  • So, just checked out your 3D Land first level remake, and dropped a star on it. Only thing I wanted to tell you was...I definitely understand that it's hard to translate a 3D level to 2D, but maybe tone down on the Goombas? I felt like there were way too many.

Great work, though. And good luck on your future levels!
Umm sorry for announcing this a bit late, but I did finish the Grand Star Rescue but I'm not really satisfied enough with it to upload it.
Wait? Can I solve the bunny problem using two sets of keys, one in the normal world and one in the sub world?
I'd have to put either the planet section or the bunny section into the sub world but so long as the bunny chase works, I'm happy
Unfortunately I forgot to save yesterday so I had to start from stratch with Grand Star Rescue.

Thankfully I got most of it back, and I pretty much finished it. I even suceeded with Ceave's contraption, though I'm still trying to figure out a way to extend P-switch signals. There's a few other things that need tweaking, but the main issue is how I'm going to implement the bunny catching. Key coins exist but I use that for the star bits later on so that won't work. I tried to use just multiple keys but the door limit would make the rest of the level's design impossible. I tried springs but thanks to how weirdly they work in terms of dissappearing and respawning that didn't work either. I'm not giving up though!

I'll upload it once it's done.
    Did it!

    New levels:

The first is the 3D Land remake I was talking about. It's quite hard as a lot of the jumps are tricky and you can't make many mistakes. If you're going for WR I suggest you use the P-wing and Invincible Tanooki Suit. I won't say exactly how I implemented those, but if you dig around you can find it...

The second is a remake of 3D Land's 1-4. I started remaking 1-3 before half-way through realising I was remixing the wrong level! This one is simple and just uses the skeleton train thing. Tip: you can cheese the second half with the tanooki suit after entering the mystery box area.

My next project is remixing Grand Star Rescue in NSMBU style. It's a lot harder since Galaxy is a lot more different from traditional 2D Mario than 3D Land and the door limit is becoming a bit of an obstacle. Might have to change those houses on the first planet to just have wooden blocks for doors. The theming is a lot more tricky - there is no space theme and SMM1 doesn't even have a night-time. I decided that Underground would be the closest match. Not sure how I'm going to do the part where you hit the panel's on the floor, but I'm considering Ceave's "YaTouchedAllTheCoinsDidYa".

I don't think I could help but feel a little silly with my Wii U when Switch players literally have access to a dedicated 3D World style

I guess I remade 3D Land levels which 3D World is a sequel to it and would work much better

OK then. Just leave any levels you want below and I'll try to make them for you 😺
So I made the final level remake from 3D Land, but it's admittedly too hard for me to beat the final boss! I'll keep grinding and once I'm done I'll post it here. It's not like RNG difficult if that was a concern.
TGIF afternoon! I'm going to be making a remake of 3D Land's final level this evening, then I'll post the link here when done.
I uploaded my first level in Mario Maker 1

It's just a weak remake of 1-1 (the normal one) from 3D Land. It wasn't carefully reconstructed just kind of done in a few minutes to as well as I could remember. I also left out the star coins etc. but I think I at least captured the gist of the level and the tanooki suit (thanks SMB3).

There's a secret block near the goomba which gives you a tanooki suit, as well as one on the left side of the second floating panel which takes you to an above place which would be where the third star coin is - the tanooki suit is still there 😃

Well, if anyone wants to check out any of the levels I'm sure to make you know where to find them 😉
Forever Forest is making me pull my hair out. Can someone give me the full solution to each part please (no spoilers tho)?

just go to each exit spot in the circle and find the one that has something different compared to all the rest and then walk through it's gate.

Yeah I tried that but I'm terrible and I pick the wrong one and I get sent to the start and I get triggered so if someone could tell me what the solution to the spot the difference thing is for each area than I'd appreciate it.
    So I made this spreadsheet:

Played MP6 now. I like it a little bit but rn I still much prefer MP9. I don't have time to fully write out the reasons now but all in all it generally feels quite outdated.

I'm very curious to why you don't like Mario Party 6 compared to 9, since I hold the opposite opinion.

I guess I don't like the fact that it boils down to how many stars you can get but each star on its own is pretty hard to get, so it's an all-or-nothing situation: you can put a lot of work into getting one star and then someone else gets it, by which time another star comes up somewhere completely different and you have to trek all the way there, by which time yet someone else has got it too! Minigames are also kind of all or nothing since I get so far that only the winner gets coins? And I find coins don't mean all that much as I almost always find myself with more coins than I need and just needing an opportunity to spend them on stars.

The overall nonlinear feel compared to MP9 feels kind of failed as I barely get to choose where I'm moving so it just feels kind of circular and not much point to it.

Graphics are obviously a major downgrade from MP9 due to the older system.

Music of MP6 is decent but I loved MP9's ost and I'm not getting anything of the same quality so far.

Minigames are decent but MP9 had so much more freedom with the Wii remote and it's motion controls. The Wii and the Wii U feel perfectly equipped for a party game as their controllers are designed for casual family fun rather than hardcore precision. Sure not all minigames from MP9 used it, but it generally allowed a lot more freedom. Wii party benefits from this too but that's as much as I've played thus far.

Admittedly nostalgia is one major reason why I like MP9 so much which I obviously don't get from a game I first played 2 days ago.

I said earlier but MP9 generally feels more modern and polished.

I can't say for sure yet as I've only played MP6 for about two hours in total so far but these are the main reasons why I'm not a huge fan of MP6 yet by comparison to 9.
The memory space on my Wii U is dissappearing quickly. Would it really be that bad to use a USB flash drive to save money?

I can imagine you'd lose your save data if you out that on a flash drive, since that gets overwritten frequently enough to eventually wear it out. If I just moved data which I never use and/or is rarely overwritten, I should be safe for a good while.

I know homebrew exists but I'm still super paranoid rn, the Wii U is like my most favouritest thing in the world and I could never live with myself if I broke it (I'm being melodramatic, I know, but still.)

That's good. I understand completely if you don't want to use homebrew but do know that it's always there if you ever think you need it.

@Ribbon I think maybe, if and when Wii U and 3DS eShop go down, I might think about it to preserve my ability to play those games. A stable and large hard drive with Cemu and Citra will keep me playing these games for as long as I want.

In the meantime I'll probably just grab a 32 GB or so USB stick. They aren't that expensive.
Hmmm.... Should I get DKCR 3D in digital or physical?

So make sure you remember your NNID information if you take the digital download route

Digital games won't necessarily go down with it either. They're linked to your NNID, and a call to Nintendo is enough to put all your games on a new system if the first one breaks.
Yeah, but what if your 3DS breaks a decade or so down the road from now once the servers shut down and Nintendo stops supporting it all together like the Wii?

I mean there is always modding and backups. Physical games can break too.
To update the TV situation, the TV repair people haven't found our power cable so I think we're going to try to find a replacement online. ☹
Can someone help me with 7-4 in SMB1? I get it's a level where you have to take the right path, but how do I know what that is? I've got as far as the part with the fire bar above lava but whatever I try and do it always sends me back.

    mario wiki says
In order to move through the first puzzle, the player has to take the bottom path, followed by the middle path, and then the top path; taking any other path will bring the player back to the start of this puzzle. For the second puzzle, the player must take the top path with the Fire-Bar, followed by remaining in the middle path while jumping over the gaps, and then taking the top path once more; taking any other path will bring the player back to the start of this puzzle.
but theres a visual map too
😩😭😟 My dad can't find the power supply for our repaired TV.

Yeah, our TV needs a power supply to run and our TV wouldn't turn on when we used it so my dad sent it off to get repaired but we don't have the power cables with us so I can't use it (and consequently, I can't use my GC) until we manage to get them back.
