Some nose going around sniffing everyone like a creep...

What, you think this is some kind of game? Yeah, I should've known when I saw this bunch. 50/50 shot we're screwed from the start, I say.

Ah, ha!! It's a... it's a...
RockPaperWizard6.png
uh... what is that? Paper? Rock? Sigh... I'm gonna have to consult with the judges on this one. One moment please.

Well, you're in luck! My name is Miles Prower, but people call me Tails because you know… my two tails, of course! (This is for both you and Sniffer, because he asked earlier.)

Would you like to tell me your name and what brought you to Rogueport? And… if you're a robot, who's your creator? Just out of curiosity.
Ah, why thank you for the questioning. A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mr. Prower. I am Xzzwls, and I am no mechanical product. I am a homo shapien, a geometrical entity. As for my visit, I was told by a subordinate with foresight that there would be a killing here that would be of interest to me. I had no evidence at the time, so I made the decision to pay a visit to the site and confirm their premonition. It seems my sources are accurate; a bit of an understatement though, I must add.

Glitz Yoshi: "Yeah. This number of course changes depending on how many total players. But as for the path not eliminating anyone…"
Glitz Yoshi: "That sounds like a good plan, but also it is missing something. Let me explain. Because there are many roles, we don't want to mislynch one of them on day one. But doing nothing but voting for no elimination is not advised as there needs to be some discussion. So in that case…"
Glitz Yoshi: "Vote: Cloudwalker. Cast a vote to try and gather information instead of doing nothing."
Ah, the route of pressure. You seek to draw information from I, but there is no reason for it. You cannot bring forth evidence from our conversations. The rules unseen to you forbid revealing one's roles. The strategy works not with anyone who wishes survival to be theirs. I seem to be eager to share what I can, so I would imagine you'd do better casting a vote on another here.

Anyhow,
Vote: Boo1268
Since you had voted for me, Yoshi, I figure I'd break the tie. Not that I'd be left without life from the gallows; I have no neck, you see.

Shmalu Sniffer:
I dont want things to get any worse than they already are see, so im gonna vote for no one see, none of you smell suspicious see (besides that rat fellow) so thats my choice for now see.

Tails
…somebody told you that a murder would happen here? This is beginning to worry me even more… thank you for your cooperation, Xzzwls…

1771823980428.png

Uh… hey, Mr. Ratooey (@Shmaluigi), seems like you're more intimately familiar with Rogueport and it's criminal past, mind sharing a few insights about your interest in Rogueport?

"Yar, so I been able ta calm the storm that suddenly picked up inside me head in direct response ta the murder o' one o' the investigators. Now, lemme get things straight...The leader o' the X-Nauts 'as been rebuilt into the Sir Yux we just encountered, an' some o' this Sir Yux's most competent underlings 'ave 'idden themselves amongst our ranks...An' now, it be up ta us ta figure out which one be with Sir Yux an' make 'em learn the Davy Jones' Locker combination courtesy o' the gallows in the Rogueport Plaza...Curse me cutlasses, this be quite the pickle I've gotten meself into..."

ClawgripFan9001 Backside.jpg

"Anyhoo, based on what little I've got ta work with at this exact moment, I choose ta vote fer no lynch, 'cause I don't want ta risk mislynchin' anyone on the first day an' givin' Sir Yux's people a head start in sendin' us all ta a watery grave. Though if any good reason fer me ta change me mind b'fore the day ends turns up, I'll oblige it."

I've been keeping quiet… mostly because I'm not roleplaying! Ha.

I've got no ill will towards anyone in particular, so I'm going to choose at random. Well more like having a wheel choose someone. Whoever it lands on is who I'm voting!

IMG_3429.jpeg

See this? It's got all of your names on it. I'm not included because I can't vote myself!

Anyways, here's who it landed on for night 1:
Rogueport wheel spin 1.gif
Vote: Boo1268

And just so you all know, I'm not ripping off one of RetroGameWheels' tactics. In fact, let me reveal a shocking plot twist: I've been doing it before it was cool!

As requested:

Vote tally:
Boo1268 (3) - Reverse Input, Cloudwalker, Sparks
No Elimination (2) - Boo1268, ClawgripFan9001
Cosmic Cowboy (1) - Yoshi the SSM
Hint Toad (1) - Ninelevendo

Take note that at the midway point of a Day phase, I will always post an overview of the current vote tally.

"Yar, seems pretty straightforward as things currently stand. Though I do 'ave ta ask if this means we can rest on our laurels 'till the terrible night sets in?"

What do you want me to say, buddy? It's the first day. We've got nothing to go off of besides an unidentified corpse in a hotel - as far as I'm concerned, anything's just a shot in the dark for now. Can't say I know anything about your powers but I doubt trying to take a whiff of folks is going to get us anywhere.

Trust me, I've seen a lot in my day. Folks sitting on their hands day one, or tossing around random accusations and seeing what sticks, or just taking a shot in the dark - that last one never ends well. But it's all played out by now. Me, I like to wait until we got some evidence to work with - past interactions, power usage, what have you. Scum managing to rat themselves out this early... well, it's not impossible, surprisingly, but usually not gonna happen. Otherwise we're just running the risk of giving 'em a head start on whittling down our numbers.

Uh… hey, Mr. Ratooey (@Shmaluigi), seems like you're more intimately familiar with Rogueport and it's criminal past, mind sharing a few insights about your interest in Rogueport?
Been here for years. Not a great place to be, but at least it's cheap. Not that it should matter much to you, fox.

You may not think it, friend, but your insight has been helpful to our investigation, So, not voting for anyone currently would be the best option see? since, like you said, we dont have lots of info to go off of see, plus we dont wants to tip the scales in the x nauts favor see, so voting for no one and not pointing fingers is the best way to go until we have more concrete suspects see.

Heard the news yet, Layman?

What, about Rogueport? It's the same news that happens every year. There's always something happening in that damn town. You couldn't order a pizza there without a gun at your head.

That's not the interesting part. I heard the Chair is finally mobilizing FLOWER to deal with it.

...FLOWER? Aren't most of those guys out on commission right now? At least two of them are chasing after that Fish criminal.

Apparently there's one still lined up for the job.

I don't get why we're bothering. Rogueport will never be fixed. Try as you will, it'll be the same blasted scene by next month.

One tragedy begets another, Layman. You of all people should know that. I think they're trying to stomp out something before it gets much worse.

Alright, so just who are they sending anyway?

F.

...It couldn't have been a less... eccentric agent?

In the squabbling aftermath of the victim's discovery, Rogueport was on an unsurprising lockdown. Besides our investigators, the streets were remarkably bare, contrasting the usual hubbub of the downtown district.

Still, even in a sea of bodies, the person who emerged likely would've been easily noticed.

Agent F

Hold, all of you! Let's not panic just yet. Agent F is on the scene now, and with my help, these Traitors will be caught by sundown.

"Yar, any 'elp we can get in weedin' out the enemies within be much appreciated right about now, so yer assistance couldn't 'ave come at a better time, Agent!"

Ah, certainly. Let me just get everything in order...

face (60).png
*ahem* Let's start with the new series first, hm? Of the three, I think that Kinato's Magic has the most potential. Unlike a great deal of shonen manga, the main character and his magic are built for support. This week's chapter is a great example, showing him using his seitai magic not to defeat the enormous monster, but to fix the injuries of his more powerful companion, who will presumably defeat the monster next week. It's a novel twist on the fantasy genre, and while I'm sure his own power and combat prowess will increase as the series progresses, I'm enjoying what's these first four chapters have on offer. I've also found Under Doctor to be an interesting concept, but it feels like it is leaning into a more typical "protagonist who is very skilled and beats everyone else fairly easily (through conventional and unconventional methods)" type of thing, so I think it has lost a bit of it's initial luster. Alien Headbutt is of little interest to me. Mixing wrestling with aliens is a novel idea, but the combination doesn't seem to lend any additional interest beyond what I've already seen in various cancelled serializations featuring either element individually.

face (52).png
Looking back a little to the previous set of new series, Gonron Egg is clearly moving towards an ending. I would not be surprised to see it end in the next month or two, getting axed in favour of a new series. Hero Girl and Demon Lord Call It Quits is a little more difficult to gauge, since being a comedy means it can end at any time without need for wrapping up long-running narrative setups, but this week's chapter certainly sets up one method for resolving the storyline, if it is required. Since The Elusive Samurai wrapped up last week and Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo will likely also finish before the next line-up of new serializations debuts, there may not be as much pressure as normal, but we'll have to wait and see.

face (53).png
Other than that, it was another stellar issue of Jump. There were, of course, some notable absences: One Piece was on break, and Kagurabachi had a bonus chapter instead of a full one. But everything else was quite good. Series like Shinobi Undercover, Witch Watch, and Ichi the Witch are all continuing some stellar story arcs, and Blue Box had a long-overdue development finally come to pass. Someone Hertz remains an excellent rising star, with special credit being due to the translators for being able to naturally localize the jokes in a way that is still understandable for English-speaking audiences. And, of course, the best series in Jump right now, Akane-banashi, is now gearing up for the next major battle arc, with an incredibly compelling setup.

face (62).png
That's what stuck out to me, at any rate. I'd love to see what you think, and if there's anything that stood out to you that I didn't notice.

Aren't you precious. I used to play detective when I was little too.

But listen, kid, this isn't the place to do dress up, as cute as that outfit looks on you. Rogueport is serious business! They've been in upheaval for years now, and only the most talented can fix that. That's why they sent me. So just allow me to keep my eye out, m'kay? Stay safe until I have reason to put together that "sus list". Then the bad guys will be as good as gone.
