The Official Rant About SpongeBob Thread

It used to be good.

It now sucks.

And with brain bleaches called The Splinter and Squid House Fancy, it deserves complaint and urging potential new watchers of Spongebob to proceed with caution.

Plus, what's the content of his reviews? Is it appropriate for children? I doubt it.

He does swear sometimes so he's not really too much of a child-friendly reviewer. But he does basically give what these bad Spongebob episodes deserve. (He of course doesn't only do bad Spongebob episodes. He has a series called Animated Atrocities where he covers a bunch of other animated stuff that are pretty terrible. He also have the opposite of that in regards to Admirable Animations.)

but they're kids!

it doesn't matter to them how bad a show is, they'll still watch it
I don't think you're giving kids enough credit. We shouldn't just let kids watch stupid crap because they're kids. They also deserve quality entertainment.

I wish we had more shows like TLA and Korra. These are very good shows for kids (and adults) and are much better than all the other crap for kids these days.

Oh my.

Also, I feel a bit cynical towards this reviewer. He also does reviews of MLP episodes, which is probably why SonicMario knows about him in the first place.

Yeah I won't deny it's how I found him. But even if you're not interested in what he does for that show. He does do some good things that's non-MLP related (Even if there are a few times in those videos he mentions MLP, like he mentions the episode Magical Mystery Cure in the Atlantis Squarepantis review).

all kids need to watch is sesame street, so they can learn things

although apparently even that's a lame show now, so...

you guys should check out joshscorcher's MLP reviews

as a non-brony i can say they are hilarious

I still say the toenail scene in House Fancy was the most inappropriate thing they could have ever put in Spongebob. Seriously, it's making me cringe just thinking about it.

I completely despise the episode "Restraining SpongeBob". I just can't stand watching the first few minutes where Squidward suffers all sorts of cruel injuries and the "Fried Squidward" scene is just ridiculous.

It's so grotesque and terrifying that even the mods here censored it once when someone posted an animated gif of it. Seriously, the mods had to ----ing censor something OFFICIAL from SPONGEBOB.

man do i love my squidward torture porn

Squidward is the only tolerable character in newer Spongebob episodes. And he gets punished all the time for being so. He's like the opposite of a Kharma houdini now. Bad things just seems to happen to him whether or not he actually deserves it.

This scene has given me some trauma after seeing it. I tried so hard pushing the searing image from my head, and I was still wincing and thinking about it long after the episode is finished. I'm crying inside and a little dead. This is the most traumatic scene in Spongebob, and what's seen cannot be unseen.

I'm a faint of heart, and the writers, animators, ANYONE who was involved in this wretched scene need to be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

And it's only a few years ago. How would have this scene affected children?

I think I overemphasized that scene, but again, I did say I am a "faint of heart" type.

I hate when they make ridiculous cuts from episodes due to controversial reasons.

I really hope the upcoming movie is the final end of the franchise.

Tough luck cuz Spongebob is a cash cow

And yet that scene from House Fancy and the entire Splinter episode somehow don't get taken off the air.

There's another movie? Oh, god.

You know, there's a really subtle hint that the movie is going to be really bad.
