The two brothers snore loudly near Peach's castle while a sleeping Toad guards the entrance to hell. The Undead Dry Bones in the Underwhere, however, get pissed off and they send their worst to Mushroom Kingdom, which causes the Dream Depot to freak out and generate tons of monsters. Bowser kidnaps the Star Spirit, and Mario and friends fight a ton before they get locked in cages.
I always found 2019 to be an off year for Mario (really, only two major releases being, what, Super Mario Maker 2 and Luigi's Mansion 3?). I wonder if 2020's going to be better for Mario this year.
I didn't even know New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe released that year. It always felt like friggin' a 2018 port.
2/3 of the roster cut, including Captain Falcon, Marth, Ice Climbers, Zero Suit Samus, and King K. Rool. Corrin stays. Animation and texture quality cited as justification. Link gets an echo character, Dark Link.
2/3 of stages cut.
Many items including Fire Flowers cut for no reason.
Recycled animations, facial expressions still limited as ever.
Everything freezes when someone goes up ladders.
Only Classic is the single player mode.
Frame-rate drops and pop-ins amuck.
Final Smashes completely gone, replaced by a souped up Super Mushroom.
Sound options have to be unlocked by KOing the 6th player two times in Brinstar.
Game generates record sales and positive reviews by critics, though fan reviews are pretty much binary.
Out of all item cartoon racers I've played, Red Shells still have the best tracking and the most reliable ones....
Crash Team Racing's Missiles miss way too many times.
Sonic & All Stars Racing's drones are way too slow and tend to miss a bit too many times
Diddy Kong Racing's Homing Missile's tracking is decent, but requires two Red Balloons to get, so not really reliable. It's also the only thing that can actually track in the game.
Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart's Jawz tend to miss if you're pretty close to the racer since they can't turn really well. Not sure about long-distance tracking, but it seems like only the Spiny-Shell equivalent can really stop someone in first, as triple Jawz don't really exist (but there is Jawz x2).
It's really odd why Smash Bros. gets almost no merch despite it being a very successful franchise. Amiibo has shown that merchandising the series is a profitable venture. Just imagine Smash Bros. themed Monopoly, Smash Bros. diorama merch, Master Hand plushies, Smash Bros articulate action figures that can equip Beam Swords and Motion Sensor Bombs.
Even though I said that I am indifferent towards Mario, I just want you to know that I don't hate him at all. I very rarely choose him as a CPU opponent in the Mario Party games, and if I was allowed to choose the CPU characters in Mario Kart, I would never put Mario on Lord Bowser's team. I would only put characters that I dislike on the opposing team, and Mario is not one of them.
If you think Mario Kart Tour's subscription is horrid, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp's offerings are even worse.
Seriously though, screw subscriptions. Have to make monthly micropayments for Nintendo Switch Online, then for Mario Kart Tour, then for Animal Crossing, then for Pokemon Bank; all of this nonsense adds up.
