able to mod the sound.

Re: Mario Kart 8

are there freefly hacks yet? i got a kick out of those in mkwii

i'm also praying for custom tracks but i'm not going to set my hopes too high there

Re: Mario Kart 8

Free Fly hacks are awesome and I absolutely loved them in Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Wii, as they let me torture Wario (Mario Kart Wii's free fly + movement via D-Pad of GC Controller are the perfect tools to make Wario last). Pretty sure the hackers agree that they're fun to use: the cheats nearly always appear in every game. It's only a matter of time before we see a Free Fly cheat.

Free fly hacks appears to require a modding of the tracks, as each track has now a "Lakitu tunnel" outside which Lakitu comes and takes you back to the road.

In the meantime, the in-game stats are being discovered:
but sadly, no transcription yet.
