Awards Killing Game 2x2: Moon of Hope (Game Thread)

WINTER:
Oh for the love of the moons! I've had it with being stood up by elusive codgers!

Tempest! (@Dr. Tempest Ghouligrab ) You know this Gadd fellow, right? Do you have any ideas how to bring him out? I'm starting to become quite cross!

"I would if I could, and my job would be a lot nicer if I could. Gadd's a "don't call me, I call you" guy. Every time I need to seek him out for clarifications, suddenly I can't find him... this is no different. I haven't seen him since he told me to clean up this mess.

WINTER:
While I still have your ear: Do you know anything about that locked room upstairs? You can pass through walls, so have you been in there? What is it?

Right, this spot'll do. The sound of heavy, esoteric machinery makes for a good backdrop to the scientific method. I've been neglecting these for a while so I guess I'll get back to work on the reason I'm here in the first place! So where were we?

Oh yeah, you.

63842

Hrmph... It's- it's even worse than I thought, Gadd's employing assistance from the undead to help him run the Grand Experiment! That is, assuming they haven't eaten him and taken over already. Sloppy operation, either way. It's a good thing I'm here to keep things in line! I can only hope for our sakes that my current supplies are adequate. Perhaps a visit to the Workshop is in order, posthaste.

Kyahaha... I'll call you...

Code:
BPI-2226 [Slow & Steady Scientist]
[THREAT LEVEL: Blue]
[ESOTERIC ALIGNMENT: TELLURIC]

[DESCRIPTION]: BPI-2226 physically resembles a large yellow tortoise with a green shell, albeit bipedal in stature and possessing opposable thumbs. Notably, BPI-2226 appears to have a level of hair growth around its head resembling that of a traditional occurrence of male-pattern baldness. As hair is not typical of any known tortoise species, it is unknown whether more hair was at one point present on its crown, or whether this is simply how it always looked.

[INFORMATION]: Beyond its strange physiology, BPI-2226 does not appear to exhibit any Anomalous traits - though its appearance is almost certainly the result of physical Telluric manifestation. Curiously, 2226 resembles the skeletal half of BPI-0102 in several ways, however they appear to bear no particular anomalous similarities or relationships beyond that. Proposal 38-B, proposing that BPI-2226 be stripped of all skin, musculature, and organs in order to compare the skeletal structure of the two, is still pending as of now - though approval is likely based on the low potential applications of 2226 in a practical or research setting.

Despite referring to itself as a scientist with some degree of formal education in paranormal studies, the actual intelligence of BPI-2226 is highly questionable. He does not appear to possess any real knowledge of the esoteric, and appears to be largely obsessed with ghostly apparitions, in spite of their relative mundanity in modern times. He often appears to be easily confused, and possesses a notably high opinion of himself and his capabilities in spite of his obvious mental shortcomings and lack of useful abilities - much unlike researchers for the Bureau of Paranormal Investigation, who are known for great humility.

Oh yeah, I'll check out the Crystal Quarry too, now that I've made a bit of progress.

We've got one of those back at our facility too, or at least we did before... Before... Well, something happened I guess. I don't remember, so it couldn't have been that important. Let me guess, these ones are big and glowing? Kyahaha, when aren't they in these kinds of place?

Welp, that Round House was a let down. No biggie though, just a miner setback...

...hm? 'Course The Lash has jokes, baby, you're supposed to laugh. Sheesh, tough crowd. Gonna have to work this one a bit more, Lash.

Guess I'll mosey on over to that Ceremonial Chamber, then. Perhaps it's a bit more fitting for a man of my greatness.

A Dark Lab? Psshh, what, does a glimpse into its twisted science make most go insane? Or maybe you had to go conservative with the lighting to cover the bills all the way?
You investigate the Darkness Laboratory.
A humming laboratory with dim lightning. Odd devices sit around the room, and strange globs of energy are visible within sealed containers. It seems like this laboratory is focused on study of paranormal and spectral powers.

Who is the smuggler and what's in their hideout?
You investigate the Smuggler's Hideout. It's got several pieces of treasure that are frozen solid in blocks of ice. Seems you'd need to melt the ice to get at the treasure.

"Afraid that's a trade secret. If you're meant to know, you'll find out."

The Crystal Quarry is full of crystals, small and glowing. Several of them surround a huge, opaque crystal in the center, with several different colors gleaming through its shape. It looks extremely valuable.

The ceremonial chamber is a large room, with plenty of space to stand. In the center is a large dias, on which an ornate throne is sitting, radiating power and authority. A banner with an unknown symbol hangs on the wall behind it.

Oh, a lot of stuff happened, I must have gotten distracted by the books in the Study- oh, a library. And no one was curious about that? Well, more for me. I'll head over to the Library and rea- ahem, examine the place.

[As you continue to mess with the Shaft, an odd feeling settles over you. Despite knowing where everyone they've met so far is, there's a clear sensation of being watched...

A form slowly phases through the floor of the elevator, rising up to see you.]

tanner_neutral_talk.png

"I've already said, Mona, if you want my attention...
Oh. So you're the new group for the experiment this year."

tanner_tired.png

"Well, back to the grind... I am Tanner Tosca, the assistant to Gadd. The one he piles everything he doesn't want to do onto. Tanner, dive through two floors to give a message. Tanner, head out to town because I forgot one tool. Tanner, I need coffee."
tanner_excited.png

"At least when other people are here, it can get interesting. Try and rattle him a little."
tanner_neutral_talk.png

"Oh, you wanted to explore the basement? ...Alright. Don't break anything. I just finished tidying up down there after one of Gadd's experiments."
tanner_tired.png

"Or break them, I guess... I'll have to clean it up either way..."

YOOOO cool Scythe dude! I especially love the polish! I gotta ask what do you typically use it for? and what technique do you use to sharpen it? I tend to do a manunal sharpening but nowadays know the sharpening wheel is ALL the rage, also what kind of metal is it?

Guess I'll have a look-see in that Container Yard. That's my day job when I'm not punching faces in the Bear Pit, yunno; picking things up, putting them down somewhere else. I'll feel right at home! Except this place is creepy and kinda sucks.

By the by, Safety Sally, I'll let you know ahead of time - The Lash does all his own stunts. Things like 'codes' and 'standards' are for lesser men and boarding schools. And uh, probably that thing that jumped in the oven.

Hello, everyone... I'm new here, but it says that I've been tasked with appraisal and ensuring the quality and safety of the complex and the items within.

If you encounter anything damaged or broken during your stay, please be sure to notify me immediately!

For example, that massive hole in the second floor hallway is a major liability! It's a good thing Ms. Mona was here to demonstrate the damages firsthand! Please be cautious upstairs!

... So, um... What even is a "horology studio"?

You pour over the books in the library. There appears to be a variety of topics, organised by the Spoowy Decimal System, a ghastly disorganised mess. You wander around the central, huge globe of the world in the middle of the room, and note a grand piano off to one side.

"Thanks. Nice to know someone appreciates craftsmanship. I stick to manual, myself. I tried the wheel a couple times, but it never gave me the same slice I could with my own work.

The metal's my own personal mix of steel and titanium. Lightweight, but extremely effective."

You check out the Container Yard. There's a whole lot of containers. Most of them are unlabeled, and some handtrucks sit around the room to help you with moving them around. There's a large roll-up door leading to the outside.

... So, um... What even is a "horology studio"?
You investigate the Horology Studio. It seems this was the personal chamber of a clockmaker. In testament to that, the room has a bed and many broken clocks in various stages of repair. There's also a working jeweled clock, with intricate detail. A sign next to it says it was made by Faberge.

You already looked at the Smuggler's Hideout!

You investigate the Solarium. It's a side room with several large glass windows, positioned to let you sit and watch during the day or the night. Several pictures adorn the walls, and some plants have been set up to add atmosphere.

I am feeling a bit peckish, so let's check out that Dining Room.
You investigate the Dining Room. A massive table dominates the room, enough to seat everyone in the Complex. There's also plenty of chairs and a couple beautiful centerpieces, as well as cabinets with dining equipment such as serving dishes and utensils.

Weh-he-hell, look what we have here! Pretty swanky places you got, boss! I bet you must get a lot of visitors. Especially if the rumors are as they say.

Tanner, you said your name was?
Mind if I check out the room labelled 'Hydro Generators'? For, um- entirely mundane reasons.

You investigate the Hydro Generators. This is the power room for the entire Complex. A series of powerful hydroelectric generators use water connected to the Sewer's water cycling and create electric power for the building. Notably, you can see a small reservoir of emergency water nearby, with an open top. Water Elementals regularly fly out of the reservoir and can be captured for use. Sloshy!

I see our host has still failed to put in an appearance. That is not the sort of welcome I- or the rest of you, I suppose- deserve. Not to mention the complete lack of a gentleman's club, or even a basic pub! Tell me, is there at least anything good to drink in the Cellar?

TANNER: "Hey! You, the person who started that machine up! Turn it off!"

...
That's not very nice. Fascia's a sleepyhead... it takes her a while to get used to new places.
She was mumbling that that machine sounded nice, so I thought we would stay here for a while.

The person walks... no... clunks over to the airplane motor in the elevator, and slowly turns it off with her one free hand.
The other one is holding...

albina_base_crop.png

The Maestro always told me to be cordial to guests, when they mean well.
We could still be friends... though I don't know if there's much Fascia would want from you.

The guest who placed Fascia and I in front of the elevator, though... mhm, I think we could be very fast friends.
I've been traveling around to show Fascia new places, but I haven't seen anyone like you before.
So, I'll introduce myself, and share something I love. Would you be so kind as to do the same for me?
Everyone here is welcome to introduce themselves. Don't hesitate to ask anything you'd like to know about me, either.

My name is Albina, and this is my beloved Fascia.
I'm studying Corporist art under Maestro Callisto.
Actually, the Maestro received the invitation you sent to this gallery,
but he said it would be a wonderful learning experience for me to go in his stead.

Fascia and I were curious about the Greenhouse.
Most of her time is spent inside, so she wanted to see the plants.
I've heard a greenhouse is like a gallery in and of itself, so I want to go, too.
