Well, Hitmonlee and Jynx are human-like pokemon, so I don't find it weird.

But Charizard can breed with a Magikarp? I find that weird.

Charizard is a dragon while Magikarp is a fish.

Neither is Gyrados but w/e.
 
The Dragon egg group isn't entirely limited to actual dragons, but it also includes various lizards, serpents, and anything that looks reptilian. And since Magikarp evolves into Gyarados, being able to breed with Charizard is quite valid.

Of course, one oddity is that Zangoose and Seviper can breed with each other, considering that they are eternal enemies.
 
Too bad charizard needs to be an actual dragon fire type cause thats way better than flying fire.
