INTRODUCTION
Rogues in Rogueport 2: The Uprising is a role-madness mafia game with unrevealed roles. It will be composed of two different groups: an uninformed majority going against an informed minority. During this game, we are going to label them as the Investigators (the uninformed majority colour coded in green), going against the Traitors (the informed minority colour coded in red).

The objective of this game is alike to your standard mafia game. The Investigators must eliminate all the Traitors. The Traitors on the other hand, must equal or outnumber the Investigators.


GAMEPLAY
Set up
This game will feature two different cycles: Day and Night phases

Day phases will last 48 hours. During a Day phase:

• You will receive results of the actions you submitted during a Night phase.
• A specific event will play out and will shake things up.
• The voting process will occur to eliminate a player from the game.

Night phases will last 24 hours. During a Night phase:

• If applicable, submit your action privately to the host.

Locations
Locations will be a feature during this game. Several players will be assigned to a location, and these locations will grant them one additional power. This power will be visible by all players, and can be either permanent or only usable once during the entire course of the game.

Not all players will be assigned to a location, however, if certain criteria are met, gaining an assignment to a location will be possible. Locations and their powers can be both assigned and usable by a player regardless of their alignment.

Events
At the beginning of a Day phase (excluding Day 1), an event will be announced and will occur during the same Day/Night cycle as it was announced. These events will shake up the game in different ways. A selected player will be given the decision to trigger an event set to happen during the next Day/Night cycle.

RULES

• Votes should be using the following format: "Vote: Ninja Squid". Unvoting should be using the following format: "Unvote". Please, keep that in mind, as this will help me keep track of them and avoid confusion.
• No elimination votes are allowed, but it will lose in a tie. If multiple players are tied during the final votes, it will result in a random elimination between the tied players.
• Once eliminated, do NOT post or react to posts in the Game thread, unless authorized by the host. Eliminated players can post in the Lounge or dedicated Spirit Chat. Do NOT reveal information that could be affecting the course of the game. The same rule applies to spectators.
• Role claiming is allowed, but players should NOT be quoting, taking screenshots or sharing anything regarding their role cards, or any messages sent to them privately by the host. If a player is caught breaking the following rule, they will be modkilled immediately.
• Roleplaying is allowed and encouraged, but please make it comprehensible enough to other players. If you are ensure of the character or RP you wish to use, you can contact me and we will work something out.
• Conversations regarding the game must be kept to official game channels provided by the host (Game Thread, Spirit Chat, Lounge Thread, etc.). However, casual conversations (nothing relating to significant speculations or information) outside these threads are fine.
• Unless stated otherwise during the game, players cannot interact with other players via PMs.
• Activity is important for this game to run efficiently. If you are signing up, you are expected to play. Players should at least post once or twice per phase. Missing a complete Day/Night cycle will result in a reminder being sent. Remaining inactive after that point will result with a removal from the game. If something happens that will make you inactive for a little while or if you ever need to drop out, reach out to me, and we will work something out.
• Rules are subject to changes. If that is the case, I will make announcements during the game's progress.

I am looking for a minimum of 12 players and a maximum of 16 players. There will not be a deadline for sign ups yet either (current estimated start date of mid to late February). Hopefully this won't get cancelled like the previous sequel to RiR.

5 years ago, a strange cat Yoshi went to Rogueport. And then the dice rolled and he was part of the mafia group called Bandits. However, the task to complete the goal was stopped by two cops who covered others up so that the Bandits were easily found. Despite that, he was able to be the last Bandit. And when the main cop checked the last one they thought was a Bandit but wasn't and announced his findings, this cat Yoshi knew his time was up. And just accepted his fate by revealing he was indeed a Bandit and made himself huge. After his defeat, he returned to normal size. However, he was not defeated. And after he got up, he teleported away. With the report of traitors at Rougeport, he knew that he needed to be there. Yes, there's a chance these traitors might recruit him because he was part of the Bandits. But he could also not be and help the other investigators in finding these traitors. But this time with a different look from last time since he was, after all, in his cat phase 5 years ago.
Glitz Yoshi: "Well, well, well. What do we have here? Another game in Rougeport? I remember that time well, as it was my first game on the mafia's side. I say that because in previous games to that point that I was in, I was innocent. And so as this game is celebrating 5 years since Rougeport, so am I will celebrate it as 5 years since I had seen both sides. In other words, I am signing up.

Question does role claiming mean we message you about weather or not we want an investigator role or a mafia role or does it mean we can Claim special abilities that our characters get?

In Mafia, role claiming refers to when you make a claim to what your role is in the thread, i.e. "I'm the Vigilante". Any role powers you receive will be entirely host-determined

"Role claiming" means publicly stating what role you have (e.g., saying "I'm the doctor and can do X if Y happens").

You're allowed to do it in your own words, because there's always a possibility you can be lying, but you can't directly quote a private communication from the host or screenshot a PM since that would remove the possibility of you lying.

Worth nothing, claims can carry their own risks, such as potentially making you a target!

Also I know it said there was no deadline to sign up or when the game starts but when do we get asigned our roles?

Usually, once the game is set to start (when the official game thread is up), the host will provide the roles privately to the players. In this case here, once the time comes, I will provide the relevant information.

With the current rate of sign ups, I think we will be able to start this sooner than later.

Update

With the current rate of sign ups and by giving it some thoughts, I decided that I will officially go with a minimum of 12 players and a rigid maximum of 16 players. I think that range of players would be ideal enough to allow the mechanics to be used to their full potential, and that should be more manageable. Therefore, there's now only five spots left!

Also, regarding the estimated start date, I will aim for somewhere between mid to late February depending on how things will go.

Sadly I am busy with a lot right now and think it is probably best if I not sign-up for this. But take this meme as consolation.

We have officially reached the minimum threshold, therefore I am happy to confirm that Rogues in Rogueport 2: The Uprising will be happening! Sign ups will keep being open for the time being, so there's still four spots left. The more the merrier as the saying goes.

A start date will come eventually, once I am comfortable getting this up and running, so stay tuned.
