What is the hardest main Mario game you have ever played?

For me, it's Super Mario Bros. 2: The Lost Levels.

Nah that's not too too bad.

When it comes to beating games 100%, Yoshi's Island DS is no doubt the hardest.

Although I've heard Super Mario Bros. Special is pretty hard too.

That doesn't really count, unless the topic was "Hardest Mario Universe game played". Anyway, SMB and SMB:LL were some of the harder Mario titles I've played, mostly due to those Hammer Bros.. Amusingly, the classics tend to be harder than today's games.

Renting Mario's Time Machine for the SNES from the video store when I was eight years old (1998) with no internet search engine. I'm still surprised how good my father was at that game (I pretty much had him beat it for me.)
